Best of Luck by Jill Sanders is a sweet, soulful page turning read.
I Really Enjoyed the story and cannot recommend it enough to all readers.
I received a complimentary copy of this book AND I also purchased a copy.
This was a wonderful enchanting story. Amber leaves Denver for the bright lights of Hollywood. All she has ever talked about was being a star. She leaves behind her entire family and the love of her life, Tom. Unfortunately for Amber, Tom is her brother's best friend and he is also engaged to be married. Tom has feelings for Amber but her older brother, Aiden, his BFF, had warned him to stay away from his sister, thus he let her go to California to follow her dream.
This story has a plot twist to it that I really didn't see coming. It was a beautifully written bookcation for me. Being able to see into both of the characters' thinking and thoughts, because the book was written in a dual POV, was very enlightening.
While this is a part of a series and prior characters make multiple appearance, this book can be read as a stand-alone. Also this book is a sexy book so I can only recommend this book to someone over the age of 18.
This is a fantastic book. I recommend you read it.
Amber only want one thing in life and that was to be a star. So everyone though but really she just wanted her brothers best friend Tom. She just believe he does not want her. He is 7 year older than her.
Tom want Amber to be happy and if that is making movies then so be it. He did not know till she came home after being gone for two year just what life in Hollywood was like. Plus add in her brother is his best friend and he is 7 years older than she is. When they slept together the first time it ment something to him but how to tell Aiden the protective big brother is another thing.
When a picture is posted of Amber and Tom; Aiden knows that his sister is in love with his best friend and vis-versa. What is he to do when he wants he sister to have what she has always wanted?
I this book you find out a lot of crazy thing can happen and not every thing is true. You will also see that what everyone that was what Amber wanted was in fact not what she wanted at all. I love this story and how it was wrote. I love that at times all of the people in the book was wrong so it was just not one person. I love Jill Sanders books books but this is by far my favorite. THANKS JILL SANDERS for all you hard work to write this wonderful book.
Interesting story and plot, I really enjoyed this story, I am a fan of Jill Sanders story and she didn’t disappoint me with one either
I finished this book, but dont think it really stands out among so many others of its type. I’ll try the author again if a plot line seems unusual enough.
Amber had a crush on her brother's best friend as long as she could remember, but she wanted to go off and pursue her acting dreams in Hollywood. When she is given a role that brings her close to home, she soon realizes the biggest dream of her life was in front of her the whole time.
Great read. I am a huge fan of Jill Sanders.
Best of Luck is the third book in the Lucky Series. It was marketed as a stand alone, but I did feel like I missed a little bit of backstory. However, I soon moved past that feeling and just enjoyed the story of Amber and Tom.
Amber and Tom have had an attraction forever, but Amber is 9 years younger than Tom who just happens to be Amber’s brother’s best friend. And like all good brothers, Aiden had warned Tom not to date Amber. Amber’s family have treated Tom as part of their family for years. Tom didn’t want to do anything to ruin his friendship or his position within the family that wasn’t his own.
Amber always wanted to become an actress and Amber heads to Hollywood to make that dream come true. Now that she is a well known actress, she comes home to film a movie. Tom and Amber have waited for each other long enough. Discovering that her family is not opposed to them becoming a couple also helps them move forward from their friendship.
When someone starts stalking Amber, the story has a suspense you want to read to find out who it is and how will their relationship withstand the pressures.
Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review an ARC of this book and I am providing my honest review.
Best of Luck is a good story with one of my favorite tropes, falling for the best friend's sibling. As a fan of Jill Sanders I really wanted to love this story but...I didn't. It was good and there wasn't anything in particular I didn't like, I just didn't feel invested in the Tom or Amber.
This story is about a younger sister fascinated with her brother's best friend, but thinks there is no way a relationship with him is feasible, so she leaves to pursue her passion for acting.Cue a few years later and she returns to find that her love interest is available and interested but wary.A clandestine affair ensues, but soon becomes common knowledge.Paparazzi pursues the couple and threats are made.Who could the villain be ? Subtle clues are present but you only recognize them when you review the events in hindsight.Loved that the book kept me guessing, loved the direction that the main characters took and especially loved the ending. This book was not only well written but was believable, the characters engaging and the plot credible.Ms Sanders showed that true love can withstand evil forces, distance and time and come out even stronger.
In Book 3 of Jill Sanders' Lucky Series, an up and coming actress returns to her hometown of Denver to film her next movie. It isn't long before she is reconnecting with her brother's best friend who has always held a special place in her heart. Likeable characters, romance and a touch of mystery were just the right combination to keep me engaged in this story.
A Second chance, brothers best friend and little sister romance, yes please. It's cute and will keep you glued to the pages. Tom and Amber I love. Tom may have a few miss steps along the way when it comes to Amber but you can tell how much he loves her. Amber doesn't have an easy life living in the spot light. I love how she just takes it with ease. Tom is sweet and protective, totally swoon worthy. Amber is so down to earth. I love the pull between Tom and Amber. You can't deny they were made for each other. I love the added twist with this one. Such an amazing series.
I’m generally a fan of romances that involve celebrities AND that involve stories of forbidden love – this one definitely delivers on both of those tropes. This is the third book in the Lucky series but I don’t feel like I missed anything by coming in without having read the first two. This definitely can be read as a stand-alone novel. This one was a sexy, fun, interesting romance. There is a suspense storyline that was done well but the romance aspect is what I enjoyed the most. I really liked Tom and Amber as a couple. It was interesting to see them navigate the complexities of their relationship. I love that Amber is so independent and confident. She forces uncomfortable conversations which was enjoyable to see in a romantic heroine. All in all, this was a really good read for me. I haven’t read a lot of Jill Sanders but I definitely will be picking up more soon!
This is the story of Amber & Tom, from Jill Sander's Lucky Series. A great addition to the series, this book has sizzling romance wrought with angst over a gap in age as well as a desire for different things out of life. The plot is further enhanced with aggressive paparazzi, a crazed stalker and more. If you like a good steamy romance with a bit of drama and spice, then this book is definitely for you. While it isn't a necessity to read all the books in the series to enjoy this book, it is a good series and is worth your time to read them all. Everyone's life can use a small dose of sizzle, right!?!
Best of Luck, by Jill Sanders is a contemporary romance, and the third book in the Lucky series.
Amber's dream has always to be a famous actress, yet she's secretly always wanted to marry Tom - her brother's best friend. Over the years, Amber and Tom have secretly kissed and more, yet their relationship never progressed.
Now, Amber has temporarily moved back to her hometown, where Tom also lives. Both Tom and Amber are dealing their ongoing attraction, as well as with their insecurities, age gap, lifestyle differences, and miscommunication.
Even though it's the third book in the Lucky series, this book may be read as a standalone.
Best of Luck is geared towards those who enjoy reading modern romances.
Note: I received this book from NetGalley, which is a program designed for bloggers to write book reviews in exchange for books, yet the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Amber has always had two ambitions in life, one to be a famous movie star, and two to have Tom in her life. Her first wish has come true, and she's living the dream in Hollywood, making a name for herself, and now to make things even better, she has to go back to her home town to film her latest movie for a few months. Amber will get the chance to spend some time with her family and friends. She hopes things won't be too awkward with Tom after the last time they saw each other.
Tom is best friends with Amber's older brother Aiden, and as such was warned off her when they were all young. Tom didn't want to lose his best friend and had tried to keep his distance from Amber. There would be so much trouble if Aiden ever found out what had happened. Tom had been like part of the family all his life.
Would Amber and Tom ever be able to show their true feelings, and now that Amber was a famous movie star would she still feel the same way about Tom?
A great story of forbidden love, a nice little undercurrent mystery and drama running through to keep you guessing.
I realized about a third of the way into this book that I had confused this author with Jill Shalvis, who I love. This book was odd - it was primarily about sex, lots of sex, and not the development of the romance. Also, with a 7 year age difference, the H and h had to have been attracted to each other when he was 20 or 21 and she was 13 or 14. That was just too icky for me. Also, either Tom was jealous of Amber's relationship with Marcus or he was not, but he wouldn't go back and forth and back and forth as portrayed in this book.
This is book 3 in the Lucky series but can be read easily as a standalone (my first read in this series)
Friendship, family, a promise and dreams.
Tom and Amber have an attraction but differences and friendships makes it forbidden.. As dreams are realized others may need to be forsaken.
A heartwarming fun read with some heated scenes and then while you are merrily reading along happy and content BANG the unexpected happens.
On the anniversary of it's publishing date, I read Best of Luck by Jill Sanders, book three in her Lucky series.
If you're already a fan of Sanders, you're probably already familiar with the characters in this series. But if you're like myself, you are connecting with everyone for the first time. Sometimes that's good; sometimes not so much. Having not read the previous installments I can't safely say if the holes in this story is because of my lack of previous familiarity with the characters or not, but I was definitely left wanting.
Amber has only wanted two things in life; to be a superstar actress andafter two years in Hollywood she is well on her way. And Tom. She's loved Tom all her life.
Tom has wanted two things his whole life. Amber. And to keep his best friend Aiden from killing him over Amber, Aiden's little sister.
The story has a very basic storyline; how to get the girl and preserve a lifelong friendship after your best friend finds out you're in love with his baby sister. Who happens to be a movie star.
My first problem, as others out there undoubtedly have encountered with jumping into the midst of a series, is lack of prior knowledge about the major players involved. Is there a back story we missed that may give agreater appreciation for how the characters are falling in love? Will there be inside jokes we as newcomers will fail to get? Will we have to sit through hurried recaps of what transpired before or, worse, won't get any at all?
I believe I must have missed something not having read the prior books. When the story opens it takes place as Amber is saying goodbye to hop a plane to California. She going to finally try it in the big leagues. There's hint of a lost storyline having to due with her sister and her goodbye to her longtime crush just left me scratching my head. Why? He's engaged! Wait, what? There's obvious something between them but he's marryingsomeone else and she's heading toward her dreams. But they say a very tipid goodbye and then Amber heads for her plane.
When next we meet up with Amber, she's back at the airport after flying in to spend the next few months filming a big movie in her own hometown. And there's Tom. He never got married and is anxiously awaiting Amber's return.
I was left wanting because to those of us first timers to this series, I wasn't given much back story. I didn't feel the pent up emotions or sexual frustrations of two people who were secretly in love with each other. It seemed to me that we just jumped right into bed and love without any build up. I love a good build up. It makes the love scenes that much more powerful.
And what was a bit disconcerting was the secondary storyline was much more interesting than that of Amber and Tom. It was well written and kept me guessing.
Overall, this was a story worth reading if for no other reason than to find out who-done-it. I give it a 3 star rating because I did enjoy the love scenes and finding out what was going on with that secondary storyline. I didn't give it more stars because I believe it could have done better to make me love Amber and Tom's story.
I'll reserve too harsh a judgment til after I've read books one and two. Book fours is scheduled to be released next month on March 13th.
Loved this sweet, but steamy romance! Best Of Luck is the third book in the Lucky series and my favorite so far. This story had a little bit of everything.....romance, steamy, sizzling, chemistry between the two main characters, Amber and Tom, action, mystery, and suspense. I was drawn into the story from beginning to end and thouroughly enjoyed it! Highly recommend.
A lovely story that made me fall in love with Amber and Tom, they wanted each other but never quite told the other and Amber's brother being Tom's best friend makes it an interesting obstacle. I enjoy reading about this two and can't wait to read the rest of the series
