Having read Linde’s more contemporary romance books before, I didn’t know what to expect of Blood Type, but I was impressed with with the overall story. Being the first book in the Blood Type series, we are introduced to the main characters Reyna Carpenter and Beckham Anderson as they go through a series of events to be together.
Now this was a very interesting read, the setting itself was different from any other book that I’ve read in the past and for that I applaud the author for taking the setting outside the box. This book is set in a dystopian world where vampires co-exist with humans, yet they are ones who hold the ultimate power.
At the beginning of the book we get to meet twenty-one-year old Reyna Carpenter, as she makes her way to the hospital facility of Visage Incorporated. The company is the largest in the world and it specializes in what they call body employment services (who Reyna calls blood escorts). These individuals who are in need of money will in some cases visit Visage to become blood donors for vampires.
In this world there are various districts where the economy is really bad and technology is not advanced. Reyna happens to live in The Warehouse District where any technology from cellphones to cars weren’t available to most people. It is for this case that Reyna has taken upon herself to provide for her brothers any way she can and that’s how she decides to become a blood escort. But she is offered to be in a new program, one where she will be staying with the sponsor permanently and that’s when the story truly takes off. Her sponsor is non other than Beckham Anderson, Senior Vice President of Visage Incorporated and as the two start to get to know each other the more she starts to like him. Yet, there are matters that could get complicated and a new law is about to threaten any kind of future they might to have with each other.
As VP of Visage Incorporated, Beckham Anderson enjoys its advantages and he is more than willing to take on a blood escort. But never expected to meet Reyna and like her. She is not just any blood donor to him, and he soon starts to do little things to make her happy while she is living in his penthouse. Though their sexual chemistry is there, he refuses to give up control and will not feed off her either. As they spend more time together, there more he wants to be with her but there is a new law that could end up pulling them apart.
I wish the story didn’t end with a cliffhanger, but it does and from the ending it looks like the second book is going to be great as well. The characters are total opposites who somehow work together really well. Reyna is determined to get any job in order to provide for her family even if it means risking her life/freedom. On the other hand, Beckham is more mysterious and keeps to himself a lot. There are little things that he does for Reyna that charmed her and she felt comfortable around him pretty quickly. We do get to find out why they’re the way they are as we get to learn more about their pasts. The ending had me freaking out, I really want to read the next book already! What I didn’t like as much was how easily Beck kept playing with Reyna’s feelings and how many chances she gave him. It was frustrating at times, but it somehow worked at the end of the book. If there is one thing that I thought of when I finished reading the book was of the movie, Daybreakers, it has a similar plot line minus all the romance. I really enjoyed reading something different from K.A. Linde, it was a good start to the series which I highly recommend checking out! :D
***ARC provided in return for an honest review.***

I really had a good time with this book. It is no secret that I love a good vampire story so this book got my attention right away. I thought that this vampire world sounded just different enough to be really interesting and I knew that I would have to make reading it a priority. I was pulled into the story right away and found myself trying to read every moment that I could. I found this book to be an incredibly entertaining romance.
Reyna feels like she has no other option left so she signs up to work for Visage, a company that pairs vampires with humans willing to be fed upon. Usually these positions are temporary with blood donors cycling to a different vampire after a number of weeks but Reyna is selected for a new program where she will be assigned to a single vampire on a permanent basis. This is how she finds herself moving into Beckham Anderson's penthouse.
This story is told from Reyna's point of view and I liked her right away. I felt her desperation and her fear. I also understood why she felt the need to question everything she didn't understand although there were more than a few times that I wanted to warn her that speaking up may not be the wisest choice. Reyna was confused by Beckham, or Becks, at times and he was very hard to read during parts of the book especially at the start of the story.
This book had enough excitement to keep things very interesting. The world that the book is set in is a little different than I have read before so I really enjoyed just getting to experience the world along with Reyna. The book did take a few rather exciting turns. I was able to guess a few of the twists but others came as a total surprise. I really liked Becks and Reyna together and thought that they had fantastic chemistry but this was definitely a romance that was very slow to start.
I would recommend this book to fans of paranormal romance. This book does end with a lot of unresolved issues that will most likely be dealt with in the next book in the series. I am very excited that we will get the chance to watch the relationship between Reyna and Becks develop over the course of the series. I can't wait to read more of this amazing series!
I received a digital review copy of this book from Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept via NetGalley.

A steamy romance that will draw the reader in slowly and entangle them completely. Great chemistry and smooth writing will keep the reader flipping pages.

I have read some of K.A. Linde’s books (I loved the Record series) and when I saw she was writing a series set in a dark world with vampires and blood escorts, I couldn’t resist it, I just knew I had to read it.
This is the first book in this series, so there’s a lot of world/civilization details and I absolutely loved the world building, the descriptions, the dynamics between humans and vampires, everything was beautiful written and I could actually picture this unique world and its civilization in my head.
Vampires are ruling the world while most humans are extremely poor and struggle to survive, Reyna is 21 years old, she can’t get a job because she has no college education and she can’t go back to college because she doesn’t have the money for it. I think the best word to define Reyna is brave. She’s definitely very brave, she feels like a burden to her brothers, who work endless shifts so they can survive as a family, but they’re scrambling and Reyna knows it and for her brother’s sake she sacrifices herself… by getting a new job as a blood escort.
Beckham is a rich, big, brooding, hot, mysterious vampire, a top executive in Visage, the vampire company that pairs vampires to human blood escorts with the same blood type. Visage puts Reyna with Beckham and everything in her world changes. She has money, some freedom but she’s now moving in a whole different circle. A dangerous circle where trust doesn’t come easy and it can be fickle…
I won’t be giving away too many details, I can only say that I’ve read Blood Type in one sitting, I was immersed in this complex world and invested in Reyna and Beckham’s relationship. The push and pull, the amazing chemistry between them, all of the secrets that Beckham was keeping just added more tension and depth to their story. Honestly, I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough! And then K.A. Linde hit me with an out of this world cliffhanger that left me screaming into my kindle… I have to say there was a thing or two that did bother me near the end (specifically, Beckham’s reaction to an event that led him to leave Reyna alone and Reyna’s reaction to Beckham’s, how can I put it without spoiling it, hmmm, momentary lapse of reason – you’ll get it if you read the book), and that made me lower the rating from 5/5 to 4/5 stars.
I highly recommend this stunning beginning to the Blood Type series and I can’t wait to get my hands on Blood Match because I’m dying to know what happens next!

Finally, I can share with the people my review of Blood Type by K.A. Linde. I am definitely a fan of hers and was captivated by the Wright series and am anxiously awaiting whatever is to come afterwards, but Blood Type, was definitely different. It was different because it was a paranormal romance that was dark and dank in some parts and bright and sunny in others. K.A. Linde introduced me to an area where vampires were running the government by providing a small sliver of hope for humans after an economic meltdown.
The setting was during a time where the haves had and the have nots were nearly destitute and equally desperate for anything or just something and this is where we find Reyna Carpenter. She is truly at the end of her rope and desperately applies for a position with Visage who specializes in body employment services. Once hired, she would go on to live with a vampire and allow him to feed off of her and in exchange she will be well compensated and well taken care of for the duration of her employment.
For these elite vampires and Visage, beyond the sky is the limit. They have wealth and luxuries beyond measure and Reyna did not have a clue as to what she was getting into when her blood type matched her with the dark and mysterious Beckham Anderson. Within seconds of signing, Reyna's life changes and she has no idea what is in store for her or the fate of her family as she whisked away to what reads for her like a whole new world.
In her new life, there is lust, love, luxuries, and a crap ton of the unexpected that awaits her, except what she expects, which the touch of Beckham. You see, Beckham is an odd one. Like really odd and so cold at times that you can feel the chill of his presence. He was a mystery inside of a mystery, but there was clearly something brewing between him and Reyna that was undeniable in the midst of his oddities. One minute he's hot and the next he is a block of ice. One day he clings close, while another day avoidance is his weapon of choice. It was a bit much and at one point I thought he was just crazy.
I digress. I enjoyed Blood Type and am going to give it 5-stars, even though it was a tad slow in the beginning and it took me a little while to connect with the characters. I mean like in one part Reyna was talking about how long it had been since her last shower...that ain't cute. All in all, I will recommend that you run and read Blood Type by K.A. Linde, because this author is definitely a storyteller. Also, this is especially a good read if you have a thing for vampires...particularly if you are a fan of the television series True Blood.
OAN this is one part of a series, so expect a cliffhanger.

The thing that I liked most of all the book, by far, is the setting. Worldbuilding is full-bodied and vivid. We are in a post-economic collapse society, poverty is rampant and only a select few live well if not normally.
The suffering, the trudging every day, the filth, the greyness, everything stands out as if there were a lighthouse aimed at.
Everything has the taste of District 12 on one side and District 1 on the other.
And then there are the characters.
If I tell you that they are very well characterized, do you believe me? Well, yes, okay, not all the characters are very well characterized, vampires are. And also the villains. Reyna, on the other hand... oh well, you know that I'm almost never a fan of heroines.
Let's start with the vampires: they are a bit modernized in their ability to get out in the sunlight, but at the same time they maintain the lust and blood-thirst typical of old horror films. Men or women do not care, they crave blood and living in a civilized society does not make them more human. I must say that the two villains are very creepy.
As for Beckham, he is beautiful and damned. He is different, but I can not tell you how.
The relationship between the two protagonists reminded me a lot of the manga "Midnight Secretary" and I liked it a lot because, even if that comic is the trash fair, it always manages to involve me.
And "Blood Type" was not different. It involved me from beginning to end, thanks to a very simple and super smooth style.
What did not convince me - beyond the protagonist who is a bit Tris in "Insurgent" - is only a scene towards the end but is forgotten in a hurry thanks to the cliffhanger that, fortunately, removes the effect "Twilight" to the whole thing (not that I have anything against Twilight, I continue to adore him like the first time, but here he was not there).

Blood Type is the first book in the Blood Type Series. A paranormal romance set in a futuristic world, K.A. Linde has crafted a story full of complex characters, passion, and romance. In a world where vampires rule, Reyna Carpenter has decided to make a financial arrangement with a vampire. She agrees to live with him and agrees that he can drink her blood. In exchange, she will have all the money in the world. Beckham Anderson is one vampire that seems impossible to please. As Reyna and Beckham learn to live together and struggle to find the middle ground between their very different worlds, a connection is formed and both can't seem to stop themselves from crossing the line.
Told in dual POV, Blood Type introduces a twisted world where nothing is quite as it seems. Beckham is such a mystery and his broody "alpha" persona is a perfect match for Reyna. The supporting characters certainly enhanced the plot as Reyna's brothers and Beckham's business partners cannot help but insert themselves right in the middle of it all. As each piece of the plot is revealed, the intrigue intensifies and the line between right and wrong becomes blurred.
Overall, I highly recommend Blood Type to anyone who enjoys a well crafted paranormal romance with complex characters, action, and passion. This is my first K.A. Linde read and I am certainly desperate for more! Lucky for me Blood Match will be coming out soon! I cannot wait to find out what happens next!

Blood Type is the first book in a new series by KA Linde. This book is amazing and a great start to this series. I don’t read very many PNR novels but I wanted to read this one because I love Ms Linde’s writing. She definitely did not disappoint me; there was a unique story line, romance, friendship, and the angst I crave.
Reyna went to work for Visage to help support her brothers. She was unable to find work anywhere so she applied to be a blood escort for the wealthy vampires. I loved this girl; she was full of spirit, was beautiful and was an all around good person. Beckham Anderson was who she was matched up with for her job. He was demanding, controlling, intimidating and very handsome. He had his moments when I loved him and others when I couldn’t see how Renya but up with him. You could feel the push and pull between them, it was palpable.
This story had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was going to happen in the end. It was full of twists and turns; just when I thought I knew what was going to happen, it would change gears and go another direction. I loved this story so much. Vampires have never really interested me much but Becks has me wanting to get bit! I cannot wait to read Blood Match to see what happens next.

Blood Type by K.A. Linde is book One in the Blood Type Series. This is the story of Reyna Carpenter and Beckham Anderson. Reyna Carpenter lives in a world different than ours. In her world, vampires rule and humans are living in poverty, barley making ends to meet. Reyna is a naive female who has a penchant of finding herself in trouble which resulted in her needing rescuing from danger. Reyna and her two surviving brothers are struggling, both are holding down two jobs which barely bring in enough food for the three of them. Reyna needs money so she does the one thing she knows will bring money for her and her brothers- sign up with Visage (the largest corporation in the world) to be a blood escort. Her blood is tested and she ends up permanently placed with a vampire named Beckham—who happens to be the Vice President of Visage. Reyna and Beckham have this chemistry but its not an instant intense chemistry, theirs is more of a slow burn that takes place throughout the majority of the book before it combust into an intense heat and steam. Beckham sweeps Reyna away to his penthouse in the city. He provides for her only the best food, clothing—anything she needs or wants. She can also have his driver take her anywhere, and a bodyguard if she requires one. Whats odd is that Beckham doesn’t even drink from her…WHAT???!!!! Beckham is alpha to the core and tells Reyna she will do what he says, when he says it. He doesn’t tell her what he wants, only when he wants it done. There are so many things at play and you have to read the story in full to know what is going to happen. I enjoyed this story and all the twists and turns at play. I cant wait to read the next book in this series. I loved Beck and Reyna and their chemistry was awesome. This was a great PNR read.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *****
“I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."

Wow. This was a very interesting book. I could tell Beckham had some secrets and it was pretty easy to predict. However, I was not anticipating that ending!! I liked both characters, felt the character development was really strong. I loved Reyna's strength! I give it 4 stars because it's a cliffhanger and you need to buy book 2 to see the end of their story.

AMAZING!
In the future, vampires rule the world and humans live in misery. For many, the only way to make a living is to work for Visage as a blood escort. When Reyna becomes tired of the condition she and her brothers are living, she decides to sign up to become a blood escort. Soon she's thrust into the world of the wealthy vampires of Visage. But Beckham Anderson, Visage's Vice President and her Vampire Sponsor, won't feed off her.
What will happen when Reyna starts falling for Beckham? And what will she do when she discovers secrets the vampires are trying to keep hiding from the humans?
I like Paranormal Romances, but I really loved Blood Type! Reyna and Beckham's story hooked me from the first page and I couldn't put my Kindle down until I finished Blood Type. This story is full of drama, steamy scenes, secrets, surprises, action, and twists. I loved the slow burn of Reyna and Beckham's relationship and all the secrets. Blood Type kept me on my toes and I loved every second of it.
Reyna is a strong and determined woman. She doesn't want to be a burden to her brothers and decides to become a blood escort. She's afraid but also curious about the vampires. She never expected to meet someone like Beckham and falling for someone like him, especially him being a vampire. I loved that she didn't let all the new found wealth get into her head and was always true to herself and her values.
Beckham is a mystery. He's a dark and brooding vampire, full of secrets. He's a powerful vampire and he's used to get what he wants when he wants. But Reyna turns his world upside down and he falls deeply for her. He made me swoon a lot, but he can also be a jerk. I loved how protective he was of Reyna.
This is my first book by K.A. Linde and it won't be the last. Blood Type is the perfect Paranormal Romance, with a phenomenal and captivating story and amazing characters. Reyna and Beckham's story will hook you from the first page with all its drama, secrets, twists, action and steamy scenes. And the cliffhanger will make you scream and demand for Blood Match to be released right now!

A paranormal love story was just what I needed! Haven't read one in so long, and I'm glad to say this new series was perfection! I honestly can't wait for the next book.
This story had everything...sexy love scenes, suspense, a little bit of violence and some thrilling action scenes.
The author created this new world in which vampires are part of the society and looking for a way to survive. They are in the hunt for a special type of blood that could change the future, but it's rare. By inserting themselves into politics they are trying to control the available blood pool, and that could be dangerous.
Reyna was following her last option, she had to find a way to help her brothers make money and even though she hated the idea of being a blood whore she had no other choice. It should be easy, giving some blood on a safe environment and then she'll be set for life.
But things were not gonna be as simple as she thought and she finds herself surrounded by some powerful and dangerous people. Add that to the fact that her owner Beckham is a force of nature and she can't seem to stop herself from wanting him.
Unfortunately, he has a lot of secrets and he is adamant to let her in. He is fighting their attraction with everything he's got, but Reyna knows there's something there, too strong to fight forever.
Their connection was just amazing, he went above and beyond to take care of her, he couldn't seem to stay away for too long, there was something about her that attracted him on a deeper level.
They need to trust each other in order to survive, the sooner they realize that the higher chances they will have surviving the real monsters.
Simply amazing! Can't wait for the next one.

Edge of your seat, nail-biting, can't wait to see what happens next type of book!!!
It's been a while since I've read some PNR and this books makes me question myself as to WHY????? I absolutely couldn't put this book down.
OOH this one had me from the first chapter. I couldn't quite figure Beckham out but it didn't stop me from falling for him. Then we have Reyna who was a strong, independent woman who was trying to do right for her brothers. These two bump heads, lots of things that Reyna doesn't understand but Beckham sure as heck isn't helping matters at all.
I cannot for the next book to see what happens!!!

Blood Type

5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Welcome to a world where Vampires and Hans exist together. K.A. Linde brings to life a world that will challenge the two main characters and make them come to terms over what the world is really like. Reyna and Beckham relationship starts off as just business but they will both stir feelings in each other they didn’t know were possible. Their attraction is electric and at each turn you will be waiting to see when they will finally give in to one another. Get ready to experience a new world that will spin everything on its axis and force them to see what is really going on.
Reyna is trying to help her family out and the only way to do that is to become apart of the Visage and providing blood. But when she is chosen for a new project and finds out she will be permanently placed with a subject, everything she has ever known is about to change. And when she meets Beckham, he will challenge her like no one else ever has.
Beckham is apart of the new Visage program and is already regretting it. He can’t deny the instant attraction he feels for Reyna but knows he needs to separate himself from her and keep it business. But as he spends time with her he can’t resist her, but can anything really work between a Vampire and a Human?
Together they will not only be faced with how they feel for each other but how their worlds work. But will they be strong enough to help one another? Or is it too much of a risk to trust one another?

No Spoilers!!Blood Type is a paranormal vampire romance story with lots of blood action happing...well I should say lots of Blood talk also! I normally do not read this type of story but I was super surprised that I really enjoyed the story and the writing style. This is part one of a three part series... there is romance in the story but unfolds a lot slower because it is a three part series. Overall I think Blood Type was very entertaining and made me want to find out more about super rare blood types:):)

REVIEW: Still deciding.....
"Every journey begins with one step."
I am aware it is rather odd of me to withhold a star rating until I have fully completed a series, but there is a reason with this one. Bear with me as I try to maneuver my way through my first Vampire PNR and how I felt about the story and the writing as a whole. And yes, you are reading that correctly: I, The Book Bee, read a PNR book with a vampire in it AND. I. LIKED. IT. Weirdly enough...I liked it a lot. I was completely drawn in to the story development and the different nuances this one had. However, as much as I liked it, I also had some issues with it. Not enough to push me away from reading more of the story; just enough that I felt I needed to mention them.
I am not a huge fan of third person; a lot of the time it's because it's just not written well. It doesn't flow well for me, and sometimes it keeps you on the outside of the story, looking in - not really feeling a part of it. Sometimes my ability to connect with the characters is even inhibited. Unfortunately, such was the case with this book. In general, it felt very scripted for a good amount of the book before it started to flow. Maybe it was me needing to warm up to KA's style of writing, or maybe it was the POV. I'm not sure, but being in that POV, it separated me from the actual emotions of the book and being in Reyna's shoes. It did, however, allow me to watch everything happen from afar. Which, if I think about it, is probably what I needed since I have never read a book in this genre and I needed to experience this one a little differently.
Also, if I'm going to be nitpicky here, Reyna was obnoxiously irritating. Why? I am not entirely sure why she was, but she most definitely was. Her job, her desire for this change, and her reasonings behind it all made sense, but her actions disputed that sense. Some attitude was justified, but many of her childish rants and tantrums were just that: childish. She didn't come off as strong and independent. She came off as bratty and immature. For someone who had nothing, she sure was ungrateful. I'm not bemoaning the fact that she had an attitude and rightfully so. Not at all. I just didn't care for her character as a whole. She could almost be described as wishy washy. I wrote in my notes that she was "stubbornly wretched". Her anger and rudeness were contradictory to some of her statements/actions, so I had a very hard time warming up to her. But again, she was going through something I can only imagine, so I had to dismiss her insufferable antics to get through some of the scenes. I realize she was in a situation she didn't want to be in and I can totally recognize that. Even though I felt she was completely out of line in some aspects, if I had to put myself in her shoes, I would probably be a bitch too. {{just saying}}
"Beckham was an enigma wrapped in a mystery."
That quote couldn't be any more true. Was Beckham perfect? No. He was was so closed off and too controlled to allow himself to feel anything. But there was something about him that I needed to discover through this story. His reasoning....his why. I wanted to know what was going on with him and I loved seeing his control break and him losing himself with Reyna, no matter how brief it was. That 'break' is what I looked forward to. I didn't necessarily feel their blooming love immediately though - it felt like it came out of left field. In the beginning, their relationship felt very clipped, almost forced. I was 'told' about this love long before I ever felt it, but I did eventually warm up to it and them and the book went a little more smoothly for me.
Having said all that, I know it sounds like I didn't like this book, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Even though I had some issues, I did actually really enjoy the storyline. Having never read a Vampire PNR, it definitely made me want to read more in this genre, but I felt like I was overly picky because I was paying attention to every little detail. I liked the way this one was different than anything I've ever seen before (I can only compare to movies/tv series that I've seen - lame, I know), but I liked the vision K.A. Linde was affording me through her tale. Overall, this fantasy world had me turning the pages, because as irritated as I may have been, I was really curious as to where the story was going - I was genuinely intrigued. I may have struggled, but I couldn't put it down and that is such an anomaly for me, but it also says something. I warred with myself between the writing and the storyline, but I have to say the storyline won out. I normally would have put the book down and walked away without looking back, but there was just something about it that really sucked me in. {{NO pun intended}} I'm very interested in seeing the outcome for Reyna and Beckham play out. I actually can't wait to read more of this series, as well as some other Vampire/PNR books. I'm looking forward to BLOOD MATCH and BLOOD CURE.

P.S. to my review: The writing in this book was quite literally jarring. We get a sentence. Then a period. We get a reaction. Then a period. We get an action. Then a period. It was very awkward to read. Where are the conjunctions? Where are the commas and the embellishments? Lengthen those sentences. Make the words talk! Make them pop!! Don't make them sit on a page, stagnant and not moving. The structure was almost elementary in form and it was quite distracting. I was told this was not indicative of her normal writing style; that this may be a publisher editing/indie writing difference. I can only hope.

This is book is a masterfully crafted world that will draw you in from the beginning. The author weaves a world of intrigue, suspense, love and betrayal. It is a world like no other that I have read.
Reyna is a woman who is just trying to find her place in this new world and find a way to help her family survive after the economic collapse. She decides to do the one thing she never wanted to but it is now her only option, become an employee of Visage. Little does she know that this choice will lead her into a new and even more dangerous world than the one she is leaving behind.
Beckham is a complex character that will keep you guessing. He is a high-ranking official in Visage and becomes Reyna’s Sponsor. I enjoyed finding out all the different layers that create Beckham. He wasn’t what I thought he was at all. He had a few surprises up his sleeve. There were times I wanted to punch him and then he would catch me off guard and make me want to love him. I love characters that keep me on my toes.
I really need book 2 (Blood Match). I need to know what the author has in store for Reyna and Beckham and all the other characters.

4.5 Permanent CROWNS
If you love paranormal romances, read this book. If you don't, read this book. Once again, this is not my genre. The last paranormal romance I read was Twilight, but I was certainly sucked into this world with its new order between humans and vampires. I was riveted to each page trying to figure out all the players and where their allegiance lies.
I haven’t been in love with a vampire hero this much in forever. It is like KA Linde took my favorite romance hero qualities and added the dangerous vampire component only to make him more alluring. I was thoroughly seduced by this man and everything he stands for.
Reyna is an interesting heroine. I didn’t always agree with her choices, but her characterization is solid and never falters. Like her, readers are stumbling through the new world, wondering who is on which team, trying to learn the rules of the new world, and being seduced by the danger and allure of Beckham.
One thing Blood Type will do is keep you in suspense. Everything from the relationship between Becks and Reyna to the edge of your seat plot line with keep readers captivated, unwilling to walk away. The ending does leave readers hanging and waiting will be torture, but I cannot wait to see how it all plays out.
I am not a fan of paranormal romances, but I found myself swept up in this romance anyway. I became captivated by this world, the characters, and the storyline. I am already waiting for more.
ARC received in exchange for an honest review .

It has been a while since I've read a good vampire book. The last time I really got into one was The Last Vampire series by Christopher Pike and I read that when I was in high school. I haven't found a series that I've wanted to read...until now.
When I started reading Blood Type I wasn't sure what to expect. Knowing the types of books K.A. Linde writes I knew that there would still be a fair amount of angst in the book. I was unsure of what would happen in the in-between. Would I like the rest of the story?
Well I read a preview chapter that she posted a while back and from that one chapter, I was hooked. I wanted to know more about this girl, Reyna. I wanted to know more about why she was doing what she was doing. Then we met Beckham. And the angst started and not only was I already hooked, now I was salivating to get through each chapter.
The story is well-paced and the characters are thought out. I love Reyna and her spunk and I love Beckham and all his broodiness. The story line kept me invested in the characters and in the story. And when the end came...it hit me like a bolt of lightning! I could not believe that's where it ended. And now, I am so anxious for the next book!!
K.A. Linde did a great job with this first book. I am waiting on pins and needles for the next book and where she is going to take this story and these characters.

The first in K.A. Linde's new series, despite this being PNR, I think I have to classify this as "vampire-lite." Yes, the whole vampire-human thing is central to the plot, but given the details of the way the story unfolds (which I won't go into here), it's not as much in the forefront as you might think.
Reyna's hand is somewhat forced by her circumstances, but I still wanted to shake her several times throughout the book for all the waffling/flip-flopping she did. Beckham is cold and remote and I never felt that I got a good read on him. Much of that is because the book is written exclusively from Reyna's perspective and that might have been by design - I'll have to see how the rest of the story plays out.
Linde does an good job of world-building and creating an intriguing future (?) where poverty is rampant and vampires have risen to the top of the economy by creating a business model around humans providing blood. Fair warning that this is a true trilogy and the book ended on a cliffhanger. So if that's not your "thing" either pass or wait until all the books are out.
