Great read. Well-developed characters. Easy to follow storyline with low drama. Would highly recommend this book to anyone wishing to pass a couple of hours.
This is a new author for me, and I was not sure what to expect, but I need not have worried, as I will be adding this author to my favourites and 1-click lists. Connor needs a marriage of convenience in order to save his families pub, and Fallon who is his brothers’ executive assistant, fits the bill perfectly. I loved the humorous banter between these two, and this was a truly entertaining read. I look forward to reading more in this series.
This book is a winner - go get it you guys. Romantic and passionate. It’s cute and sweet and sexy, and really enjoyable. This book will pull you in and keep you there start to finish. Wonderful tale. There is everything to like about this book. A very enjoyable read and a sweet rom-com!! Absolutely recommend
4.5 stars
Connor's life is about to be turned upside down, and maybe it won't be so bad. Connor just found out that he needs to be married in order to gain control of his part of the Pub empire his family has built. I'm he problem? He's a playboy and in no way ready to settle down into married life. At least that's what he thought until he runs into Fallin the woman he's only talked to over the phone and through emails since she took a position as his brother's assistant. What better person to be his fake wife than the woman who needs the money and help almost as much as he needs the pub empire.
When I first started reading I thought for sure this was going to be the typical fake marriage trope, but there is so much more to it. There are no fake feelings. Everything that happened between Connor and Fallon felt real and developed, not at all rushed. I absolutely loved the story and can't wait to read about the next Murphy brother.
Straight.Up.Sinful! This was the sexy, slow-to-burn, fake marriage story of Connor and Fallon that had lots of laugh-out-loud moments; enjoyable from start-to-finish.
Please note that an ARC was generously provided in exchange for an honest review of which this is both honest and completely voluntary.
Connor and his brother's are appalled that their father would make conditions to their inheritance by marrying within a year or losing it. Connor had vowed never to marry so the next best thing was a fake fiancé. Fallon was in need of finance for her grandmother and Connor needed a wife so he offered her a proposal after all she did not care for him. Will this be a match or a disaster or does fate have something else in store for this couple? I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.
WOW WOW WOW WOW! This is my first Magan Vernon book and I'm hooked. This book had charm, steam, a great story, a pretend marriage and a HEA! I picked this book on Netgalley to review because I'm a sucker for books set in Ireland. They had a connection from the beginning even though it was Fallon being irritated with Connor. I love how he finally "ran into" her. I loved that he was trying to romance her and how he embraced Nana and Leah. This may have started out as a pretend marriage to help Connor fulfill his father's will and help out Fallon but it turns into love. I cannot wait to read more from Magan and more of the Murphy brothers! I'm sure someone is going to knock the starch out of Jack.
The first book in the Murphy Brothers series, Straight Up Irish was an ok read. The premise of the storyline drew me instantly, but something didn’t quite connect with me and the man whore past became a little overdone in parts. In saying that will I recommend yes, will I read more also yes as for some they will totally connect and overall as I said it was an ok read.
i liked my first book by Magan Vernon, but found it hard to connect to the female lead. I didn’t dislike her, but definitely warmed up to Connor faster than Fallon. I appreciated that while they decided quickly to enter into the fake marriage, their friendship was fully developed before their physical relationship started.
I look forward to book 2 in the series.
Book 1 of this series.
After the reading of their father's will the Murphy brothers find they each have to get married in the next year in order to inherit the company.
First up is Connor, a bit of a womaniser. When he meets his brothers assistant he realises that she is short of money, so convinces her to marry him so he gets to keep the business and she ends her money worries. The more time they spend together though, the more they both realise they don't want it to be a fake marriage any more, but will either of them have the courage to tell the other how they really feel?
Looking forward to the rest of the series.
I need a wife if I want to help save my family’s billion-dollar pub empire. There’s just one problem: I never plan on marrying. So, I need someone who understands that this is just another business deal. I don’t do commitments. And my brother’s executive assistant, Fallon Smith, fits that bill. Fallon needs help with her grandmother’s expenses, and her pretending to be my fake wife is a way we can make that happen. She’s not my biggest fan, but we can help each other and then go our separate ways. That she’s beautiful and I enjoy spending time with her–doesn’t matter. When all of this is done, she’s heading home to America, and I’ve got a company to run.
This was a decent read. This is a familiar trope I’ve read in books before. I think what knocked it down for me was Connor being a playboy and it starting out with Fallon being with someone else (although that one didn’t bother me too much). Those are things that I really don’t care for in books, and there was nothing else that made this book really stand out for me over the others with the same trope.
**I voluntarily read and reviewed this book
Megan Vernon delivers another amazing Murphy Brothers book, with Straight Up Irish! I loved everything about this book! I can hardly wait to see what she comes up with next!
Who can resist a fake relationship- not me! I always enjoy a good setting as well, so this was perfect for me. Fallon and Connor were ok, but I didn’t love them, hence the reason for 3 stars.
This was my first read by this author and I’m unsure if it will be my last. While I liked the overall concept of the story and how it played out the slow burn was a bit too slow for me. I don’t typically read slow burns but I found this one taking an extremely long time to get to the romance. I also and a bit of a hard time connecting with the characters which also made it a harder read for me.
The whole fake marriage concept was good but not exactly what I was expecting.
I received this book for an honest review at no cost to the author.
Steamy Irish guy? Check. Cinderella story? Check. Hot romance? Check. What’s not to love about this one?
There is something comfortable about the Marriage of Convenience trope. Straight Up Irish is our first look at the Murphy Brothers series and I will be continuing to read. Magan Vernon packed a lot into the first book. It's a delicate balancing act to give readers enough series info to hook us, and still tell a complete story. Straight Up Irish is balanced and entertaining. The primary couple are really strong, well developed characters, and I enjoyed their slow burn of a romance. The secondary characters are varied and layered, interesting in their own right, and the potential for future stories bodes well. I appreciated the mature dialogue, it fit the characters and the situations. The love scenes served to move the story along. Ill be reading the series.
Straight Up Irish is the first standalone in the Murphy's Brothers series and not one to be missed. A fun, swoony, sweet, seductive, and sexy romance that practically charmed my panties right off and left me with a big smile on my face by the end. Magan completely knocked it out of the park with this book and left me wanting the next Murphy brother, today.
A marriage of convenience with none of the frills. Connor and Fallon both need each other and what they can offer. What may start out as contractual, temporary becomes so much more.... it becomes everything. They may not have been looking for love but it definitely found them.
Run to get this book and be ready to fall head over heels in love.
I highly recommend this book.

Page turning, well written story. Great characters and setting in one of my favorite places in Earth...Ireland. Loved Straight Up Irish and have recommended it to more than one person!
Connor had to return to Ireland for the reading of his father's will, where he learns that within a year, he and his brothers need to be married or they lose their company. For Connor it's a no brainer, find a girl, get married, get divorced... simple. Until that girl he sets his sights on, just happens to be Fallon Smith, his brother's assistant. Can Connor convince her to marry him for a short time? Can the playboy obey the rules that Fallon sets, or are rules meant to be broken?
This was a good story. Sort of a friends to lovers, while at the same time giving us the fake relationship aspect. With drama and with some really funny bits (Not Erin, I could have died laughing), not to mention the sexy times that were straight up steamy as all get out! I can't wait for the next book! I give this 4 stars.
Written as a Prequel to the Wanted series, but released as book 8, you may want to read the others first, or immediately after. This book takes a look at the lives of Gunner, Josh and Jeff before they all fell in love.
As told in the guy’s POV, this book is a great insight to what they were feeling while in school, lusting after the girls of their dreams, and the futures that they wanted.
I strongly suggest that you read the entire Wanted series, it is THAT good. Kelly Elliott can seriously write some feelings in her books, and makes you experience all of them.
