I loved this book! Super cute. Will recommend for sure! This book was exactly what I didn't know I was looking for!
The Penthouse Pact is sexy, sweet, and the perfect read for the one day a year dedicated to love. Our boy Parker Braxton made a million dollar bet—and I mean millions—with his friends to never marry. The stakes are obviously high and Parker has no problem following it until he meets Layla. Layla is a college student that works at the coffee shop that Parker frequents. Layla doesn’t think that Parker even knows who she is; since he’s such a stuck-up jerk.
Then he goes and runs over Layla with his car. Parker then takes Layla to his apartment where he struggles with having his true feelings come to light. He wants. And he wants her bad! I liked that Layla didn’t put up with his crap and the tension between the two was sizzling and fun.
What’s even more cool is that the more they spend time together, the more they learn about the other one. Layla and Parker have so much more to them that they’re able to explore. And to think it may not have happened under different circumstances. I recommend this book to those that like light and easy banter, great chemistry, and a wonderful setup to a series that’ll be both sexy and fun.
Cathryn Fox has done it again with this new romantic story!
A multi-million dollar pact that demands to be broken...
Parker Braxton and Layla Fallon meet when he runs her over....uh-oh! And while Layla heals, she stays with Parker.
After that the romance between them starts, but he has a pact with his friends that he will never marry. She tries her best to resist him, but they soon realize they have something special.
But what about the pact?
Such a good story!
I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Ok I definitely need to read more about this series! I love the idea of a billionaire pact to not get married. I just know all these guys are going to fall and fall hard and I definitely want to read their stories!!
Layla and Parker were fun to read about. I didn’t like Parker at first but then when you read about him and why he is the way he is, it makes total sense. And then you’re rooting for him because he’s just so perfect!
And Layla! She is just amazing! The things she does all while trying to get through school and work are so amazing. I couldn’t imagine doing half of what she does while trying to get through school.
So yes, I definitely recommend this one!! And hopefully the series once I read more!
I received an arc from Netgalley. What a refreshing romance this book was. I wasn’t sure what to expect with the title but this book definitely surprised me.
Layla and Parker had such an interesting dialogue and they had such a connection. The banter between the two was cute and sweet. When Parker kept finding ways to keep Layla with him it was endearing.
Definitely a great read and I will be looking for more books by this author.
The Penthouse Pact
Bachelor Pact #1
Cathryn Fox
4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
5 million reasons to stay a bachelor is a pact made by Parker and his Yale friends. Whoever marries must pay the others a million dollars each. That way they know it is worth it.
Parker hits Layla with his car and ends up taking her to the hospital and eventually back to his place so he can keep an eye on her.
Layla never wants to have to depend on a man to support herself. She is very independent and saw what her mother went through when her dad up and left them.
Both Parker and Layla have personal obstacles to overcome. But the biggest question is
Could Layla be worth 5 million??
Always love books by this author. She has a great writing style and great characters.
Thanks NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
A fun, light romance. I anticipated a quick read but it didn't feel very quick to me.
Layla is a struggling college student working at a local coffee shop. One day she is hit by a car. Parker isn't paying attention and when he realizes he's hit Layla, he bullies her into living with him as she recovers. He's sworn he'll never marry but Layla is wearing him down. This is an overdone storyline but so well written that's easy to forget it's be retold many times!
A splendid tale of romance. Parker was dedicated to never marrying until he literally runs into Layla. Sparks fly and another bachelor falls. Good solid writing. An enjoyable book.
Parker and Layla ..The Penthouse Pact.
Layla is a young woman that is working her way through college ..scrimping and saving for everything that she has. Her part-time job as a barista is barely covering her expenses but graduation is just around the corner.
Parker is a smart sexy business man and he is a workaholic . Many years ago he and his college friends made a crazy pact. Stay single or pay, literally pay each one in the group if you fall in love and marry! He has followed through and had not had a problem falling ...until now.
When he accidently hits the young beautiful barista from his favorite coffee shop his world and hers is about to change.
He insists that she let him take her to the hospital and then take care of her . She wants no part of this and does everything to worm her way out of this crazy arrangement . Once he wears her down both of their worlds start to change ! Loved their story!
~~Michele McMullen~~
Loved this book. The characters had me rooting for them and I was swooning and had lots of feels!
Parker Braxton is a known billionaire bachelor that plans to never marry. Having made a pact in college that makes you pay out big money if you break it is a good reason too.
Layla Fallon wants to finish college and be able to make her place in the world. She has set a goal to never depend on a man for anything.
Neither was planning on him hitting her with his car. He took her in against her wishes so he could watch her after her concussion. What started out as a day and slow friendship turned into so much more in the end.
I liked the pace of the story and the development of the characters. I wanted them to have a HEA.
This was my first book by Cathryn Fox. I enjoyed the story and look forward to reading more by her. I received a copy from Netgalley to read and review. All opinions are my own.
A car crash and a sweet college gal who was hit is the main focus on this story. He is $$$$$$$ she is a girl just trying to find herself. She is very stubborn and he is feeling responsible for hitting her. They reach an understanding that she shouldb't be alone with the concussion.
One thing leads to a lot and bam... HEA with steam galore.
Parker Braxton is the President and owner of SKYWEB - America’s leading producer of computer software. Parker has a reputation for being a hard butt around the office. Parker raced out of his office as he had been called to the ER for his mother. I his haste Parker was as careful as he should be and hit Layla with his car. She had served him on a daily basis from the coffee counter at Uncommon Grounds and parker felt no one could make a cup of coffee like Layla. Parker looked at Layla and knew she was too sweet and innocent for him. Layla wasn’t the kind of girl who would know the score with a guy like Parker. His rules were sex was for pleasure. Love didn’t exist, and no woman was worth the price- which was five million. He had made a bachelor pact with five men from their Yale secret society. They had all seen the tricks women played and had been burned one way or another. Parker took Layla to the ER after he hit her to be checked out, then he checked on his mother who was ok. Layla was surprised when parker even knew her name. Stuck up, arrogant men like Parker wasn’t Layla’s type. Layla actually didn’t have a type as she was too busy trying to make it on her own. Parker seen layla at the bus stop and made her go with him. She didn’t argue as much as she wanted too as she had a concussion and she was dizzy and her head was pounding. Parker had checked on Layla and knew what the doctor said about not being alone for at least twenty four hours. When parker found out no one was staying with Layla he made her come to his penthouse where he could watch over her. Layla’s dream was to someday own her own art gallery and maybe even hang some of her own paintings. Parker had never brought women to his home as that would make it personal Layla was the first. Although Layla told herself she didn’t like parker she was intrigued by him. Layla’s mom had overdosed when she was five. She then went to live with her grandmother who wasn’t much of a caregiver and developed early dementia. By the time Layla was a teen she was working two jobs , taking care of her grandmother, and trying to save for school. I loved how surprised parker was that his parents really did love each other even of his mother had gotten pregnant on purpose. Parker talked Layla into staying longer when there were problems with her apartment.
I loved this romance. It was a quick cute romantic read. I loved the pace and plot as well. I choked up at times and chuckled at others. Layla and Parker definitely had red hot chemistry. I loved all the things Parker and layla did together and that she cooked for him a lot. I didn’t find anything to criticize in this book and that made me happy. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend.
What happens when a multibillionaire crashes into the local barista. Well he brings her home and finds out things he should never know. Her life will change drastically but not by choice. She is independent and tough. They are both stubborn and the sparks are flying.
What a story it is a fast read and it mighty steamy.
** I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**
This is a great story about Layla and Parker, they have such an awesome chemistry that I was captivated from the start. Catherine is very quickly becoming one of my favourite authors
I rec'd a copy and voluntarily leave my own thoughts
Making a deal with his best friends was supposed to keep Parker Braxton safe and never considering marriage, especially since if he loses, it would cost him millions. However, when he accidentally runs over Layla Fallon -- the woman that makes the perfect coffee -- he finds himself inviting her to stay at his apartment while she recuperates from the accident. Yet, the more time he spends with Layla, the more he finds himself doing the one thing he swore he'd never do -- wanting love, family and happiness with the right woman. Will he be able to convince Layla to give him a chance, or will Layla's need to protect herself make her walk away from the love and happiness she deserves?
I am a huge fan of this author, and I've got to say that this is one of the best starts to a series by Ms. Fox yet. Really, the pact Parker and his friends made is an interesting one and was one of the reasons this story was a total page turner for me because I couldn't wait to read more about it. However, in saying that, there were plenty of other reasons this story was so entertaining and that's because of the wonderful main characters that had plenty of electrifying chemistry, but get off to a rough start with what happens to Layla because of Parker.
As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories, as both have lost people they care about and it's tough for Parker to believe the best in people because everybody wants something from him due to him being rich. However, I liked that Parker was honorable and willing to do anything he could to help Layla through the tough times she suffers throughout this book with what happens to her in the beginning and then to keep her living with Parker. I also liked how confident and persuasive the hero could be to get his way because he wants to make certain the heroine is all right. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero is how protective he was of the heroine, especially when what happened was affecting her personally when it came to her job. While the heroine, she's really independent and hates to have to rely on others, which is understandable because she doesn't trust easily. I also liked how Layla challenged the hero with her stubbornness. Really, she had me smiling at various times throughout this story.
Overall, Ms. Fox has delivered an utterly enthralling read in this book where I'm looking forward to more of this series and where the romance was hot and potent and had me cheering for this couple's happy ever after. The way this story ended had me loving how Parker was willing to fight for their future and I loved the way he went about it. It was sweet and adorable (words that wouldn't make the list) and had me crying happy tears. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up brilliantly, as Layla and Parker are so good together. I would recommend The Penthouse Pact by Cathryn Fox, if you enjoy the opposites attract trope, or books by authors Naima Simone, Kira Archer, Miranda Liasson and Jenna Bayley-Burke.
A predictable and familiar plot but the author makes you care about these characters. I fell in love with Parker and Layla and their journey. They were so cute and sexy together. There were a few cringe moments but overall it was a good read with some great sexy moments.
It started with a bang...okay, something like that. In his haste to reach the hospital where his mother was brought to, Parker is distracted and ...runs Layla over. Literally. He hits her with his car. Afterwards, he takes her back home to his place to take care of her and make sure that she is well. I mean, at least as well as you can be with a concussion and all.
Things develop rather quickly from there. There may or may not be a fake engagement involved as well as cookies, coats and ...well...a bunch of friends who agreed to never marry.
When your own demons collide with your feelings, it isn't always easy to do the right thing - and it gets even more difficult when life puts some spokes in your wheel.
Stuck-up-suit Parker and Layla are a wonderful couple. You realize from the first why Parker is drawn to her despite his reservations and convictions and Layla, well, who could resist a guy who is so charming and so determined to do the right things. Layla is sweet and you just have to love her so it is easy to see why Parker falls for her.
This is one of those books that won't necessarily stay with you after you have closed the book but it is a very nice and very charming book that I really enjoyed reading. If you are looking for sweet and nice, this is the book of your choice!
