LOVED this book! Jess hadn't been home in ten years when she returns home when her mother is injured. She goes with great trepidation, as she has stayed away after being the victim of a horrible crime with her then boyfriend, Derek. To ensure she's never again be a victim, she became physically fit and one of the top stunt women in Hollywood. Derek became a Navy SEAL as a way to no longer be a victim and protect the innocent. After being injured, he returned home to write, becoming a best selling novelist.
Unfortunately, their attacker didn't stop and has kept kidnapping teens over the years. When remains are found, Jess finds herself once more with Derek as they try to work through their complicated history and feelings.
The author made me me invested in the characters and care about their story. I found myself hoping for their HEA and wanting them to succeed.
This novel is a must read for fans of the genre. While part of a series, this is a stand alone novel. The author is on my must read authors' list and should probably be on yours as well.
4 1/2 stars out of 5
I have read several books written by Dana Marton as well as Book 1 in the Mission Recovery series.
I enjoyed the first book but this one was very different with a much darker theme and didn't seem to first with the first book. While the characters are mentioned that seems to be it that ties the books together. Threat Of Danger can be read as a stand alone novel in fact you wouldn't know it was part of a series.
The dark theme of this story will stay with readers because it is every woman's nightmare that happens to Jess Taylor. As the story progresses as well as the romance readers start to uncover the truth of the story and boy the bad guy is creepy.
Dana Marton created a very strong female character as well as a heart throb that women will fall in love with. The second chance romance will leave readers happy and the story comes to a fast end all tied up in a nice little bow.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Montlake Romance for the advance copy of Dana Marton Threat of Danger (Mission Recovery #2)
Threat of Danger, had my emotions all over the place. One minute biting my nails then laughing then crying and then right back to biting my nails. I loved it!
