Great thrilling novel which kept me turning the pages, would highly recommend to others. Brilliant writing, plot and characters.

There is a lot of excitement to be found in this awkwardly titled novel. The plot involving Iranian sleeper agent welcomed into the United States is a stretch, but author Simon Gervais knows how to describe action, and that is the highlight of the novel. One does wonder how Iran would gain by electing a sleeper to low level office in Michigan, or even in killing the mayor of New York. Kill the governor, too, as the plot has it, but gain what? Sure, killing the president could have real consequences. So take a lot of it with a grain of salt, and just enjoy the action.
I had an ARC arranged by NetGalley, for which I am grateful, but my enjoyment was affected by the enormous amount of typos and the complete misplacement of a major character. I am sure that will be corrected for the paying customers.

Very fast action. The premise is plausible but the entrance and eventual exit of Russia from the story is glossed over. The author made every character with an Iranian name into a bad guy which became obvious early on. It is well written but the paragraphs tended to be overly long for a novel. Lots and lots of dead people.

Thanks to NetGalley and the Author and Publisher for the opportunity to read A Thick Crimson Line.

I have yet to read the first book in this series (and I probably should have, as it's alluded to more than I liked in this sequel), but I found it a good 'standalone' read.

This tale of espionage on a global scale is a non-stop roller coaster of action. It starts with the assassination of the Canadian Prime Minister (no, not the current one - this is fiction, after all) by his closest protective detail, and moves on to Iran, where a decades-old plot is being brought to fruition.

Agents in Greece are on the trail of an international terrorist - and they get him, but then end up in the car chase to end all car chases, when they try to obtain an Iranian defector - someone who has the clues needed to unravel PERIWINKLE.

Everyone is involved in this: the Americans, the Israelies, the Iranians... And the assassinations (or attempts) just keep on coming!

Recommended to fans of thrillers and international espionage, with a side order of action and torture.
