A great book by a fantastic author. The writing is excellent and the mystery keeps you turning the pages. Characters are well developed. Highly recommend.

This was a great short story! This is book #28 in the Cherringham series. I have not read any of the previous stories in the series, but I had no problem jumping right in and enjoying this story.

The preface gives a nice description of Jack and Sarah, our lead detectives in this story. Jack is a retired New York police officer who has moved to Cherringham, England. Sarah is a divorced mother of two nearly grown children who moved back to Cherringham after her divorce. It’s obvious the two have a history of solving crimes together, and I liked to see their chemistry and how they seamlessly divvy up investigative tasks. In this story, two local restaurants are suffering a series of mishaps, and each head chef suspects the other chef of sabotage. Jack and Sarah decide to get to the bottom of things before both restaurants go out of business.

This was a fun, quick read and I would recommend to anyone who enjoys cozy mysteries that aren’t always about a murder. I am looking forward to reading more Cherringham stories.

Thanks to #NetGalley for a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Cherringham--A Dinner to Die For by Neil Richards and Matthew Costello Super fast, superficial read. Retired New York cop moves to perfect English village, where everyone is handsome, nice, and able to live very comfortable lives without any means of support. This perfect village is lucky enough to have two, not one but two, top notch restaurants; that is, until it looks like the owner of one is trying to destroy the other. Is he being set up, or is revenge for past indiscretions in their convoluted former lives the reason? Again, slightly annoying characters--Jack the cop who lives on a boat and can whip up gourmet meals in a tiny kitchen and make the perfect martini, and Sarah who may or may not be interested romantically in him but sure spends a lot of time with him if she's not. It's never a good thing when both protagonists grate on your nerves every so slightly. The mystery was okay, the solution okay, the setting okay, the format annoying. Every sentence is its own paragraph. Please. I.e.:
Or-
Something else?
Anna smile at the two of them.
"You'd better go," said Sarah.
A smile from her as she nodded; dinner and post-mortems to come.
Ugh. Spare me. Hate this style with a passion.

I like this series. I pick it up when I'm in the mood for a British cozy but has an American twist. Jack moved to the small village of Cherringham after he retired as a NYC police detective. He and Sarah struck up a friendship and solve local crimes around the countryside. They're quite good as this is book 28. This story has a new eatery opening and the owners of the Spotted Pig are being accused of sabotage. Something strange is happening and it looks like soon both restaurants will be closed if something isn't done. Story introduces Anna as the new chef and looks like she may become an important part of Jack's life. This book is easy to read as a stand alone. The entire series is fun and not to complicated or involved in mundane details. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Another enjoyable outing with Jack and Sarah. Well developed mystery given the limited suspects. Would be nice to see Jack and Sarak work more together in the field, but as Jack mentions, their skills differ.

If you're looking for a shorter mystery read, these satisfy.

I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

great cozy mystery. Good for a rainy afternoon read. Makes you want to get a cuppa and a good chair and get lost in a good story

This is the second in this cozy mystery series that I have read and the best one so far. A short novel (all are in a shorter format) but quite good. A fun read.
Sarah and Jack are called upon by the local restaurant owner/chef of the Spotted Pig and his wife to help investigate some accusations coming from the chef, Anna, of a new restaurant in town.
It appears that 2 restaurants maybe too much for the small town of Cherringham. Someone is trying to put the new restaurant out of business with food poisoning, faulty plumbing, and other acts of sabotage. Anna strongly believes it is her old flame who is now married and owns the Spotted Pig. Jack and Sarah search to find who is really behind these acts before someone gets seriously hurt.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher, be-ebooks, for the opportunity to read this ARC.

I was looking to get into a new series. Unfortunately, this wasn't it for me. I'm too much of an Agatha Christie fan which makes it hard for me to like modern day cozy mysteries.

Culinary competition in Cherringham gets deadly in the latest mystery that comes the way, of amateur sleuths, Jack and Sarah. Another quick read but none the worse for that, it's both relaxing and enjoyable with a good storyline and well rounded characterisation. Recommend the series as a whole for lovers of a more "cosy" crime read.

This was a fun and quick read. I liked how Sarah and Jack work together to solve the mystery.

Not a lot of depth, but it was exactly as it was described...a cozy mystery. The English village was charming and the language entertaining. The meals served sounded interesting, though some did not appeal to me at all.

While I had pretty much ch figured out who was involved in the bad things that happened in the restaurant, I wasn't sure why it was happening. So that remained a mystery till the end.

I would read another book in this series if given the opportunity.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A nice reading, the perfect number of pages for a fast and entertaining reading.
I appreciated the style of writing, the characters and the interesting plot.
I would be curious to read a full novel instead of a novella.
Recommended.
Many thanks to be-ebooks and Netgalley

This book was my introduction to Cherringham, England and to the characters Jack and Sarah. A recipe for disaster is brewing when Anna opens a new restaurant, Bayleaf and accuses Sam the chef and owner of the established restaurant, the Spotted Pig of sabotaging her establishment. Enter Sarah and Jack, friends and amateur sleuths who attempt to discover if Sam is guilty or if someone else wants to ensure that Bayleaf fails. Finding the answer is at the heart of this short but well-written mystery and I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Cherringham.
Thank you, Matthew Costello, Neil Richards, be-ebooks, and NetGalley for the digital edition to read and review. Fortunately, there are quite a few other books in this series and I am looking forward to reading them all.

A Dinner to Die For is a well written murder mystery. The plot has many twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. I enjoy the writing style and hope to read more by the author.

I love culinary cozy mysteries, this one was good. Jack, an ex cop & Sarah a web designer are our detectives. A new restaurant, Bayleaf has opened in Cherringham. The chef at Spotted Pig, Sam knew the chef at Bayleaf, Anna. Someone is sabotaging Bayleaf, to find out who, read the book. A short interesting story

When a new restaurant comes to town, the Bayleaf seems to be struggling with someone trying to put them out of business. It appears the chef and owner of the established Spotted Pig may be trying to take out the competition...whose chef turns out to be an old flame from his single days.

Tempers are as hot as the food being served and the local sleuths set out to find out exactly what is happening before anyone truly gets hurt.

I have not read any of the previous stories in this series and it didn't have an impact on my enjoying this story. I feel in love with the charming town and its residents. These shorter stories are great for when I am super busy but still want to read something and get to through the whole story. I can't wait to read more in this series!

I enjoyed this Cosy Crime Series. I will definitely read the other books in the series.

This quick little read, really more of a novella, is cleverly written and entertaining. Pushing all of the “cozy English village” buttons, it has the added interest of some deliciously described meals!

A Dinner to Die For is a charming little story set in the quaint town of Cherringham. The mystery was solid, but what really made this book for me was the setting and the characters. They epitomize everything a good cozy should be. My only issue with this story was that I hadn't read the previous installments in the series, so I wasn't as aware of the characters and their backstories as I'd have liked to be. But I will be rectifying that as I plan to start from the beginning and read the rest of the series as soon as possible. I'd highly recommend this lovely little series to anyone who loves a good cozy read.
