Sophie loves working as King's assistant. The increasing daydreams about him are more of an annoyance than anything, but when the chance presents itself she can't refuse. Too bad she didn't listen to her inner voice because sleeping with the commitment-phobe boss isn't exactly the best way to better a work relationship.
"Magnum. More like mag-DAMN. She'd orgasmed harder than she'd ever had in her life."
King promised his brother that there would be no work romances to complicate their office, but one taste of Sophie and he can't stop. If he could just move past it and get Sophie to forget it ever happened then his life would be great. But she can't and then he's in an accident and can't remember the past few weeks. Lucky for him, bad for her.
"Having sex isn't the problem. It's the emotions that come with it."
King may not be Sophie's favorite person, but when he needs her, when the company needs her, she's there. She won't put her personal dreams on the line to do it, but she does way too much for someone w ho treated her like one of his many flings. It's funny because I hated him in the beginning, hated her in the middle, and then just kind of felt they deserved each other in the end.
Forget You is a sort of second chance book. Once all of the red tape is gone it's easier for them to actually see each other for who they are. King thinks he's his father's son and afraid to be more. Sophie is afraid to follow her dreams and let her mom down if she fails.
King's amnesia and the way he keeps seeing things that remind him of things that he can't place is probably accurate, but after so much it gets old fast. I found myself getting annoyed at points. And with Sophie putting herself second to him after the way he treated her...I wanted to smack her upside the head. I did not like the characters at all, and the storyline was easily foreseen.
Forget you by Nina Crespo was the first book i have read by this author and it was an okay read. Throughout most the story the hero King was hard to like but towards the end he was more likable. I liked the way the heroine was portrayed. This office romance story felt like it was missing something though. Overall it was a good read and will be reading the second King brother book.
Forget You is the first book in the Kingman Brothers series and tells King's story. I received a copy in exchange for an honest review. King is one of the two Kingman brothers who both started their own successful commercial property company which put them in direct competition with their father. They have a terrible relationship with their father which the reader learns how the relationship deteriorated to its current state and it is pretty horrid to witness. King isn't exactly a womanizer so much as he is a serial dater who has no intention of settling down and has to all appearances never been in love.
Sophie is King's admin assistant and keeps him on track as well as keeping the other admins on track in the organization. She is someone they do not want to lose. Sophie is also a gifted jewelry designer who ignored her own dreams because her mother told her being a designer was not secure enough to ensure she was able to take care of herself. She loves her job and has made it a point to stay out of King's bed. Sophie stands in for King's date at the last minute and all Sophie's promises to herself regarding King go out of the window. What makes things more complicated is King is in a plane crash and has temporary memory loss and does not remember his night with Sophie. Unfortunately, this means he doesn't remember how rudely he treated her. Their work relationship is in jeopardy and any chance of potentially more is also crushed. King has a lot of work to do to fix his mistakes and he also forgets something that is vital for his company. Forget You is a good story that is a good start to this series and I suspect a bit of a surprise is in the works for the brothers. The Good, The Bad, and Everything In Between
The Good
-Simple boss-assistant trope is a fave of mine.
-The amnesia storyline worked because it kept a bit of tension for the reader, wondering when he would remember everything.
-The Firsts are enjoyable enough and the sexual tension is maintained throughout the story. I would have liked a little bitty bit more on the emotional side, which leads me to….
The Bad
-King, before his amnesia, is pretty a-hole-ish. Thankfully you knew he cared through his inner monologues, even if he handled their ONS so badly.
-Also, I said their chemistry was enjoyable, but it really could have used a bit more time showing their connection in the beginning. It would have helped to have at least some conversations or time spent together before jumping straight into their ONS. Alot is made of how well they work together, but you miss that bit because it’s all before their hookup, which pretty much kicks off this story.
Everything in Between
-The last grovel was ok. I wasn’t overwhelmed, but I wasn’t mad at it. It does wrap quickly and there’s no epilogue. Not bad, just ok.
The Bottom Line
I liked it, but it was missing that little extra to take it to the next level. However, if you like a simple boss-assistant romance, you may enjoy this.
Sadly this one did not resonate with me as a reader. I found it hard to warm up to either MC and couldn't really connect with their romance story. Although it had potential is didn't pan out for me. I questioned why Sophie was so attracted to her boss. King wasn't a very nice person and yeah, he had a head for business and a nice body and face but I need something more to draw a couple together.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher.
Office romances are always fun to read. I like to read about them since I've never really worked in an office setting it seems like it would be hard to keep up the pretense of nothing going on when in the same space M-F for eight hours a day.
Sophie is King's assistant and works her fingers to the bone for the man. King, who's always been attracted to his assistant, has tried to keep Sophie at arms length by being a total jerk. He's demanding and Sophie is the only assistant he's had that's kept up with him and his burly attitude.
There was a little drama in the story. A bit of a catty moment. All in all this love story was short and sweet. After getting his head out his butt King realized Sophie is definitely someone he needed in his life - and not as his assistant.
I think you'll enjoy this quick read.
Forget You is the classic boss/ assistant romance, just ramped up enough, that it blows your mind.
I didn't know what to expect with Forget You, I was expecting some sort of Alpha male and simpering miss book, but what I actually got, was a hot love story, with the focus being more on love, than on sexy, and while the sex is still very much part of the story, it doesn't consume the whole book and I found that refreshing.
When it comes to the characters, Nicolas "King" Kingman is arrogant but has that caring side, that shows through; he is passionate about his business, his brother, and not being like his father, who is vile, in my opinion. Then there is Sophie Jordan, she is a strong woman, who was raised by a strong woman and it shows. But you can tell that while Sophie will put up with Kings nonsense to a point, she is not a doormat.
Now, I'm not going to get into the story, as the synopsis pretty much covers it, but I will say that this book does have it all! Love, sex, corporate spying, amnesia, and stunning jewelry. The story is addictive, and the writing flows perfectly from the page to my mind, and what more can you ask from a book.
I give Forget You 5 stars
Forget You by Nina Crespo is the First book in The Kingman Brothers series. This is the story of Sophie Jordan and Nicolas “King” Kingman.
Sophie has had feelings for her boss for a while but King is a 'love them and leave them' kind of guy..never having a real relationship whit a women. When his latest lady leaves him dateless to go to a work Gala he talks Sophie to set in so he doesn't have to go alone. This opens them up for an intimate night where it meant so much to Sophie but King tries to put things back where their relationship was previously. Sophie gives her notice to leave the company but then King is in an accident that she steps forward to help him with his recovery....which leads t more feelings growing between the two.
Really enjoyed this book.
Nina Crespo’s Kingman Brothers series opens with Forget You, the story of a woman crushing hard on her amnesiac boss.
Sophie Jordan has been high-powered businessman Nic ‘King’ Kingman’s perfect executive assistant ever since Nic swiped her from his brother Aiden’s staff. She knows which tie matches which suit, how to make Nic look presentable for the many social functions he has to attend – and how to suppress the long-standing crush she’s had on him for years. But Nic’s a player, and his behavior and office politics keep Sophie from making a move. That is, until his latest squeeze dumps him hours before a charity function and he asks Sophie to replace her as his date.
Sophie’s reluctance melts under the weight of Nic’s affirmation, and her Cinderella night results in a whipped-cream-ruined borrowed dress and her and King witnessing another couple’s semi-public romp on the rooftop of the hotel. They head to Nic’s limo, explore one another in a flurry of passion, and enjoy the rest of the night in the condo he sets aside for such assignations. They both deal badly with the post-sex aftermath, and Sophie hands in her resignation in response to Nic’s cold suggestion they go back to being co-workers. Just after she walks away from him, he heads off on his private jet, but when an engine explodes on take-off and he bangs his head, all memory of the past month of his life is completely erased.
This requires Sophie to step up and handle company business and forces Nic to grapple with an aching head and a sense of confusion when it comes to his sudden attraction to Sophie, his body remembering what his mind cannot. When he returns to his playboy lifestyle, she can barely bite back her jealousy and dismay, and makes plans to pursue her dreams of designing a jewelry collection. But during a date, Nic has flashes of memory of sleeping with Sophie, which forces a confrontation. Sophie tells him just enough to enlighten him, but Sophie is the kind of woman who deserves a commitment; can Nic give her that in spite of his daddy issues, or will she be the one who got away?
The chemistry between Nic and Sophie is very strong, and there are some really beautiful moments throughout the story where they simply talk, sharing details of their backgrounds, hopes and opinions, but they spend thick stretches in the story apart between reconciliations, chewing over the secret of Nic’s rejection of Sophie and unable to finally say the right words. This can be annoying or an excellent way to create tension at the same time, so your mileage will vary as to how you feel about those separations. A last-act overheard-conversation-causes-the hero-and-heroine-to-break-up conflict is the worst part of it – but I’ll give it a pass. What I won’t give a pass, though, is the way the author allows Sophie to grasp her dream – only to inform us that it was furnished by someone else. I’d much rather she’d got there on her own!
I was more bothered by the fact that the amnesia part of the story isn’t very pronounced; Nic only loses a tiny patch of memory, just enough to forget why he gets a boner when Sophie touches him and why no other woman suddenly seems attractive to him (yep, this is a classic playboy-becomes-monogamous-thanks-to-sex-with-the-heroine story). It would’ve been more interesting if he’d forgotten much more of his past.
Nic has a case of the hot pants and he’s afraid of having an ugly, infidelity-rife marriage; it’s understandable, and even better, the book calls him out on his BS nonstop through everyone from Sophie to his brother to Megan, Sophie’s business partner, who’s known him for too long and isn’t about to let him get away with anything. He’s flinty and hard and a bit aggressive but not a total asshole. He knows what he has in Sophie, knows he’s been foolish in hemming and hawing with her, and ends up giving great grovel.
Sophie is mischievous, arch, funny, creative and self-determined; she’s not going to allow her dignity to be dragged through the mud even though she loves Nic. The book does a wonderful job stocking itself with some great friends for her; her roommate Robin and the aforementioned Megan don’t take any guff and exist as more than sounding boards for the hero and heroine - the relationship between Megan and Sophie in particular is awesome and supportive and just as enjoyable as the one that develops between Nic and Sophie. This is one heroine who has a life outside of being a love object for our hero. And she’s sexually experienced! And the novel doesn’t shame her for it!
Ms. Crespo’s writing is excellent, and the right amount of description and emotion ends up on the page and illuminates the action. The world she gives us is very escapist, very luxurious; Dynasty with mostly likable people, and that is a positive thing. There’s an unnecessarily embarrassing moment where their waitress and chef for a Sophie/King meeting turns out to be the couple they saw boinking away on the rooftop, and there is some sex-shaming language used to describe the women who slept with King before Sophie. Otherwise, Crespo tells a rich story in a short timeframe, with corporate intrigue, parental issues and true ambition figuring in beautifully alongside a really good, complicated romance and a champion of a heroine. Forget You is a glossy tale with a lot of heart behind it, so it’s easy to enjoy it in spite of its flaws.

Ok I’ve got to be honest – I didn't like King all that much at the beginning of this story, with his moving from one woman to the next, before he spent the night with Sophie. But when the story started to move forward he kinda sneak up on me and by the end I was rooting hard for him to convince her to take him back.
The fact that Sophie helped him after his accident speaks volumes about her character. I was so proud of her when she finally gathered her courage to peruse her carrier in jewelry business.
As for the love affair and grand gesture? The best part of the book. I love it when men have to prove and earn the love women offer to them.
»Before you left, I said you shouldn’t jump blindly into things. You told me that when it's important, you should. You0're right. I never believed in happily ever after, but now I’m willing to take a blind leap to explore a future with that possibility. But only with you. Take a leap with me, Sophie«

Forget You by Nina Crespo is about the woman who has always wanted her boss but knew he could never be hers. But after one night of passion, he wants things to go back to what they were. Sophie decides to finally leave, however, when an accident causes King to lose his memory, he needs her.
Sophie was so loyal, honest and sweet, even when others did not deserve it. Especially her boss, King. King on the other hand was so full of himself and took every female in his life for granted. He was not always the most likable, but after he loses his memory, things begin to change.
Will King realize what he has with Sophie before it’s too late? Though this is billed as a rom-com, I would have classified as a contemporary romance and a bit angsty. The story was quick paced and a bit light on some details, but an easy read.
Nina Crespo is a new author to me and Forget You is book 1 in her new The Kingman Brothers Series.
Sophie has had a crush on her boss King for as long as she can remember but he has never looked at her in a romantic way until a night she steps in as his date at a charity event, after a night of passion things go horribly wrong and Sophie ends up giving two weeks notice. King is involved in an accident and can’t remember the past month or so .........
Too be honest it took me a while to warm up to King, I loved Sophie from the start but by the end of this book I was rooting for a HEA for this couple. This is a fast paced story that flows, it’s full of misunderstandings between Sophie and King and for me that made it realistic because let’s be honest life isn’t all smooth sailing. Looking forward to book 2 in the series
4 Star Review of Forget You (The Kingman Brothers #1) by Nina Crespo
Nina Crespo is a new author to me. The premise of the story drew me in and it was a good read although to me it was more drama and angst that comedy which was what I was expecting.
Honestly, I wasn’t too keen on King to begin with but he did slowly grow on me; he was a typically arrogant, at times egotistical businessmen, who felt he was entitled. Sophie I liked, although I was extremely frustrated by her acceptance of the treatment given to her by King, I mean enough is enough.
The chemistry between Sophie and King is off the charts, even though he has suffered a traumatic brain injury and does not remember sleeping with his assistant Sophie prior to the accident.
In my opinion there was room for further development of the characters and the story line whilst good, felt as though I was missing something. Having said that I will certainly read more from Nina Crespo as I enjoyed her style of writing.

1 ½ ★
Sadly there was not much about this book that I enjoyed except that it was fairly short and I can get through it fast. I was going to DNF it but since I agreed to review it and wanted the review to be fair I figured I better read the whole book .
Reading the blurb I really thought it would maybe be a but funny and interesting. But really it was not all the funny and more some bad romance clichés over and over again throughout the book,
I didn’t enjoy the characters. King really was more of an A$$hole than anything and really just seemed comfortable in that role. Sophie was often very whiny and annoying and half the time her charm bracelets were more interesting than her.
It had some funny moments but not that many or something that stood out, I think I rolled my eyes more than anything throughout the book,
Sadly this book was not for me but I'm sure there are plenty of people who can appreciate King and Sophie more than I did
I rate it 1 ½ ★
Sometimes you need a quick little romance to pass the time and when I started reading this sweet read, I knew it was the perfect story for a distraction.
The author gives us a common theme; hot CEO and the admin – his second hand gal. Sophie has a huge crush on him and a once in a lifetime opportunity for a passionate night with King has her heart fluttering. And then the betrayal and Sophie feels there is no way anything good can come from it all.
I loved the way the author adds a spin that takes the common theme to another level and loads us up on the steam and heat. With a few delicious hook ups and his defrosting heart, we can’t help but fall for King too.
A light-hearted, delicious read that will leave you with a big smile on your face. Crespo delivers a sweet read that satisfies! I will be checking out more from this author!
I truly liked this office romance. The boss/assistant trope is one of my favorites.
I read an obscene amount of romance. With that in mind, I try to approach every new novel with fresh eyes but somethings just don't work for me. Boss/Executive assistant trope? Love it. Traumatic brain injury that makes the hero forget he slept with his assistant and that she submitted her resignation? Here for it. No explanation for why either of them likes the other one? No thanks.
I believed that Sophie and King wanted each other. I believed their sexual chemistry and even their work relationship. But I still have no idea what would ever cause them to fall in love. Plus (and this is petty) I just really don't get the allure of charm bracelets and can't imagine a chic clothing designer wanting them paired with her designs.
2.5 stars
I really liked this premise and when I got the invite to read it, I pounced.
Sophie is a good MC. She’s loyal and has a big heart and is basically a really good, honest person. King has potential. He’s cocky and a quite a bastard when it comes to women, but he’s {mostly} respectful when it comes to Sophie. I don’t get why they couldn’t call him by his first name, especially when there’s a brother, but whatever.
Plot wise it was sort of dull. I didn’t see the chemistry between them and didn’t find any of the humor the blurb promised. I wanted to see more of a connection on a friendship level. There are mentions of them working long nights together and her being indispensable, but none of that came across in the story as the characters knowing each other.
Overall, it was a quick read with a lot of potential. Sadly, there were too many plot threads and not enough meaningful conversation.
**Huge thanks to Pocket Star for providing the arc free of charge**
Nicolas Kingman and Sophie Jordan have worked side by side for a few years now and each has pushed their attraction to other to the backs of their minds; until one night they allow their desires take over and life as they knew would never be the same; especially after an accident leaves King with a slight touch of amnesia.
King, as he is known to his friends, has always been told he’s like his father. This isn’t such a good thing considering his father is womanizer and a jerk. With this King has decided that relationships are not for him; if he’s like his father he’ll just screw them up and hurt the woman he’s with. Problem with this, in my opinion, is that deep down King is actually a relationship guy…he wants to be a relationship guy. Sophie has watched the parade of women come in King’s life and watched him very nicely escort them out. Women in his life have a shelf life and it’s only about a few months long. After their one night together Sophie feels like her life on the shelf is pretty much done when she takes King’s reaction as a dismissal and what relationship they did have starts to unravel.
This is my first book by Nina Crespo and it’s also the first book in a new series which I think I want to continue reading. This was a quick and easy read and while I liked it, I felt like there was something missing. Based on the synopsis I thought it was going to be a kind of light-hearted story. That might be my fault because my first thought was thinking it was going to be something like “While You Were Sleeping”, which wasn’t a favorite of mine but that’s what I was thinking it would be like. The amnesia part of it wasn’t at all what I thought it was going to be. In fact it was more like blackout memories than what I would call amnesia. I’m not a fan of the ending, it just seemed really abrupt. It was like one minute they were fighting, then there’s an “I’m sorry” and the next thing, it’s over.
I would like to have seen more in the way of King’s relationship with his brother Aiden since it seem to be the two of them against the world. Anyway, it was an okay read for the most part. I’m assuming the next book will be Aiden’s story. The most intriguing part of this book was this statement from King to his brother Aiden…
“In Virginia Beach, when Gerard was trying to bust my balls, he said, ‘Out of all of you, I thought you were the smartest.’ What did he mean by ‘all of you’? There’s only the two of us.”
Hmmm…..I wonder how many Kingman brothers are out there.
File this one under liked but did not love. It was a quick read that was satisfying in its way.
King (oh how I rolled my eyes at that nickname) was more of an a-hole than anything else so part of me wanted Sophie to cut him lose which is not a sign of a super successful romance. I really liked Sophie for some reason (even if her amazing bracelets that are referenced over and over sounded super cheesy and like something I could find anywhere) and the book drew me in. They definitely had a connection and I was interested to see how they could possible come back from the aftermath of their night together. Easy to finish in one sitting and I liked it enough to seek out book two when it come out.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
