What would you do to protect you children? How far would you go? Can you ever really know you child and what they are capable of? As a mother of three sons I was intrigued by the questions this book explored.

This book is a follow up to Bad Sister which I throughly enjoyed so I was excited to continue reading about more of Connie’s life. It can be enjoyed as a stand alone book although I feel I understood the main characters better having read the previous book.

I did find the book difficult to get into at first. The story jumped from one character to another quite quickly and sometimes I struggled to remember who each new character was which took away from my enjoyment initially.

Once I got a hold of the characters I was whizzing through the pages. The book has a twisty plot which definitely had me on the age of my seat, especially towards the end as all the peices came together . I was reading the last few chapters alone and found myself listening for footsteps (glad it was my imagination!!)

Sam is a very talented writer who has experience in the field which clearly shone out. Her characters were complex and well written . I’m glad I preserved (senior memory didn’t help ) as this was a fantastic read which definitely left me thinking long after I’d finished the book .

One Little Lie was really hard to follow as there are many POVs and too many details. Normally I love this type of genre I just found it too hard to follow and I lost interest. I wish I had known this was a series as I would have read the first book before trying to tackle this one.

This book was rather confusing as it is told by multiple people and until you get to know them it truly doesn't make sense. When you finish the book, you realize why it had to be written with so many main characters and it makes sense. It had some really good twists and turns and definitely keeps you hooked until the end. I received an advanced readers copy from NetGalley and Avon Books UK. All opinions are my own.

While the storyline had me hooked I still felt like I fell into the middle of the plot not quite knowing enough to keep up with each the characters. Also, im not a fan knowing so soon into the story “who done it”. I guess I love suspense up until the very end. But still left me wondering “”””what would you do””””.

This is the first book I’ve ready by Sam but I really enjoyed this. It was fast paced and had enough twists to keep me guessing throughout.

I really enjoyed this book. Once into it I had to keep reading, will definitely look out for the next one from this author.

I found the book a little confusing to start out with, you need to read it slow and pay close attention to get it all straight in your head, there are quite a few main characters and moves between the character’s perspectives to another so not the easiest book to keep up with. In saying that, I did enjoy it, the overall story was good and turned out to be a well written thriller.

My name is Alice and my son is a murderer. That's quite a declaration to make to a support group, but that's pretty much how the book starts out. Alice is a mom who isn't quite perfect; she might have let one or two things slip, just like we all do. Unfortunately for Alice, her son was hiding much bigger things than just being a loser who plays video games 24/7. Now he's in jail for killing Deborah's son and Alice is trying to find ways to atone for what's happened.

Sam Carrington weaves a twisty tale of mothers and sons, crime and punishment. The writing is good, the story is interesting, the pacing a smidge slow for my taste. I'm giving this one 3 stars because I just found myself lost from beginning to end with a few too many major characters to follow. I've never read Carrington's work before, but I imagine she's used prison psychologist Connie before since those chapters often alluded to a complicated sounding backstory that really had little relevance to this book.

It's my second read this year where I had the gist of the novel all confused from the get go. The synopsis had me believing this would be more analysis driven, more focused on the son gone bad and the mother who isn't sure how it happened. I thought I would be reading another We Have to Talk about Kevin. Instead this book is a gradual suspense about a partially solved crime; it's good in it's own right, but not really what I was looking for. I liked this book, but it wasn't a standout for me.

Excellent story line which was gripping from start to finish. Great characters. I would highly recommend this book.

This tightly plotted thriller takes readers through a tangled web of lies that will keep the pages turning. Recommended for fans of Shari Lapena and Liane Moriarty

Thank you to Avon Books UK for the e-galley front Netgalley of One Little Lie in exchange for an honest review. I found the short alternating viewpoints of the first part of One Little Lie to be confusing. The chapters of the second part seemed to get longer and focused more on Connie so it connected me more to the plot. Unfortunately, I was not a big fan of Connie or her choices. This book could technically be a stand-alone but I found that the constant referencing to past events made me feel like I was missing a big piece of the story. I did love the concept though and the twists were good and kept me reading. The idea to follow the mother of a murdered boy as well as the mother of the murderer is a great one. I never really considered what life would be for either and most police procedurals obviously focus on the criminals. I just wish the characters had time to develop more in the first half so the ending was more meaningful. Available July 23/18.

Meh. That is all I can say to this book. I thought it was going to be a great one, just based on the story alone, but I was completely lost for most of the book. I think the lost came from being almost bored because there were a ton of little details. Overkilll on the details in fact. You have to really REALLY pay attention to understand who is who and what is happening.
I haven't read any of Sam Carrington's novels so that can be why I wasn't used to the writing style.
I won't say this book is awful, because its not, its just more confusing at times.

A superbly written book that really needs to be read slowly to fully absorb the plot and characters. A deeply disturbing thriller that I can thoroughly recommend.

Thank you Net Galley for the book. This was a slow and painful read which took me weeks to get through. 2 stars because I actually finished the book and sort of wanted to by the end. This book does not flow easily, characters are not explored in depth and are not relatable. It seemed like maybe I missed a book before this one (although I looked, and I couldn't find the previous book) because previous events which had nothing to do with the current book were referred to a lot and were a little confusing.

They say one lie leads to another, well it certainly does in this case!
I must say there were times in this cleverly written tale where I had to really think, and work out who was who, but rather than detract from my enjoyment, it just kept my interest.
Along with the new characters in the story, we are also graced with Connie, lyndsey and Mack, who are tasked with finding a killer and a missing girl. It's not long before Connie is drawn into the investigation, when she is called to go back into the prison to complete a couple of assessments. This soon becomes more complicated when she gains a new client in her private practice who turns out to me the mother of a young man who has been convicted of murder.
Sam Carrington has really shown the depths of her talent with this. It's beautifully written with great characters but it's the way they all interlink that grabs me. Towards the end I found myself sitting on the edge of my bed just to make sure I didn't fall asleep before I finished the book.
