I just love these trips to Nantucket with Nancy Thayer! You certainly want to take a trip there after reading one of her books. This was a great story about a union of two families and finding the compromises to make things work!

I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher through Net Galley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy of Nancy Thayer’s newest book in exchange for an honest review.

The beginning of spring marks the time that we start to get excited for summer reading and that includes a must read author like Nancy Thayer. I really enjoyed this book, but I don’t think it is as strong as last summer’s hit, Secrets of Summer. I found the author’s take on marriage a little strange with the two daughters, but I loved Alison’s very real relationship with David.

As always, the beautiful descriptions of the house, the food, and the island itself make you want to put on some nautical stripes and book a ticket to Nantucket! I would still recommend this book as it wouldn’t be summer without Nancy!

Nancy Thayer continues to delight readers with her books. True to life scenarios that are worked out in real ways.

A great summer beach read, featuring a bride who never expected to find love again after the death of her beloved husband, and her two grown daughters, who are each having marital issues of their own. Charming and funny, with a lovely Nantucket setting.

Another excellent story by Nancy Thayer.
This beautiful story of Alison and David, two widowers, and their combined children and families, with all the twists and turns life takes before they approach their wedding day.

A Nantucket Wedding is pure pleasure to read. Thayer's novels set on Nantucket are magical and makes you want to move to the island and experience the magic. Once I began this novel, I couldn't put it down. The characters are very real and believable as are the situations. I only discovered Thayer a few years ago and was happy to add her to my list of favorite authors.

This was definitely a light read, good for the beach or just relaxing. The scenes of Nantucket and the main character's house were divine! I thought that the characters were rather two-dimensional, although mostly likeable. I have enjoyed Nancy Thayer's other novels a lot more than this one, sorry to say.

I was able to read this book for free from NetGalley, and am grateful to the publisher and the author for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Another Nantucket summer beach read by Thayer, always full of family interrelationships, shines with the story of Alison and David preparing for marriage. Alison is a widow with two grown daughters, Felicia and Jane. David brings his two to the family, playboy Ethan and daughter Poppy. Felicia, Jane and Poppy are facing their own family dilemmas, but two words in the novel describe the book perfectly, a family symphony. I always enjoy Thayer’s Nantucket setting and wonderful stories.

Idyllic wedding setting intersects with chaotic wedding planning! I received an ARC of Nancy Thayers A Nantucket Wedding. Courtesy of Netgalley. Weddings can be very stressful. Weddings that are second or third marriages that involve not just children but grown married children with their own children , single adult children and careers that have no connection to each other except by their older parents who have decided to marry. Although the children will not be raised by the new step parents it still consists of a blending of families, which is usually one step ahead of a catastrophe!
Alison a widow and David, a widower have decided to marry and attempt managing their new positions by everyone summering at David’s incredible Nantucket home! Alison’s 2 daughters are struggling with marriage issues as well as their sister relationship. David’s daughter is in line to take over David’s company and is insecure about her position and the step family usurping David’s money. His son is a happy, go lucky, non committed player, although he has a family but they are separated. Install all this drama in beautiful Nantucket and you have a fantastic fun read with a few life’s lessons thrown in! You will love this time in Nantucket!

I think I’ve read all of Nancy Thayer books. I enjoyed this one as all the rest. She is a great story teller. There were a few characters I didn’t care for but I don’t think I was supposed to like them. Ethan was a typical playboy. I’m glad his story turned out the way it did. The couple getting married and blending the family needed to spend more time making themselves happy and telling the daughter Poppy to pound sand. I didn’t care for her at all. It does have a happy ending and like the rest of her books I want to move to the island.

Nancy Thayer has never let me down. I have been reading her books from the beginning and I have to say she continues to top herself. I was so invested in these characters that I almost forgot I wasn’t one of them. I am partial to books with Nantucket and places around Boston and the description of these places makes you feel like you are there. I think this book touched on all types of relationships, parents, siblings, spouses and step parents. Really fast paced. Thank you for another lovely day Nancy Thayer

I chose this book from the description and I have heard good things about the author. The setting was delightful with a lovely home right on the beach in Nantucket. Honestly I didn't care for any of the men in this story except possibly David although he really didn't seem to play that much of a main role even though the story is about his upcoming wedding to Alison. Scott, Noah, and Ethan are self centered males who act like jerks, although Scott does change some for the better in the end. Ethan is just a total player and for someone who is devoted to his daughter she never even comes into the story until the end and then she is total brat.
I did not like any of the women in this book.. Alison is just happy to be getting married to a man she loves after thinking she would be a widow the rest of her life. She puts up with everyone's crap and rarely stands up for herself. Poppy is a spoiled rich brat acting like a child throughout most of the story and I wonder how her husband put up with her self centered crap although he really doesn't have much of a character or part in the story and her children are spoiled and undisciplined. Felicity is a wishy washy poor me character who sort of gets her &*%$ together at the end, stays in her marriage even though she really isn't happy and her husband Noah is a first class asshole. Jane is all about what Jane wants until her husband Scott falls off a mountain and is missing. Heather who is David's assistant organizing the wedding has to have emotional support dogs which is great but why is this a part of the story when the author does nothing as to explain the reason for introducing them in the first place.
The wedding itself turns out well in an incredibly lovely romantic setting but all I got out of the book was how spoiled and self centered all the children of David and Alison seemed.
For those of you thinking I am bashing the author I am not so please save your comments to me on that. I didn't care for the story or the characters but I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the author.
I only stayed with the book because of my promise to read and review. It is not one I would recommend and not sure if I will try other stories by this author.

This is a perfect "beach read" for everyone who loves a novel that is both lovely to read, but not easily predictable. Thayer looks at marriage and relationships with a much more nuanced eye than the typical author of this genre. I enjoyed every moment of the read. I took it on a cruise and must say this was the ultimate book to read and relax with on my balcony!!

A Nantucket Wedding is the perfect beach read. This book is about family dynamics. It is about spending time together at the beach and reconnecting. Every family faces trials and tribulations, but it is how we choose to resolve them that matter.

Allison is marrying David. That means two families are blending together and getting to know one another. David has an amazing beach house on Nantucket and all of the families are invited here for the summer to meet and become acquainted.

I liked the characters and didn't want to put this one down. As a bonus, I could picture the beach and longed to be there with them!

Nancy Thayer's A Nantucket Wedding was an entertaining read. It was more realistic and not like a fairy tale where everything is perfect. An older widowed couple decides to get married and instead of having a wedding they decide to have a lavish party on Nantucket Island. Of course, there is always some friction when you combine two families and so it is in this story. All of this talk of weddings make them question their own marriage and love. Unexpected events make them realize that some things are more important than others.

Nothing beats a Nancy Thayer book for escapism, and A Nantucket Wedding certainly doesn't disappoint. This novel follows Alison and David in their engagement, as well as the effects of their impending marriage on their adult children. While everyone in the book experiences their own ups and downs, it is all resolved quite nicely, and with a bit of humor. Overall, it is the perfect beach read!

I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.

Allison is not your typical bride, but she's as excited as one, and just as much in love with her soon to-be-husband as anyone would expect. She knows what real and true love is because she was married to a wonderful man for twenty years before he died. She never ever expected to be planning her own wedding again, but here she is five years later doing just that, to David, another incredible guy. David lost his wife after a long and happy marriage as well. He never planned on re-marrying anytime in his future either. But here they are, like two twenty-somethings head over heels in love. The next big step is introducing their adult children to each other; and they each have one strong-willed daughter out of their pairs of children.
The story and wedding plans really get started when all four kids plus their spouses, and their children come out to Nantucket for the big family meet and greet.
Naturally, each adult child is towing their own drama along with the family baggage. Nancy Thayer creates another fabulous Nantucket story for us to enjoy and wish we were there, seriously. How does she do it?! No matter, grab your favorite beverage, put your feet up and sink yourself into this fantastic beachy read!

Thank you Netgalley and Nancy Thayer!

I could not put this book down and I wished it was a little longer. Nancy Thayer, I have signed up for your monthly newsletter because I want to read more from you. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC, this was an easy 5 star rating for me.

Alison and David are preparing their wedding at the end of the summer in Nantucket. Each of them have grown children and grandchildren who lead very busy lives. They invite their families to their home so they can attempt to bond the blended family. This author takes great measure with detailing the lives of the main characters and their families. Alison and David, (who in my head, reminds me of Diane Lane and Richard Gere) are the calm with their family storm. Alison's two daughter's relationship has been strained with jealousy and they learn through the summer that they are strong women and that they can weather any storm that comes their way as they navigate their marriages that are on shaky ground. David's daughter and son, have benefited from a privileged upbringing are learning to adapt to their father's decision to marry again. His son is supporting his decision to marry Alison, but he has his sights on Alison's daughter, which adds a wrinkle in the chaos. His daughter is headstrong and wants to take over her father's company and she is not willing to be number two in her father's life.

The story has a continuous flow and you are taken in with 4-5 different plots whose constant thread is the wedding. The ending is surprising and exceeded my expectation. I believe the author intended to create strong female characters and while there were a few big personalities from the beginning, the story evolved to highlight the discovery of Alison's daughters who realized the happiness they deserved.

Nancy Thayer is an author whose books I have greatly enjoyed and A Nantucket Wedding was no different.

There were many characters in this blended families type novel. There were David's "kids" and their kids and Alison's "kids" and their kids. The way they interacted, grew and changed over the course of the summer leading up to Alison and David's wedding made for a great read.

It was also kind of fun to peek behind the scenes of an elaborate wedding where money seemed to be no object and an entire high-end resort was taken over for the weekend of the wedding.

This is definitely going to be a hit this summer and a book you'll want to take on vacation with you. If you have enjoyed Nancy Thayer in the past or any of the other well-known beach writers, you'll enjoy A Nantucket Wedding.

Thanks go to the publishers, author and Netgalley for allowing me to read an ARC.

I always enjoy a Nancy Thayer book. This story was around Allison and David, who were getting married surrounded by their children by other marriages. There were misunderstandings and conflict as each child wanted things a different way. Felicity was feeling neglected in her marriage and Jane wanted children which her husband did not. David's children were no different. Poppy was pregnant and stubborn and Ethan was still married even though he told Jane he was not. Lots of different story lines to keep you interested.
