Look out, Connor is going to be your next book boyfriend! He's everything you want-swoony, sweet and sexy, all wrapped up in a nice package! I loved Fallon and Connor's "fake" relationship and all the supporting characters that added to this sweet and steamy romantic comedy. I'm wondering what brother will be featured in the next book in this series -- I'm looking forward to reading it as well! I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.
I need a wife if I want to help save my family’s billion-dollar pub empire. There’s just one problem: I never plan on marrying. So, I need someone who understands that this is just another business deal. I don’t do commitments. And my brother’s executive assistant, Fallon Smith, fits that bill.
Fallon needs help with her grandmother’s expenses, and her pretending to be my fake wife is a way we can make that happen. She’s not my biggest fan, but we can help each other and then go our separate ways. That she’s beautiful and I enjoy spending time with her–doesn’t matter. When all of this is done, she’s heading home to America, and I’ve got a company to run.
A fake wedding and a whole lot of whiskey. What could go wrong?
Fallon finishes her MBA and is looking for a job. She needs a good one so that she can pay for her grandmother’s nursing home and of course her student loans. She ends up taking a job in Dublin for the Murphy Pub Franchise. For the past six months she’s been keeping Connor, her bosses brother, in order. Calling him to make sure he got to his meetings, etc. She loves the sound of his voice but when she sees him in person she’s amazed at how good-looking he is.
Connor is a total playboy and not about to settle down any time soon. This is until his father dies in the will dictates that all three brothers, Connor, Jack and Sean must marry and be married for at least 6 months in order to keep the company. Also, this must all happen within the next year. All the men are floored but none more than Connor. He quickly comes up with a scheme that has him getting quickly engaged to Fallon, getting married and staying that way for a little more than six months. When that time is through she’ll have her student loans paid off and enough money in the bank to take care of her Nana’s nursing home for the next ten years.\
Fallon isn’t sure about this whole plan but decides to go along with it. The problem is that if anyone suspects that it’s a farce Connor loses it all. The more time that Fallon spends with Connor the more she likes him and she’s soon falling in love with the man. He is so nice to her but she knows that love isn’t something that will ever be on his radar.
Nice book. I liked Fallon ok and definitely liked Connor both by the end of the book. I must admit that Fallon was a bit wishy-washy and that bothered me throughout most of the book. She was just so indecisive and I just wanted her to stand her ground with everyone in her life.
Connor was a bit of a bastard at first but we didn’t get to see too much of his playboy ways before he was “dating” Fallon. You could tell from the start that he really liked her and that he was falling in love with her, even though he tried to hide it. I liked seeing the playboy fall. ;)
Overall it was a cute contemporary novel and I look forward to reading about Sean and Jack in the future.

I love marriage of convenience to love stories. Straight Up Irish did not disappoint at all. Connor made me swoon hard core. I so want a Murphy Brother of my own. Connor may need to marry to help keep the company in his family but I love that it ends up being more then that with Fallon. He generally cares for her from the start. Fallon is so sweet and caring. I love how she would do what ever it takes to help her grandma out. The banter between Fallon and Connor is an amazing build of sexual tension. Such and amazing read and I couldn't help but fall in love with Fallon and Connor along the way. If Straight Up Irish is just the start of this series I really can't wait to see where Sean and Jack's story come to life.
I do not usually read new adult romance but this synopsis sounded like something I would enjoy so I gave it a shot. I am happy I did because I really enjoyed Connor & Fallon's story. I like the concept of the 3 brothers having to get married in order to inherit their legacy. I am also a fan of the fake fiancee/wedding trope as it usually turns out very different than either of the couple going into an agreement like this ever see coming. And that's when the story gets really good!
Connor, the sexy Irish playboy turns out to have a lot more depth than we see when we first meet him. I was really happy about that. He actually turns out to be the sweetest man. Fallon has been working in Dublin for Connor's brother but has nothing to her name because of her debt and the money she pays to help her Nana who lives in an assisted living facility. This seems like it will be a mutually beneficial arrangement for both of them. And they do have an initial attraction so why not. Win/win right? They will both come out at the end unscathed and with everything they want. Or will they?
I like this series and I look forward to Jack & Sean's books!!
I received this ARC from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
This is the first book I've read from this author so I was really excited to read her work. I enjoyed the beginning but then it seemed to fizzle out. I wasn't pulled into the story as I had hoped and it seemed to drag a little. I honestly expected so much more.....this story could have been so much more but it was just missing a few things for me. One of the main things was the chemistry and romance between Fallon and Connor. Yes, it was a "business transaction at first but I felt as if there was no character development between the two. I wanted to see some type of bond or connection between the two develop and I didn't feel it at all. I felt a little let down. Yes, Connor did sweet things but I wanted more from them but sex. I wanted to feel as if there was feelings between the two and I wanted to believe it was there; it wasn't. With that being said, this wasn't a terrible read it just wasn't what I expected. I simply expected more romance and this story wasn't that one.
Straight Up Irish by Magan Vernon one of the best books I will read this year. This is the first book in the Murphy Brothers series and I can’t wait for the other brothers to get their turn. I will admit I am not always a fan of the author, but this book is by far the best I’ve read from her. I couldn’t put it down; Connor Murphy is exactly what you want in a bad boy book boyfriend. He’s hot, he’s brash and he’s dirty (in the best way possible). He would definitely charm the underpants off any nun in Ireland, (possibly the rest of the world also). The way he is written will make you laugh and smile, he will warm your heart and have you gobsmacked with what he comes out with, he leads a simple life, until a will reading changes everything, weather it will be for the right reasons or not you will have to read to find out.
Fallon Smith is a great character, she really does deserve a medal for all her hard work, always putting others first, will she finally put herself first or will she marry for everyone else? But she isn’t the only character that you will fall in love with, none of them fall short, they are all people you could imagine having pints of the dark stuff with and dancing round in the pub with a singer taking a turn. I am so excited to read this series, and meet the other brothers in more depth. They are each going to bring another level to the story and the
LOVED this book! Connor is the bad boy man whore that seems to sleep with almost anyone, while Fallon is a good girl struggling under extreme financial pressures. Then fate leads Connor is realize he needs a wife and he sets his sites on Fallon. She reluctantly agrees when Connor begins to romance her - from fun dates to extravagant purchases. Somewhere along the way, Fallon falls for him, but she has no idea how Connor feels.
This is a fun book that made me smile, laugh, and care about the characters. Fans of the genre will love this novel. I've added the author to my must read authors' list.
It was a sweet fake fiance. It was my first book by this authors but I am looking forward to the rest of this series!

Loved this book! Great light read that felt natural. No forced drama just a whole lot of sweetness!
Connor Murphy is the middle of three sons and the CFO of the Murphy' Pub group based in the USA. He has returned to Dublin for the reading of his father's will. Expecting the will to be a formality, leaving the business equally between the three boys, they are horrified that their father has made inheriting the business dependant upon all three of them being married within the year.
Connor is the playboy of the trio, a different girl every night. In fact the only woman he has any kind of relationship with is his older brother Jack's assistant. Fallon Smith seems to spend half her professional life phoning Connor to wake him up or to remind him about important calls/ meetings. The two of them have never met but they each know each other's direct dial number by heart.
Half-jokingly Connor asks Fallon to enter into a fake marriage with him, stay married for six months and she can have a massive divorce settlement. Fallon shouldn't agree but her poor old nana is in an expensive nursing home and needs costly dialysis which her medicare won't cover. Fallon's parents are drunks and wasters who won't help so Fallon uses nearly all of her extensive salary to support her nana and lives on PB&J sandwiches. Connor's offer would get her out from the mountain of debt she is sinking under and secure nana's future.
Having just read a book which also featured an Irishman I was pleasantly surprised that the brogue was kept to a minimum in this book. Enough to establish that Connor is Irish but not too much and no fake Irishness. Although having said that I thought his aunts were crudely drawn caricatures, surely they wouldn't say things like that in front of impressionable children?
Right from their first meeting Connor is struck by how sweet and kind and caring Fallon is. She is a bit sickly sweet TBH, the sort that farts perfume. When he sees that she has no furniture other than a bed in her rented flat he buys her a whole load of furniture as a surprise. In fact aside from the opening chapter Connor's reputation as a playboy is not in evidence. He's kind and caring and generous. He buys Fallon a new phone and sends a tablet to her nana in America just so they can Facetime each other.
Overall, this is a sweet romance between two endearing characters, even if they are both too good to be true. Both soon realise they are falling for each other but worry that they shouldn't get too attached because their impending marriage has an expiry date.

DNF.
I couldn't get in to this. I didn't like the style of writing or the so called 'hero'. It starts off him waking up in bed with a woman who will not be the heroine of this book. I hate that. There is no detail but he's not going to be my kind of hero with his attitude.

When I started reading I couldn't put it down I read the book i couldn't put it down. Magan is magnifysent writer.I cannot wait to read more of her books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book.
Connor is such a ladies man with all the charm. It's really hard for Fallon to tell when he's being sincere or just trying to keep his business in the family. Great romance along with some Irish charm.
