Interesting take on urban fantasy, with a premise that's not been overdone to death. Loving the characters and world building, and waiting impatiently for the next one!
This is the first book I have read by this author, and I don’t think it’s going to be the last. The book is also the first book in a new series. I confess I wasn’t sure how I was going to rate this book, a four or a five. I’m still waffling on which rating to give it. The author did an excellent job with the writing, the characters, and the plot, and I quite enjoyed the book from start to finish. I really liked the way the characters felt real, especially in the way Jack’s grief made him react. However, he really let his grief get in the way of his work in places, and I don’t think he would have done that after three years. See, the author made the character so real to me that I believe I know how he would be! Anyway, the end left me a little confused too, for similar reasons. All that aside, I really did enjoy this book and I can’t wait to see how everything is going to shake out in the next installment; one book simply was not enough. Highly recommend! Thanks to NetGalley and Sun’s Golden Ray/Broad Universe for the e-copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
