I kept hearing about this book, even saw a late night infomercial about it and was intrigued. I was able to read it for free through Netgalley and I am so grateful I didn't have to waste my hard earned money to read it. Being part of the middle class, this book did nothing for me. This book will only help business owners and those in a higher tax bracket than I.
This book breaks down what can still affect your 2017 taxes, as well as changes for 2018 taxes. I read via e-book a tablet using the Kindle app and some of the charts did not translate very well and zooming in didn't work well either. However, the tax information was very helpful, including links to various outside sources and I appreciated them recommending readers get professional help for more complex tax topics. The personal tax topics were easy to understand, and they did a nice job trying to explain complex business tax issues. Even if the reader gets overwhelmed just thinking about taxes I think they will find this book very helpful in at least knowing what information they need to have to complete their taxes. In saying that the book often refers to items that expired in 2016 and that may confuse readers. My understanding is that some of those items could be reinstated by congress or may become relevant in future years. I received a copy of this book through NetGalley.
I thought this book had some useful information, but I was put off by the praise of Trump. I think that the book would have been a lot better if the author had not expressed their political view.
I found this book to be an extremely helpful reference guide to the new tax laws that are/will be in place. Taxes can be a very tricky thing for the average Joe. In this book, Rosenberg does a wonderful job of keeping things simple and easy to understand. The book is well organized and useful.
I recommend this book to anyone who is doing their own taxes this year as well as to tax
professionals who need to brush up on some of the changes that are occurring.
Thank you to Netgalley, Eva Rosenberg, and Humanix Books for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A very through book on the tax law changes occurring in 2018 as a tax preparor I found it very informative and useful
Four stars
A good overview for understanding the basics of the new tax laws.
I voluntarily read an advanced copy.
A quick, easy guide to the "Tax Cuts and Jobs Act" of 2017. Better known as the "Trump Tax Plan". With short chapters on how the law will affect you personally. Chapters on home ownership, tax credits, medical deductions, charitable deductions, and retirement.
Not a comprehensive book to get you through doing your taxes yourself, but it provides an idea of things to be looking for when you talk with your tax preparation professional.
