I wanted to love this book.. I love everything Linde writes but this one just did not work for me. There were a few things that just bothered me. One, I can't stand when a male calls a female little one. My grandpa calls me little one.. so that just freaks me out. Two, I did not like Reyna. I think she was brave for stepping up and doing something that terrified her so she could take care of her family. That is fantastic. But I HATED how she kept throwing herself at Becks. It was embarrassing. Becks straight up told her he was seeing someone else and Reyna thought it was totally fine to be like NO you want me! She just rubbed me the wrong way.

Now there are things that I really did love about the book. I loved the world building and I loved the society. It's different take on a vampire run world and I am in to it. I think it was interesting and very well written. I want to know what happens next. I really do. I hope Reyna grows up a bit though.. and I hope Becks can keep being honest.

I received a copy of this book from the author.

This is the first in a new series. The setting is Earth, but not as we know it. The economy has left most penniless and with now healthcare. Those who do find work, work in horrid conditions for little money.
Reyna can't afford college and can't find a job. Her brothers work in awful conditions, and barely make enough money to feed themselves let alone their sister. She makes a decision that will change her life, and not necessarily for the better. She decides to sell her blood to the Vampires. Yes, vampires have pretty much taken over. They seem to have the money and seem to run the human world. When she signs up for this, she finds there is a new program where they partner you with a permanent vampire. The pay is quite a bit more, and she doesn't have much choice. When she meets her Vampire, Beckham, he seems to not like her. He is always avoiding her and wants her just to be quite. Really confusing to her is he doesn't take her blood. Reyna feels alone and yet she is drawn to Beckham who every once in awhile seems to look at her with hunger.
So much going on, so many feelings reading this story. So many unanswered questions. Book 2 can't release soon enough for me.

FINALLY! Blood Type has been sitting on my kindle BEGGING for my attention for-freaking-EVER and I was finally able to get it in my line-up! I have been wanting a story like this for a long time…it’s a sexy mix between The Hunger Games and Twilight and it was right up my alley!

In a world where vampires and humans are both in existence but out in the open, the vampires are holding the control. It is an intriguing story of coexistence and finding a “cure” for the beast within. The humans are poor, desolate, desperate. The economy is in the toilet and the elite (aka the vamps) are living the good life. KA Linde paints a picture of this world so vividly. You can picture it all, see them walking down the clean city streets or in the dregs of the warehouses. Feel the emotions, the palpable tension in the air…it’s all there, waiting for you!

No one thinks kindly of anyone, because no one is kind to anyone else. One act will change no one’s opinion.

Reyna has run out of options….she feels like a burden to her brothers and only wants to do what she feels is right. By joining Visage, the vampire conglomerate, she sets things in motion like she never could have believed. She is young and naive but she is a fast learner. Reyna is introduced to a lifestyle like no other…the things that go bump in the night are now her reality. Experiencing this all first hand has to be terrifying but she takes it all in stride, for the most part.

This man was a thing of nightmares.

Beckham Anderson…holy hotness with fangs. He is controlled and impeccable. He is all business and is trying to do what he feels is right. Beckham was an enigma to me. I couldn’t figure him out, he frustrated the hell out of me but in a good way. He’s hot and then he’s cold. He’s pure adrenaline and then a downer. You could feel his anguish and the internal battle he is constantly battling.

How boring your life must be to have no one to fill you with passion and make your emotions run high. I’ll take my chances with the monster over complacency.

I cannot wait for more of this story. The next two parts cannot come fast enough.

Gripping and original. An entertaining and engaging paranormal romance. Characters are complex, the storyline is involving, and the plot intense. Reyna is a human. She is capable and determined. I loved that she was strong enough to do what she had to do to survive. Beckham (Becks) is a vampire. He is intimidating, brooding and a definite hero that brings out powerful emotions in the reader, be it love or hate or even both at the same time. Together these two make a compelling couple, with great chemistry. Does end on a cliffhanger.

I’m not sure how I feel about this one honestly. It had some good moments, and then some not so great ones. I’m giving it 3 out of 5 stars. This review is for an ARC, and reflects my honest opinion.

So I’m all for vampire books, although admittedly I haven’t read a ton. This one felt a little reminiscent of Twilight to me in certain aspects, but I won’t say how because it’s spoilery. It’s an adult book, so there’s obviously more language, violence, and things of sexual nature.

I wanted to love this one, but unfortunately it fell a little flat for me. The beginning was slow going with the introduction to the world taking too long. Reyna seemed too naive, and impulsive, to relate to her. Sometimes I wasn’t sure what to think about Beckham; he was kind of all over the place. I liked him sometimes, and then felt kind of meh about him other times. Without giving anything away, there were some action/dramatic scenes that were pretty entertaining.

There was a “cliffhanger” at the end of this book, but I wasn’t really that surprised by it…and it didn’t make me want to scream in agony for the next book. Although I do have questions that I still want answered. There were a few original twists in the plot, but I mostly figured out what was happening before it happened. Maybe that’s just because I’m a good guesser? No idea.

The setting of the book was probably one of the most interesting parts; it was kind of a dystopian world, but with vampires. Overall it was a good book, but I didn’t end up loving it like I thought I would after reading the summary.

Oh. My. Gosh..... As someone who has a major love for vampire stories I’m rather picky about them and this one quickly became a new favorite. It’s so original which is what I loved the most. It’s not your typical vampire story at all, the world Blood Type is set in is unique and brilliant. The characters grab you right away, some in good ways and some not so good. The writing in this is fantastic, I promise you’ll have a hard time putting it down! The next book can’t come soon enough!!

The characters were well developed and the storyline was well written which kept me totally hooked until the very last page was turned!

As a huge re-reader of the Avoiding series, I was super curious to see what Linde would do in the paranormal genre. The author created an interesting world where the reader learns right alongside the main character. Flowing organically with ease, this type of delivery of information creates a smooth transition, devoid of info-dumpage.

Reyna was raised by her brothers, all of them orphans, in a world where only the rich live above the poverty line. This is a world where vampires roam and rule, and there are new laws and legislation going into place that affects the humans.

Reyna doesn’t wish to be a burden on her brothers anymore, unable to go college to better herself because they don’t have the money, yet unable to work because she doesn’t have a college degree, in a vicious cycle to keep those who are poor in an unescapable position.

Out of options, for survival’s sake, Reyna applies to become the blood host to a prominent vampire and gets more than she bargained for. In walks in Beckham.

I don’t want to give away the plot, as that’s the setup and nothing that’s not in the blurb or sample. I will say that Linde delivers the usual steamy, angsty, gut-punch of emotion tied up with a paranormal bow.

Reyna is left wondering if she’s good enough for Beckham, if he wants her, if he wants another woman more than her, this adding the angsty edge that is oh-so yummy. Reyna is part martyr, part naïve girl who does do some stupid running away, but she’s 100% survivor.

Beckham is the classic douche – strong, reserved, reluctant, demanding, emotionally devoid alpha male. Rich, in a prominent position, Beckham has an image to protect and a secret being kept, and any affection he may hold for Reyna could destroy it.

Blood Type was an angsty, juicy, fangy read, ending on a cliffhanger, and I cannot wait to get my claws into the next installment.

I really liked the whole premise of this story. It’s a new direction in a vampire novel that feels different and fresh. While I really liked the premise and found the story intriguing, I also felt it could have moved a little bit faster. My need for instant gratification had me starting to get annoyed with the dangling carrot, so to speak. I also felt that more background on Beckham would have better connected me to his character. But some might like his stoic and very elusive, evasive self. To me, he was all mystery with nothing to snuggle up to except short glimpses of lust-filled eyes and plundering, stolen kisses. I needed some type of vulnerability in him far sooner in the story because by the time he showed any type of real emotion, I had already made my opinion of him.

Reyna was a well written female protagonist and had everything I usually like in a leading lady. She is doing what she must for her family. She puts her brothers before her own welfare to keep them from working themselves to death in the mines. Taking Beckham’s money and fancy home for granted, albeit, as his hired employee, she becomes a bit vapid and flirts a bit too much with danger. Becoming a little too reckless in her role in this very dangerous new life with lethal vampires. Without spoilers, I liked the idea that Beckham may not be all he seems and could possibly have a different outlook than his fellow brethren. There’s a large cliffhanger that was played out nicely with a betrayal that you didn’t see coming. I’m interested to read book two and see where this story goes!

I have a confession. Despite being a massive fan of Buffy and Angel, I’m not really into vampire stories and Blood Type is the first vampire romance I’ve read. I’m not big on paranormal stories generally, but every now and then I try to move out of my comfort zone.

So what did I think of Blood Type? I thought it was brilliant! I was quickly sucked in to Reyna’s life. I’m a sucker for characters that are struggling to survive, so I connected to Reyna right from the beginning. Reyna goes from living with her brothers in a poor area and barely surviving, to living in luxury with vampire Beckham as his blood escort. She is now getting paid and has access to the best of everything. Beckham (or Becks as Reyna calls him – which made me cringe every time she said it), doesn’t give much away and doesn’t share much with Reyna. Their relationship develops over time, but it is fraught with difficulties that had Reyna’s emotions all over the place. It had my emotions all over the place too!

This is one of those stories where as a reader you can see the bigger picture and you get to watch the heroine (Reyna) discover and figure out what you had already guessed. Even being able to see the bigger picture, there were still unexpected twists and an ending that I didn’t see coming. Blood Type completely consumed me, and I am desperate to get my hand on book #2, Blood Match, which thankfully releases at the end of June. Bring it on – I can’t wait for more Reyna and Beckham.

4.5-4.75 STARS

In a society where vampires coexist amongst humans and poverty reigns supreme, desperation becomes the seed for a beneficial alliance to take root. And the result of said alliance? Visage--a corporation that caters to the vampire elite, paying humans a generous wage to serve as willing blood escorts to their wealthy clientele. Still, societal prejudice and distrust runs rampant, with many humans viewing blood escorts with outrage and distaste. No doubt, there fears have merit, as some vampires prefer to treat their human meals as nothing more than subservient little play toys.

For Reyna Carpenter, becoming a blood escort is a necessity, not a choice—her family’s survival, paramount above all else. But there are two things Reyna never counted on:

1. Being hired as a “permanent” escort for much more money,

And her vampire match…

2. Beckham Anderson—the gorgeous, darkly brooding and intimidating CEO of Visage, who gives new meaning to the term, tall, dark and handsome.

As Beckham’s live-in “permanent,” Reyna is introduced to a world of infinite wealth and luxury. But with that, comes an employer whose temperament runs hot and cold. Becks is quiet; reserved; controlled. Yet beneath his steely demeanor, desire flares, causing Becks to struggle to keep his attraction towards Reyna carefully in check. But Reyna feels the attraction too and finds herself frustrated with Becks’ constant push and pull. So, as the air around them continues to sizzle, Reyna longs for Becks to finally lose control. But a fiercely protective Becks vows to keep a vulnerable Reyna safe—even if that means protecting her from himself. Because Becks is holding back more than just his emotions. And it’s his secrets that could ultimately prove the most harmful..

Boasting a unique and intriguing premise, “Blood Type” is book #1 in author K.A. Linde’s new 3-book paranormal romance series. While this is not typically my preferred genre, I found “Blood Type” to be a very pleasant surprise. Because at its very core, this is simply a love story—one with a touch of suspense and a paranormal twist. And with a cliffhanger ending that provided some answers while simultaneously posing new questions, this is one book that has left me desperate for more. Thankfully, the wait won’t be very long, as books 2 & 3 are due to be released in June and August, respectively--both, of which, I have already pre-ordered.

This series has been at the top of my “most anticipated” reads since Kyla announced it. I am usually not over the moon into this paranormal type genre mixed with some romance, but Kyla found a way for this first book in the series to consume me and I devoured this in 2 sittings!

The first of the series, Blood Type, we are thrust into a world that is very different from our own. Vampires have changed the world and the way humans live in it. In an almost dystopian society of sorts, Reyna seeks out a job at the largest company in the world, Visage. She is placed with the very brooding and mysterious Beckham Anderson. He’s a higher up in Visage and she is placed with him as his blood escort. What she expects her world to look like, is far from what occurs once she steps foot into Becks life. The things she wants from him, he won’t give her. The things she was expecting from him, she doesn’t get.

While their chemistry is obvious form the first moment they meet, the distance he places between them is very surprising and unnerving to Reyna. Becks is a character that provides us so much angst and edginess, you are not sure whether to love or hate him (I choose the later). As the story begins to unfold and new characters are placed into the mix, you see what is really going on in this world of humans living amongst the more dominant vampires. As expected, Kyla has added enough twists and turns to keep your head spinning throughout the entire book and not know where or when it will stop.

This is the first of a series of 3 books and does end in a cliffhanger. Even if you aren’t a paranormal romance reader, you will be after you read this book. My whole perspective on the literary world was jolted into a tail spin. Kyla has managed lure me into this genre and my new obsession over this series!

Blood Match, coming June 26th. My heart, dying slowly everyday til then.

This is the first book that I have read by K.A. Linde and I think that this series has great potential.

I really liked Beckham from the beginning and knew that they were more to him than we were being shown in the beginning. I loved how, even being a vampire, that he was trying to protect humans in his own way. Reyna - - I thought that she acted childish at times and I can't say that I ever really connected with her, but I know that she will develop into a strong heroine that I will love in the future.

I can't wait to get my hands on Blood Match to see what happens. I look for Beckham to lose his mind in this book......

The world has changed to survival and endurance. Reyna Carpenter and her two brothers are barely getting by and she’s about to offer her body to the vampire elite. Getting paid as a live-in blood escort is not what she hoped for her life and getting assigned to Beckham Anderson who is rich, demanding and handsome just makes it all that more difficult. But there’s an interesting development. He won’t feed off of her. All of the mystery that there is much more going on in these arrangements and around her leads Reyna into dangerous situations as she tries to figure out what is really going on with Beckham and his refusal.

“His mouth landed on hers, and it was like every kiss before this vanished into thin air. This was her first kiss. Because nothing else could hold a candle to the way his lips felt against hers. If she smelled like ambrosia, then Beckham truly tasted like it.

Sweet. Tempting. Addicting.”

Wow! What a world Reyna finds herself living in and the strength it must have taken to do what she needed to do. Becks is keeping secrets. As much of a domineering vampire he could be, I couldn’t help but feel drawn to him…just like Reyna. I just couldn’t figure out why Beckham wouldn’t take advantage of Reyna being readily available to him. All sorts of questions ran through me…can he not control himself? Is he just torturing her and himself? But as we venture further into the dark underworld things become a lot more dangerous. Things aren’t just as they appear. And I can’t wait to find out what is going to happen next! I’m so addicted to this world of Vampire and Humans living together and the fall of society as we know it!

Every single K.A. Linde series I read, I just fall in love with whatever world she sticks me in and the characters just wrap around me…flaws and all. They feel like my best friends or my brother or sister or cousin. I want to know every single thing about them and what makes them do what they do that drives me crazy.

Blood Type is an addicting novel that reminds me of Hunger Games but with Vampires and without the full game concept. It snuck up on me. I will admit that when I first started it, I wasn't sure how it was going to go. It was a bit slow for me and I was mentally preparing myself for that. Then after a chapter or two, I realized that I was completely sucked in.

Reyna Carpenter is desperate to make a better life for her and her brothers. The economy is bust and she can't find a job. Her brothers are working over time and they can barely make ends meet. So she finally makes the decision to go to Visage. A company that is ran and controlled by vampires. An organized blood donor company that provides vampires with humans to feed off of. What she didn't expect was to be placed with a Sponsor who is a high official in Visage and offered a permeant place to live. While it seems like her life went from rags to riches, Reyna not only struggles to fit into this new world but her role with the powerful Beckham Anderson.

Reyna and Beckham has such a slow burn romance that I was constantly dying for more of them. It was clear that they were falling for each other but Beckham was doing everything he could to keep her at arms length away from her sexually.

"It couldn't just be that you're a man desiring a woman?" "No, it's an animal enjoying the hunt. The monster within struggling to get out. Nothing More."

I wanted to know more about how Vampires were controlling the world but I ultimately wanted Reyna and Beckham to fall in love. There are so many secrets and I thought that Linde did a great job with character development. Except for Beckham, I felt my skin crawling with some of the other Visage employees and I loved that.

If you like vampire stories, then I strongly suggest reading Blood Type. Along with the rest of Reyna's human world, you'll find yourself struggling between hating and loving the vampires. The struggle will be real and it will be delicious. I can't wait to get my hands on Blood Match!

This is my first book to read by KA Linde. I'm all about paranormal worlds, especially vampires, so I jumped at the chance to read this. It was a decent read, albeit a bit predictable. It had different aspects/feels tied to it: Twilight, Pretty Woman, and there's another book that I just can't recall. I did like the concept of the story: vampires are wealthy and pay to have human donors that match the vampire's blood type to keep them from going crazy if they fed off any random human. With the economy being much poorer when it crashed many years ago, jobs were hard to come by, so many humans often signed up to be a blood donor in exchange for money to help provide for them and their families. This part intrigued me.

The romance aspect fell a little flat for me though. Yes, anticipation was built throughout the read, but this whole story was more business than romantic. A few kisses here and there, then one true sexy time scene, and some drama afterwards. There weren't really any heart to heart conversations between the 2 (except closer to the end) in order for them to establish strong feelings towards each other. I feel like KA Linde wanted a more romantic aspect to be involved, so she inserted some pretty random scenarios, but didn't follow through on them as well as I think she could have.

I liked how Reyna wanted to help her brothers and did what she felt was right, but at times I rolled my eyes at her immaturity. I get it, she had feelings for him, but kept throwing herself at him even after he rejected her, then get mad at him when he tried to put a barrier between them once more. Especially when she found out he was dating someone else. That pissed me off. She should've backed off instead of pressured him continually. She'd then vow "no more" then the cycle would repeat. I also hate how she treated him when he finally took what she offered him, even if after she had time to think things over and felt regret at her words. He's a vampire, she's human....she knew she signed up to be fed from. *rolls eyes* Overall, I did like her character's courage to do something she feared and was mostly unknown, so I have to try and remember to not be TOO harsh on her actions.

I liked Beckham's protectiveness, defensiveness, and the few random kind gestures he gave Reyna, but that was about it. We didn't learn too much about him besides he's breathtakingly handsome, wealthy, and standoffish. He was more hot/cold with his feelings and the way he treated her. If I had been expected to attend a meeting with him and his coworkers, I felt he should've at least tried to brief her a bit better than he did. There were tons of "don't speak or ask questions" then he'd be aggravated when she didn't know what to say/do in situations. There was a huge lack of communication and it ended up annoying me mostly.

So overall, this was a decent read and beginning to a new series. I'd rate it 3.5-4 stars. I'm unsure if I'll pick up book 2 or not. On the one hand, I'm intrigued to see where this goes. On the other hand, this book didn't grip me and demand my attention as I'd hoped it would, especially with the predictability of it. I suppose time will tell. Also, this book ends on a cliffy, so if that isn't your thing I suggest waiting til the other book(s) are released.

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC. This is my honest review.

I love, love, love paranormal romance, and I was so hyped to find out K.A. Linde was writing a story about vampires. She definitely didn't disappoint, and I'm eagerly awaiting the next book in this series because I'm ready for more.

The story follows Reyna Carpenter, a human who accepts a position with Visage as a live-in blood escort to the sexy, mysterious, and broody Beckham Anderson. What Reyna soon finds out is not everything is as it seems, and there's a lot at play behind the scenes and out of sight. Also, what's a girl to do when she's hired to give blood to a vampire who should want her blood but doesn't seem inclined to partake?

What I really enjoyed about this book was the dystopian feel and spotlight on issues that plague our society today. Vampires and humans may coexist side by side, but vampires are wealthy and essentially rule the upper class while most humans struggle to make ends meet. Reyna, who became a blood escort to help her family, gets to experience life from another perspective. However, she can't forget the poverty she's witnessed and gets a front row seat to a lot of the politics around vampire-human relations.

Of course, we can't have a K.A. Linde book without some angst. Oh, the angst lol. So good, and so worth it. The tension and building romance between Reyna and Beckham was fantastic. I really love Becks (even though I wanted to smack him at times), and I can't wait to see how his character and dynamic with Reyna develops.

Blood Type ends on a cliffy, and I'm not even mad. I just NEED Blood Match to come out so I can dive right into the story to see what happens. Overall, this was a great read, and I'm looking forward to more.

4 Stars!!

This book is the first in the Blood type trilogy and gives you an introduction to the world that Reyna Carpenter lives!! A world that is ruled by Vampires and Humans are more of slaves to them...

Reyna lives with her brothers in poverty.. To help them, she decides to become a blood escort for the vampires... However, when she is assigned to Beckham Anderson and enters the vampire world, she does not know that her world is gonna be uprooted!!
I loved Beckham.. He was a mystery and not easy to like at the start.. Infact I kind of wanted to kick him at times!! However, you cant help yourself but fall in love with him when the story unfolds...
And Reyna - her whole life turned upside down in a day and she was such a strong person that she fights hard to survive and be independent at the same time..
I cant wait to read more of Beckham and Reyna and the vampire world where a revolution is waiting to start!
And with the way this book ended, I already want to read the second book. And even the short wait is a torture!!.

I have read a lot of paranormal, but the world created in this book is so unique!! K.A. Linde never ceases to amaze me with her words in every genre she writes!!

Blood Type is absolutely a must read for the Vampire fan. It's dystopian fiction at the next level.

Lusty thoughts and fear keep Reyna at a distance from the man she calls her Sponsor. She isn't what everyone claims she is. She is just trying to help her family out. She is just trying to survive.

But all that is in jeopardy now...

Because Reyna thought it would be any easy job, disgusting but easy, and there is nothing easy about Beckham Anderson. Nothing easy about this life. Nothing easy at all.

The tension is electric in this book. The lust, fear, and blind trust are all pushing and pulling the reader in every direction. And when you are sure it can't get better- when you are ready to lose your mind, K.A. Linde ends Blood Type.

And now I'm left hanging and panting and just waiting...
Waiting for more. waiting for answers. Waiting for the fairytale.

"The end. That's where this book got me hooked." ~ Misty, White Hot Reads

I won't lie in this review and tell you this book had me hooked from the very beginning because it didn't. I actually struggled for a lot of this book. And I personally think it's because I just haven't read this genre in awhile and I went in expecting something very different than what I got. But by the end, this was a very good thing. The writing was excellent, the characters and their development were on point and the last 30-40 percent is where the author got me. Now where is the next one?

Anyone who knows me knows that I absolutely love paranormal romance. There is something about the world building and the alpha male hero and the sassy woman who brings him to his knees. Rayna and Beckham were great. I loved their intense sexual chemistry and fiery banter. I could not get enough!

When poverty stricken Reyna Carpenter decides to make a better life for herself and her two brothers by becoming a permanent employee of Visage and a permanent food source for a Vampire, she is matched with Beckham Anderson. But as the political climate between humans and vampires become more volatile and emotional lines get crossed between Beckham and Reyna will they be able to realize what they mean to one another before danger comes knocking on their door?

While I loved the unique storyline, the world building, Beckham's broody and intense nature and his combustible chemistry with Rayna, I did feel that the ending to this story was somewhat rushed. Beckham was fantastic but his hot and cold/push and pull demeanor was frustrating at times. I would have also liked to see more of a fight in Reyna instead of her easy acceptance of his behavior. But that ending was amazing and so crazy!! I need book two ASAP!! Bravo! Stars! ~Ratula

4 stars.

I just started getting into the paranormal genre again and I've been addicted to it ever since and this book was the reason why. IT WAS SO FREAKING GOOD AND I NEED MORE.

The world that Kyla was able to create with the humans and vampires was nothing short of phenomenal. I loved, loved everything about it. I absolutely adored Reyna as well and how strong and independent she was and what she stood for. I sort of had a love/hate relationship with Becks but in the end he did win me over.

I'm so glad I gave this book a chance. It was addictive and one of my favorite PNR books I've read in a long time. I can't wait for the next book. So happy it's out soon!
