Cute summer read. Easy to read, easy to follow but sometimes the characters just fall flat for me. It just also seemed a little jumpy in some spots when events were happening.

What a surprisingly sweet little book. Becca is a delightful character, and I thoroughly enjoyed sharing in her adventures over the course of a summer with her charming extended family and fellow island residents. I had not expected to enjoy this book so much, but it was fabulously fun and full of heart. I'd recommend it to anyone from 8 to 108.

This book is an easy read and has a nice message. However, it's very episodic, and at times it seems as though the author is trying to assign significance to events that wouldn't naturally connect to the overarching theme. While the characters are interesting, they're also flat. The little character development there is is choppy and told rather than shown.

I realized about half way through that I hadn't read the first book in this series. I liked the characters and I liked that they were doing a Shakespeare play, but there were a lot of characters to keep track of. It was a quick read and I liked the setting and Becca and her Grandma, but at times I found it was hard to keep track of everyone.

When eleven-year-old Becca returns to her grandmother’s rustic cottage for another summer, she finds herself seeing her beloved island in new ways. Things start to go not very smoothly. Plumbing problems at the house, animals which get out of control, a new boat to buy and many other family dramas that make this story delicious. Many teens and adults may remember their own summer vacations and have a smile while reading. One of my concerns is that it took me quite a while to get used to the number of characters the story has, too many to remember, but the action goes fast, many things happen and that was the quick rhythm you get. Sweet, sometimes a little bit gloomy but on the whole, we need to understand, it is the essence of life. Fresh and with not a super complex plot, but enjoyable.
