This is another sweet romance (no naughty business) from Victoria James.
Again there is the secret baby trope in this series, but as this is one of my favourite guilty pleasure tropes, I didn’t mind.
Connor O’Leary- the Hero- comes home from a dinner out with friends to find an abandoned baby on his doorstep. Upon freaking out he calls his best friend Jack Bailey (from book 2 in this series) to come and help. Jack’s sister Haley Thomson- the Heroine- offers her services as a nanny for the baby until her new job starts in a few months time.
The title of this book didn’t fully live up to its name. There was nothing “bad boy” about Connor O’Leary, the Hero. He might like a bit rough around the edges with his tattoos and dark brooding good looks, but he was a marshmallow really.
This book features insta-love in it. While the Haley and Connor have known each other for over a year, and been attracted to each other all that time, they aren’t close. But once they come together to look the baby, all their feelings bubble to the surface.
Overall, this was a cute, quick read that I enjoyed

While the hero of this book, Connor, is not really a bad boy, you do get a sense of the entire plot of the book from the title. Connor might have had a life as a poor kid who had to quit high school to earn money to pay for his mother’s health care bills. He has tattoos, but there is not anything “bad” about him. However, he does find an infant daughter on his doorstep and has to figure out how to take care of a baby, something he has no idea how to do. So he hires Haley, a woman who has escaped a bad marriage to come live with her older brother. She agrees to move in with Connor to be the nanny for Connor’s baby.

You know where all this is headed and there is nothing surprising about the plot. The best part is seeing Connor, this big tough guy, fall for his baby daughter and gingerly try to take care of her. It’s all very sweet and that’s what makes the book.

I was given a free ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I read this as a standalone and thought it was a good quick read. The storyline was good and I liked the characters. Haley was sweet and you wouldn't think she would match well with tough faced Connor. The story unfolded well giving us enough into each characters background to get to know them better.

Overall a sweet romance

Was not aware that this was part of a series but it was a very good short read. Going to go find the other books in this series

A very cute read. I love how mysterious Connor is in the beginning. I totally didn't expect him to be as amazing as he is. He melts your heart as soon as Rosie appears on his doorstep. Haley she is so sweet. I get why she is so guarded. And it takes everything in me not to yell at her to tell her she's going to be okay that she is stronger then she thinks. I can understand the healing she needs to go through in order to give her heart away again. Connor is the perfect fit for her even though she may not think so. The chemistry and attraction is so strong. You can't help but home that Rosie and Connor will help Haley realize that she belongs with them. I loved this book.

“I’d never want to go back to before you. There is no before you. Everything started with you, Haley.”

The Shadow Creek, Montana series has quietly become a series I look forward to reading. Each new installment is surprising and enjoyable, and has a depth that is somewhat belied by the titles and the premises. Case in point, Baby on the Bad Boy’s Doorstep.

This book doesn’t just explore what it means for Connor, a single, troubled man who finds a baby waiting him on his return home, and Haley, a divorced survivor and sudden nanny—it also looks at spousal abuse, neglect, self-worth and fear. And it does it well, if not perfectly.

There were a lot of things I liked about this book, and the way Victoria James handled Connor and Haley’s tormented pasts. There were also a few things that I didn’t like—IQ tests and the assumption of worth based on education being the main one—and a few questions I’d like answered but, those doubts aside, what remains is a smartly written, highly enjoyable book. Likable characters, an adorable new father/newborn baby girl combo and a touch of suspense, coupled with a (mostly) lack of cliché baby-mama-drama, all worked together to capture and keep my attention.

And quietly become another book set in this small Montana town that I enjoyed so much I am already looking forward to the next . . .

“You are perfect. In all the ways you think you are imperfect, you are perfect for me.”

This is the romance of Connor and Haley, and of course baby Rosie. Overall I liked the story, but some of the story line felt a little forced. Not sure why the ex-husband suddenly shows up out of the blue, and not sure why the on again off again attraction. Minor overall though, and would still recommend if you want a cute romance with a darling baby.

Loved this book! Haley is a woman damaged by her past marriage to an abusive man. Connor is a high school drop out who comes home one evening to find a baby on his doorstep...his daughter that he never knew about. This is an engaging story with characters that I cared about and felt invested in their story. I found myself turning pages just as quickly as possible. The author is on my must read authors' list.

This novel pulled on my heartstrings, but could also touch on sensitive areas for some readers, Please be aware of this if infertility or spousal abuse are triggers for you.

Both Connor and Haley are looking for a new beginning in Shadow Creek, Montana. Connor came with the only man that he considered a true friend and in him he found a family that he never had. Haley came to escape a horribly abusive marriage and to her only living family, her brother. It just so happens that her brother is married in to the same family that took Connor in.

After a family dinner night, Connor O’Leary returns home to finds a baby left out in the cold on his door step. He knows nothing about babies, so he calls his friend and gets the entire family including Haley. Haley volunteers to be the nanny while she is waiting for the next school year to start.

Both Haley and Connor are emotionally scarred, but they soon discover they share a love for Rosie, the baby left on Connor’s door step and each other. The biggest obstacle in finding true happiness is themselves.

Baby on a Bad Boy's Doorstep had a cute baby and romance but touches on difficult subject matter, verbal, physical and mental abuse. I applaud James for tackling such a difficult but prevalent topic that needs exposure.

That being said, there was nothing "bad boy" about Connor, he might of been hard on himself but overall he was a complete sweetie. Tattoos, a lack of formal education and a rough upbringing does not make one a "bad boy".

There were points I wanted to yell, pull your head out of your out of your butt to both Connor and Haley and in the end it kept me from loving it.

Quick, easy and entertaining.

Well I hate her husband. Did he cause her to have multiple miscarriages?

Where is her brother?

Who the hell leaves a baby on someone's doorstep in the middle of winter? What if he was gone overnight?

I totally agree, Haley.

I feel like I'm missing a lot of backstory on the couples.

If Tess finally called him back, why didn't he ask about her drinking?

She is really excited about this IQ test.

"Just the nanny" wouldn't sleep with her boss.

Of course David showed up.

1.5 - "There’s no going back after this…" Stars.

I am going to keep this review brief, because I don’t really have anything good to say. Weak story-line, weak characters, and generally lackluster all over.

I suppose I don’t really ascribe to the belief that just because a man has tattoos he is a Bad Boy anymore, but what really pissed me off was the fact that the lack of a formal education was the other descriptor used. What utter bullshit, especially in this day and age where most wealthy people are self-made and have gotten to where they are through hard work and determination. We then add to this clichéd judgement by him then actually proving his worth and intelligence by taking an IQ test, and being outed as an anonymous donor of large sums of cash.

Pretty sure you can tell, I wasn’t a fan, and to add a cherry to the top of it, most of the judgement came from a woman who was on the run (essentially) from a man who had money and treated her like crap through their marriage, so hardly one to be making snappy judgements about someone when your own life choices haven’t turned out that well.

This book also needs to offer contact details for those who have issues with or have suffered from spousal abuse, because although it was another weak thread in the story-line, it would still be the responsible thing to do.

Baby On the Bad Boy's Doorstep, is a sweet, sad and also happy love story. And some of those emotions all happen in the same chapter throughout the book.
