Nancy Thayer is one of my favorite authors. I've read a number of her books and find all of them to focus on relationships between women. This is no different. Alison is a 50+ woman who has found happiness after losing her first husband. She's marrying for the second time on Nantucket. Her daughters, Jane and Felicity, are a big part of her life and she initially invites them to the house on Nantucket for a girl's weekend. Soon after, her fiance's children, Poppy and Ethan, are introduced and the story really finds it's legs. Family dynamics are an important part of this book, both between Alison and David's families and between the families who will become blended after wedding.

This book is funny some times and incredibly sad on other occasions. I enjoyed it immensely and recommend it highly to women who love books about relationships and the chaos they can bring.

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House-Ballentine for the opportunity to read and review this book.

What a beautiful story about love and family. Alison and David are not your everyday engaged couple. They both have been married before and lost there partners too soon. Both thought that love would not find them again. This to me was a very entertaining read. The family dynamics of trying to blend both grown married children and grandchildren, had it's ups and downs. I loved the characters, especially Alison and David. They both were so loving and giving. The grown children with their very different personalities, well, some you like more than others. Throw in two precocious little ladies and a couple of rambunctious boys, it made for a very busy summer. The author details beautiful Nantucket so well, you want to spend a vacation there on the island. I recommend this book. If you let her Nancy Thayer will take you on an incredible journey. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Ballantine Books through NetGalley, Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

A fabulous wedding is the center piece of this charming romance that takes place on Nantucket. Allison, a widow, never expected to marry again and David the handsome, wealthy groom who loves her exponentially have four adult children. Felicity and Jane are Allison’s daughters; Poppy and Ethan are David’s children. All provide the angst in this tale. Temptation, infidelity, and high drama are all facets of the story. But Nantucket works its magic, as Allison had hoped it would, to bring them all together for the wedding and motivate them to repair the failings in their relationships. A must read for fans of Thayer and romance!

I'll admit that I'm a fan of just about any romance novel set in Nantucket. This one by Nancy Thayer introduces you to Alison, a middle-aged woman and her two daughters Felicity and Jane. Alison's husband has died and she has found love again with David, another widower. David has adult children of his own. This story meshes the blended family together in a summer home on Nantucket in the days leading up to the wedding. Both Felicity and Jane are going through different marital crises. All of the stories were interesting and the book was quick read. Can I be invited to this wedding? lol
Thanks to Random House-Ballantine and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in return for my honest review.

A Nantucket Wedding was such an enjoyable read for me, following this blended family wasn’t without some drama though. It can be a little tricky when it comes to having adult children, who also have their own children when remarrying a man who also has his own grown children as well.

Allison and David have falling in love, they might be in their 50’s, but they act like a young couple madly in love. Deciding to get married seemed perfect to them, now they just had to introduce all of their children to each other. The house on Nantucket Island was a great place for this to take place, they would have the space and time to get to know each other. It really didn’t go as well as they were hoping would though. Allison’s daughters relationship was always filled with jealousy of one another, maybe the summer together will help. while David’s children have been brought up with money and privilege, one is supportive while the other not so much.

There are quite a few characters in this story, while Allison is our main one, she is a wonderfully strong women and I just adored her. Her daughter Felicity is married, a stay at home mother of two children, but there are issues with the marriage, which comes to light within the story. While Jane the other daughter, is a married and both her and her husband are pretty successful attorneys and even with all the success she feels that ther is something missing from her marriage, something her husband wants no part of. These two sisters are quite different, and yes they might bicker but I after learning more about both them, it was clear they did love each other dearly and wanted each other to be happy.

David’s children were a little different, Poppy is a little uptight, but very protective of her father and I don’t think she was a fan of Allison’s. Allison tried her hardest with Poppy and I have to give her that, I would have probably wanted to give a time or two. Poppy was a handful. Ethan on the other hand, was more laid back, and even a little on the flirty side and I really like him though. David seemed to be a good man, but I would have liked to see him deal more with his grown children, espeically where Allison was concerned. Thayer wrote each of these characters with their own very distinct pesonalities, and it was easy to get pulled into their lives, flaws and all and want to root for them. Mix in some grandchildren and different parenting ideas, and the upcoming wedding, you have a house full of tension and drama.

The story moves at quick engaging pace, but this families journey wasn’t without heart break, but also brought some enlightenment to a few of them. The wedding of Allison and David brought their very different families together, and it warmed my heart to see how everything worked out them all. This would make for a wonderful summer beach read, and I can’t recommend reading this enough, it was truly a beautiful story.

I've read books by Nancy Thayer in the past and always enjoyed them. A Nantucket Wedding by Ms. Thayer hasn't disappointed me. I've enjoyed the beach setting, the combined families storyline and the great characters. A great beach read. Look forward to reading more books by Nancy Thayer.

Allison, a widower in her fifties had found love again and was planning a wedding with David at Nantucket. Both had wonderful first marriages that ended by death and they were so happy that they had both found love again. Things got interesting when they invited their adult children to meet each other. The descriptions are so vivid of the area that you feel like you are there. Lots of drama and more drama. Well written with interesting characters and an entertaining story. I read a reader copy via Net Gallery and voluntarily chose to write a review.

A Nantucket Wedding is a quintessential Nancy Thayer book filled with relatable characters facing empathetic challenges. There are no villains -- just folks who find themselves at crossroads. Refreshingly, the wedding referenced is that of Alison and David, ages 55 and 63, rather than younger characters. Alison attempts to meld together her family and David's, but it is challenging especially since her two grown daughters, Felicity and Jane, have never been close. And they are both facing difficulties in their own lives -- Felicity worries that her workaholic husband may be in a relationship with his closest business associate that is crossing the line from professional to personal. And Jane finds that she cannot fulfill one of the major promises upon which her marriage was founded. Given that her husband, Scott, intends to hold her to it, she finds herself questioning their future together and tempted by Ethan, David's handsome playboy son. Then there's Poppy, David's spoiled daughter who makes no secret of the fact that among her biggest concerns is David's announced change to his will as a result of his upcoming marriage to Alison. As summer wanes and the wedding approaches, Alison just wants to be with the man she has been lucky enough to fall in love with 6 years after being widowed. She never thought she would find love again and wants her family to be happy, as well. A Nantucket Wedding is enjoyable. Throw it in your bag because it's a perfect beach or poolside read.

A Nantucket Wedding by Nancy Thayer is a wonderful love story with with a family brought together for a marriage of two older parents. Alison and David are getting married. A second and late marriage for both of them. David has two children as does Alison. The novel was more about relationships and the stressors that come with life in relationships with the blended family learning to work, enjoy and love together. She is excited to have everyone enjoy the house on Nantucket this summer to become better acquainted before the wedding.

As you might expect not everything goes easily. There is sibling rivalry between the two families which lead to tension. There are four grandchildren to co-mingle as well as the four children. Each one comes with their own challenges, some larger than others.

The Nantucket setting make me see a place in my mind which reeks of suntan lotion, rich people and endless summer. The book does highlight portions of that with the wedding being outrageously expensive, but all that adds to the fun of the story. A Nantucket Wedding by Nancy Thayer was a fun read.

A fantastic story of family, love, and changing relationships. Two sisters and their mother spend one memorable summer planning the Mother's wedding. Meeting on the weekends in Nantucket and getting away from their everyday lives gives them each a chance to reflect. While the sisters had never been close before, the summer brings them together and has them both looking at their own relationships and not completely liking what they find.

I was completely absorbed by this story. It's wonderfully written and the characters are fascinating. The twists in the lives and relationships of the sisters will tear at your heart. Put this on the must read list. I highly recommend it.

If you haven't read Thayer before, prepare yourself for a good beach read of a family working to blend. If you have read her, you know that this is going to be a good read about women struggling to deal with a variety of issues, none of which are too difficult and most of which involve the men in their lives. Alison's getting married to David and her daughters Felicity and Jane are all in. David's daughter Poppy, not so much. If I have something to fault here it's that we don't get to know Poppy from Poppy's perspective, only from the view of those trying hard to like her. I also thought the minor thread about Ethan and Jane was unnecessary. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. All in all, I enjoyed this as much as I've enjoyed her earlier novels. This is good storytelling with a happy ending.

This book is all about family. Allison is marrying David. As adults with grown children, it is a matter of getting them all together. It seems the grandchildren are pros. Yet the adults are having problems. Allison's girls were never close but this time they are spending in Nantucket, is good for them. The sun, good food and the ocean seems to be the great healer. As for David's children, Ethan is a playboy. Poppy is the one giving her dad and Allison grief. She misses her mother and doesn't want anyone to usurp her. Nantucket house is the key to bring everyone together. I couldn't put this book down.

This is my 9th book I've read by Nancy Thayer and as in most of her books, I loved this one too. Sisters Felicity and Jane are excited to attend their moms wedding after she was widowed for 6 years. This book starts off in Nantucket in their mom's fiance's big, beautiful house overlooking the ocean. The author did such a great Job describing the house, scenery, etc. I felt like I was there. Another bestseller by Nancy Thayer who provides insights to the characters, relationships. Humorous, thought provoking, and an interesting fun read.

I love reading Nancy Thayer’s books, especially this time of year when we are sick of the cold, wet, dreary winter. Just in time for spring, she takes us once again to the beautiful island of Nantucket, where Alison and David are planning their end of summer wedding. Since both have been widowed, there are many characters involved with their extended family: children and their spouses, grandkids, even co-workers. We spend the summer with everyone and experience all the joys and horrors involved with the blending two families. This was a well written story that I really enjoyed and didn’t want to put down. It was a pleasure to read and be taken away to the lush surroundings of the island. The family members were so interesting with their back stories, good and bad, which fit so well within the book. Truly a satisfying read about family love!
My thanks to Netgalley and Random House for an advanced copy of this book in return for an honest review.

I received an ARC copy of A Nantucket Wedding. It’s a wonderful book about a family rediscovering each other before a family wedding. I liked the reality of the story of how families are, the trials and tribulations of blending a family and how each generation of family members interact with each other. And having Nantucket at the background of the story just makes it more special.

At first glance one might assume that A Nantucket Wedding by Nancy Thayer is a simple romance novel but this one is more of a contemporary read focusing on relationships, family and various stages of adult life. The book centers around three ladies all in different stages and the relationships not only with each other but all of those surrounding them.

Alison is a fifty something recently widowed mother of two who has found someone to love and hopefully spend the rest of her life with. As Alison is planning her wedding to David she wants to bring her two adult daughters to Nantucket and introduce them to her fiancee and his own adult children and their significant others.

Jane is the career minded adult daughter of Alison who was always by the book and thought she knew what she wanted out of her life. Jane had married and she and her husband had declared they would never have children being lawyers and always working but these days Jane is beginning to change her mind.

Felicity is Jane’s other daughter and the exact opposite of her sister Jane putting the two of them at odds most of their. Felicity was always more free spirited and as an adult has become a stay at home mom to two wonderful children but her marriage isn’t as happy as she once thought it to be.

I will admit first that what drew me to this book was the lovely cover that had that I so want to be wherever they are feel to it at first glance. Seeing that the story took place in Nantucket I was sold hoping for a book with a sunny vibe to scare off those winter blues and thankfully this one did not disappoint at all in that regard. The author did a wonderful job bringing Nantucket to life and I fell in love with the setting almost immediately.

Now of course I’d also hoped for a good story to go with the wonderful setting and it didn’t take long to see that I had found that too. The characters were easy to get to know and like and I certainly enjoyed watching them grow and deal with their problems in the various different relationships involved. This ended up turning into one I really didn’t want to see end and really found it a lovely read overall.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

If it's spring, it must be time to return to the East Coast islands, and Nancy Thayer's fans will be thrilled to kick off the season with this trip to Nantucket. While I enjoyed the setting, as always, I struggled with the depiction of marriages in this book. Allison is getting a new start with her fiance David after the death of her husband years earlier, her high-achieving daughter Jane has realized she wants children but her husband is adamantly against them, and her younger daughter Felicity is struggling to get her husband to notice her as he focuses all his attention on getting his business off the ground (though his young assistant seems to get plenty of his time both at work and outside of it). This is just one of those books where people make choices that are incomprehensible, or settle for being treated in ways that are unacceptable, or otherwise are just unrelatable. As mentioned, the gorgeous setting I expect from this author is present, and I do really appreciate the mother/daughters and the sibling relationship that develops throughout the story, and if that had taken up more of the book I think I would have enjoyed it more. Overall a fine story, but one that for me was just a big alienating.

gh, this book was definitely lacking the charm and joy of previous works by this author. The characters were all misshapen in a way that made me dislike them - either because they were flippant about serious matters or changed convictions and personalities halfway through the book. I didn't enjoy this like I normally enjoy summer books set on Nantucket. It made me sad - perhaps it was too real? I'm not sure but I definitely wouldn't recommend starting with this one if you've never read a Nancy Thayer book before. You can read my review of this author's 2017 summer book, here, and 2015's summer book, here.

A Nantucket Wedding comes out next week on April 3, 2018, and you can purchase HERE.

She was deeply disturbed by what her daughters had shared with her. She'd sat in the kitchen, listening as Felicity talked about Noah's relationship with his person assistant and Jane spoke of her desire for children and Scott's adamant refusal to consider it. The old instinctive need to protect her daughters rose within her, a tide as natural and unavoidable as the surf swelling up the ocean. These men! These ridiculous, blockheaded men, who had vowed to love her daughters and were now making them miserable. But what could Alison do? They were grown men; they couldn't be scolded or cajoled or even bribed into changing. Oh, why in the world did people get married?
