With all the plot lines and most of them hinting about unrealistic things. I’m not a big fan of my mystery and/ or thriller not being believable. Are main characters are on the hunt for Ramon the owner of a teach company. Who also has a twin. That has problems and Ramon is the only one hat can read an old book, that could save has twin form his illness. Okay so not my favorite book from these two writers, but if you started the series you may have wave your way though to the end, so your not lost if they write another in the series.
THE SIXTH DAY
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book from beginning to end. It was full of adventure and no lack of excitement.
The book is quite complex. Romanian lore, including Vlad Dracula, vampires, and the Voynich Manuscript, is interwoven with modern day warfare of drones, computer hacking, ransomware, and with a very unique use of falconry.
Set in London, this the fifth in the series featuring FBI agents Nicholas Drummond and Michaela Caine. Political assassinations and a massive cyber security attack set them, along with M15, on a thrilling quest stop the attackers. The perpetrators are quite fascinating along with their reasons for committing these crimes.
The way in which the author wove these complex ideas into a well paced and solid story is quite good and admirable. A little bit of fantasy? Maybe, maybe not. Possibly more futuristic in nature. Or frankly, much of it could be happening right now.
I do wish the characters had been more developed, especially the two leads. Many times they seemed a little silly or flippant. Crises were solved too quickly and easily. This may be a matter of personal taste as I prefer a more serious and subtle approach.
But nonetheless I found this book very satisfying and I think it would be enjoyable to lovers of crime adventure novels. I will read more works by this author. I would like to thank NetGalley and the author for the opportunity to read and review this book.
Falcons Drones and Deception. I enjoyed the suspense in this book. This was my first exposure to this series. I think the book stood fine on it's own and I will explore the others. Sometimes it was a little choppy and hard to follow. But I will read more
The latest Brit inthe FBI novel pits Mike and Nicholas against a meglomaniac with his army of drones and falcons. ARC from NetGalley.
This was ok for me. I like Catherine Coulter books but over the past few years, hers and Mary Higgins Clark books have read sort of poorly. They aren't as tightly crafted and the dialogue for both is stilted and weird sounding when you read it. I do like the FBI element and the incorporation of Savich and Sherlock in this series and I like that Nick is a computer hacker, which adds some tech intrigue to the series but overall, this one read like 2 distinct stories and we didn't necessarily need the sick brother angle.
This is a super-charged adventure filled with nonstop action and will appeal to everyone who loves a great mystery and suspense story! I found myself swept up in the action and plot and could only imagine the chaos to our world if this type of drone warfare and computer expertise really existed! (I truly hope that it is fiction.) I have read the earlier Brit in the FBI stories, but each one can stand alone and be understood.
Thanks to the publisher and to NetGalley for an ARC; all opinions are my own.
Love C. Coulter and she did not disappoint with this book! My only complaint would be lack of sleep as I could not put this book down to go to bed!
This book really captured my attention. I loved the style of writing, the characters were well-developed and intriguing and the plot was complex but interesting. I didn't know anything about the Voynich papers or the special kinds of twins who were reputed to be the only ones to be able to read Voynich and who also usually had one twin who suffered from a rare form of hemophilia. And, then, for those who like a science fiction touch there are drones, falcons and computer geniuses throughout the book. All in all a great book.
This was such an absolutely wonderful story. I love how the authors take a little bit of history and weave such a great tale. This book had twists and turns. An incredible amount of action and adventure. Mike and Nicholas are such fun, brave and brilliant characters. The pages couldn’t turn fast enough. I can’t wait for another A Brit In The FBI book. I received an advance review copy in exchange for an honest review by NetGalley.
Drones? Very old manuscript? Bitcoins? Vlad Dracul? Trained falcons? Bram Stoker? Political figures mysteriously dying daily on a daily basis?
What the heck? How do all these tie in together you ask? Well, just leave it to Catherine Coulter and J. T. Ellison. They absolutely had and have the knack to do so while keeping you on your toes with your pulse racing and your heart beating right out of your chest.
This is definitely a duo that when I see their names together, I am immediately raising my hand to sign me for their reads. As usual, this one did not fail to disappoint. Psychotic villains who went way above and beyond the "what if" scary factor.
This book had me racing through it. The action is non stop and believable (scary!!). I loved how hemophilia and Dracula were able to come together in this unputdownable read. I especially loved the little bit about Bram Stoker - genius!
Grossest part? "He gave her a chicken neck from his pocket." OMG, I could literally smell that rancid thing and even now, I am still getting a little nauseous.
While only my second book in the series, I look forward to more and hopefully find time to go back and read the others.
Excellent read that I read in one sitting.
Kudos to the authors and thanks to Gallery, Pocket Threshold Books and Net Galley for providing me with a free e-galley in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.
These 2 authors put together such a page turning book that you will want to lose sleep over. A Brit detective novel at its best. I'm looking forward to the next one as much as I loved this one!
The 'Brit in the FBI' series is a spinoff of Catherine Coulter's FBI series. I've read all of the 'Brit in the FBI' series by Catherine Coulter and J. T. Ellison (this is #5) and all of the books in the 'FBI' series by Catherine Coulter. These are all great reads, but it is possible to read this book as a stand-alone.
The main characters are vacationing in England when they are asked to solve a cyber crime. They are also made aware of a Dracula-like serial killer roaming around. It seems that the two are connected.
This is a great read with a lot of twists and turns. Highly recommended.
My immediate reaction upon starting this book is that it would have helped to read the previous books. There is definitely plenty of back story between the main characters and I felt a bit removed from their familiarity and previous escapades. There were references made but not enough to be able to draw a complete starting point. I probably should have known better when I saw the word “series”.
If you are looking for high adventure, intrigue, drones, falcons capturing drones, hemophilia, descendants of Dracula, and lots of murder then don’t hesitate to read this book. It is a well told story if a bit “out there”. The characters and their interaction were really well defined. I enjoyed the dry wit and droll comments among them. The dialogue was good if a little tongue in cheek. The plot may not have been completely believable but if the author could imagine it, probably safe to say it could happen.
Thank you NetGalley and Gallery books for an ARC.
This was fun, although a little predictable. The usual brilliant but twisted computer coder who has managed to infiltrate just about every computer in the world. His equally brilliant and twisted twin brother has a condition that is lethal and their search for a cure is worldwide.
Simultaneously a mysterious ancient manuscript that had been missing essential pages can finally be made whole, although the discovery of the pages is based on a lie.
The endlessly adorable and just -that- much- better -than -the -computer guy couple chase both the soon- to- be- uncovered conspiracy get really tiresome, but always seem to land on their collective feet.
There is a little mystical stuff associated with the manuscript and the manuscript expert. That stuff ultimately connects all the parties and the loose ends are tied up nicely.
Pretty fun, if predictable, action, double cross, guns blazing adventure.

I am a fan of Catherine Coulter. This book was a bit hard to get into at the beginning. The plot was good, plenty of action and interesting characters..
I have read at least one more of the Brit series. I enjoyed both. They are a bit out of the ordinary. Drones as killers! it was a little hard for me to get into, but once I did, it was hard to put down. It does go back & forth in history a good bit explaining about how the book was written and what they expect when they get the book. It is a bit gory, but still a good story.
I always enjoy a good Catherine Coulter book and The Sixth Day was no exception. This book is well written and the plot kept me guessing and thoroughly engrossed in the book. If you enjoy a good suspense this book is for you.
I think I would have enjoyed this book more if I had read previous ones in the series. It was rather hard to get into the story and try to keep the characters straight. The descriptions are good as is the writing. The narrative is a bit far fetched and confusing with the jumping around in times and scenes.
It's an entertaining book that's sure to please readers of the series.
I have been a fan of Catherine Coulter for ages and so when I saw the book on NetGalley, I requested a copy because the description made this sound like a very interesting book--spies, intrigue, ancient texts, even Dracula, and I put aside my misgivings of jumping into the middle of a series. I wasn't completely lost about the main characters, but I certainly had no idea how they met etc, and as for this storyline I found that there was a bit too much going on. It jumped from this timeline to ancient times and the whole twin thing just left me unfulfilled. I certainly had no desire to go right out and buy the other books of the series because this story just did not draw me in as much as I thought it would. Very entertaining overall but it just did not do it for me.
I usually love all of the Catherine Coulter books and look forward with eager anticipation to reading The Sixth Day. It should have been great, we had a tie to Count Dracula, our hero and heroine Nicholas and Mike, and the current day bad guys who were a cross between hackers and drone hitmen. Nonetheless, the book failed to capture my attention and draw me in. In considering the reason, I have to say that the characters seemed superficial. It was as an engaging as reading a corporate meeting summary. The drones launched but The Sixth Day never did.
