When trying to recharge one’s lovelife, fancy, decadent desserts are usually not the first thing to come to mind. However, according to Amy Reiley, who is a leading authority on aphrodisiac foods, and co-author Delahna Flagg, dessert is the perfect place to start. Reiley, who is the brains behind the popular blog Eat Something Sexy, loves dessert – has an overactive sweet tooth – and knows what she’s doing when it comes to developing fabulous sweets containing ingredients that act as aphrodisiacs.

The book features an excellent section on ingredients that act as aphrodisiacs, such as almonds, avocados, pumpkins, cherries, chocolate, macadamia nuts, mangos, honey, ginger, rosewater, vanilla, and strawberries, to name a few. There is a section on breakfast foods, like a Chocolate Breakfast Sandwich and Champagne-Soaked Apricot Muffins. Other decadent recipes include Cherry Bomb Cupcakes, Polenta Shortcake, and a moist and beautiful chocolate cake full of avocado and almonds. According to the book, the statistics from a survey on EatsomethingSexy.com show that 95% of participants have given food as a romantic gift.

Several of the recipes call for trendy ingredients, such as chia seeds, flaxseed meal, and agave nectar. But none of the ingredients are difficult to find, and can be found at most larger grocery stores across the country.

The photographs in the book are beautiful, and many of the recipes are mouthwatering. There are recipes for basics such as Dark Chocolate Ganache (the creamy, very chocolately truffle-like mixture), and a delicious Cherry Coulis. Imagine making Love Slave Balsamic Cherry Chocolate Chunk Brownies or Coffee Toffee Fudge Fix. The recipes are not over-the-top – they are doable; the instructions are easy to understand and follow.

Although this is not a basic cookbook, it is a fun cookbook and would be a good addition to a comprehensive cookbook collection.

It's hard for a cookbook to stand out these days, but this cookbook manages to do just that. It starts with an eye-grabbing title and follows through with some unusual but approachable recipes. I recommend it!

This was a great little introduction to aphrodisiacs, I definitely learned a few cool facts that I didn't know before. However, I think that it would be great if the 'facts,' from studies and the like, discussed in the book were backed up a bit more. I felt like I needed a little more proof when it came to deciding whether or not a certain type of food was truly an aphrodisiac.

Another note of feedback is that I found that the placement of the chapters threw the book off for me. I felt like something was lacking in the first few chapters and I didn't feel as if I was getting all of the information that I wanted. However, I felt like I understood the book more after I read the last 5 chapters. I think that the book would make more sense and would flow a lot better if the last 5 chapters, leading up to the index, were placed before the recipe section. I think just changing the order of the chapters would drastically change my initial reaction to the book. I just really wanted more details and information before feeling as if I was plunged into the recipes right away.

All in all, I did learn a few new facts that I didn't know before and I found a few recipes I'd like to try.... maybe the proof will be in the pudding?

There is nothing frivolous about eating cake - the dress code or rather the lack thereof, is always a matter of choice -but when it comes to preparing it, you may need more than a life to really achieve that perfect balance of ingredients, due time for the preparation and experience in terms of flavors. Eat Cake Naked may have a pitching title but in fact is based on a very serious knowledge of ingredients and an elaborated process of creating recipes that besides tasting good, also helps you relax and open yourself towards love for your significant other. Simply written with clear directions, the book is a great inspiration for anyone looking for a good meaningful and tasty love life.

Great title! Fun concept! Disappointing execution. I doubt that this tired missionary position of a book will spice up anyone’s love life unless it was pretty bland to begin with.

There are a few interesting tidbits of information about ingredients like cinnamon and chocolate, but overall this lacklustre book doesn’t live up to its concept, cover or blurb. The recipes aren’t very imaginative, creative or especially appealing. There’s little amongst them to differentiate the book from any random average dessert book pulled off a shelf. The photos in particular are a missed opportunity. They ought to have a sensual quality, but are very amateurish - more like what you’d expect to see on a hobby cookery blog than in a book. The overall design and execution feels self-published - without panache.

A new cookbook usually makes me happy - especially one with baking and desserts - but this one falls rather flat.

Sehr liebevoll umgesetztes Thema in Sachen kochen und lustvolles Essen: dein Dessert, das Aphrodisiakum!
Nach einer kleinen Einführung in Sachen Nahrungsmittel und Zutaten, bekommt der Leser tolle Rezepte von Desserts, die zudem noch sehr gesund daher kommen (nun ja - jedenfalls für Desserts). Es werden zudem wie nebenbei weitere interessante Informationen rund ums Essen eingestreut.
Erste Experimente in der Küche besagen nur eins... lecker!

Delicious and fun!!!!

Surprisingly enough, this decadent volume of recipes also teaches alot about healthy eating. The recipes are lower in sugar and higher in aphrodisiac qualitites.

Though the title leads you to believe it is just about desserts, there are also breakfast items, yummy snacks, along with pudding and cakes.

I am very tempted to buy a hard copy for my own collection.

Creative and spice! This book contains very good ideas about cooking with aphrodisiac food. The reader will discover the history of some aphrodisiac and natural ingredients and have access to yummy recipes. Just at for Saint-Valentine's day!

Lots of great information on how to make your favorite recipes healther by just changing the ingredients. The benefits of using healther options are clearly explained. I tried using almond milk last night when cooking a family favorite. Nobody noticed the change. When I told them what I'd done they all agreed that It would be good to try some more substitutes. We all sat around the table and decided what we will have tonight and what I'll change, almond milk rather than cows milk as an example. I didn' t show them the cover ( the copy I have is on my ipad) I'll let them discover the other benefits for themselves!
