I offered to read this story for an honest review and enjoyed it. It was a fun read where the characters drew me in immediately

Football and hot sex what more can you ask for! Great sports love story with a little family teenage drama thrown in!

I really enjoyed this book. I think fans of The Wedding Date would like this book, as it struck similar chords as a realistic romance--one exploring the boundaries between work, family, and love.

Carrie can't find a teaching job (there's an unclear reason why she lost her last job that I wish I knew more about) and has a super meet-cute in the grocery store with Seth, a NFL player who is new to the area. I liked how well-developed both Carrie and Seth were. He's a devoted parent to his 13 year old daughter, Maddie. I especially appreciated that Maddie was her own, distinct character, and not just a plot-device used to bring these two together. Yes, she was bratty, but I was sympathetic to her in so many ways, and Seth's relationship with her shows us so much about the kind of man he is. It really worked for me.

I enjoyed the slow build-up, the tension between knowing that what you want isn't always enough, and the way that our obligations make it hard to be together. I thought this was a really solid read.

I went into this book with so much excitement. I mean c'mon. Single Dad, football star, teacher/nanny. It really does have all the makings of a fabulous story but for me personally I didn't really connect.

There are some very great things about the book but not enough to get me invested.

Seth and Carrie's meet cute was so awesome and it should have set the tone for something fantastic but I think it was all too predictable.

There are some really good bones to the story as a whole. Loved the single Dad, football star, the geeky comic loving teacher but there wasn't enough of a background of either thing to push it to something great.

While I didn't fall in love with this one there will probably be many that will.

2.5 stars

On the Line by Liz Lincoln was a good read for a rainy afternoon. There was a lot of sexual tension through a large part of the book. I wish the story had been a little more developed at the end of the book. There was a very good part of the story that was glossed over. I was disappointed that more of the relationship wasn’t revealed. I received this advance copy from Net Galley.

This had the makings of a really good book. I always love a good sports romance. And to be honest, it started off good. But then it seemed to tank somewhere in the middle. ** Spoiler alert**The thing that really bugged me was all that dancing around that they wanted to sleep with each other. It was really getting old/ So when they finally did the deed it was anti-climatic. Carrie also had too much self-pity going on. It was uber-annoying. Maddie was a brat..plain and simple. I understand, preteen moodiness but when she told her father to get rid of Carrie. Then she sabotaged all the other nannies, it was time for a serious butt whooping for her. She was allowed to call the shots for too long in Seth's life. So I was glad to see her get a shut down from her absent mother who did nothing for her. I have a hard time when I read about kid's cussing to their parents in books. That doesn't sit well with me. I voluntarily read this book via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

The opening in the grocery store is so witty and creative. There was so much tension between Seth and Carrie, the text messages started flying and it created a way for them to open the communication lines. Then things get a bit odd when Carrie's brother contacts a guy he knows from the football team who needs a nanny for his daughter. Despite how well the daughter and Carrie end up getting along and how well they connect over comics and start to form a relationship of friendship the ending is way off. I was so pissed when the daughter threw a temper tantrum and Seth let it happen. At age 12 she should have know better and Seth should have never let her have her way over this. Total crap situation and it was hurtful to Carrie all over a her reaction. In my opinion the daughter is a brat and despite everything Carrie did to help her transition to a new school and make friends and invite her to Carrie's family for Thanksgiving she was so ungrateful and it totally ruined the book for me. I don't think Carrie should take him back, she is obviously not a high enough priority to Seth and who wants to ever fall second place to a temper tantrum throwing 12 year old??

I loved the story. I will admit that cover was what caught my eye first because, oh my! But I loved the characters and the development between the Carrie and Seth. There was the conflict of Seth being Carrie's brothers friend, and big brother not realizing it. That did not detract from the story. The chemistry between Seth and Carrie was a slow build and it felt more realistic for that reason. They immediately hit it off, in the grocery store of all places, but they didn't immediately act on it. I think that was one of the things i really liked. There wasn't any of that "OMG I just jumped into bed with this hunk and that is SO not me! What I have done? It was wonderful and I think I will do it again!" There is so much of that in books that it was great to see a slow build up to the main event. That first kiss? That was steamy and wonderfully done! As to Maddie - she is a typical tween - moody, distant and occasionally down right rude. But the emotion Seth shows for her, what he is willing to do for her, warmed my heart. Her attitude at the end might seem a bit contrived, but as the mother of several past tweens, it was pretty realistic. Overall, a fast but very enjoyable read!

Cute story. Not much drama, but a lot of frustration between the characters. It could of used a bit more from Carrie and Seth.

Over all a cute read.

I enjoyed the relationship between Carrie and Seth and thought they had great chemistry. However, I found the plot to be slow at times. I found myself skimming through sections quickly to get through the book. Overall, I found the plot enjoyable but I would not be revisiting this book again. I received an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Is it bad that I didn’t like Maddie? I would have liked to see more of Maddie and Carrie’s relationship. It never quite felt like they bonded. That being said, I did enjoy the relationship between Carrie and Seth. Cute lighthearted read!

I loved this story line with the comics and cosplay ideas.

From the synopsis of On the Line it sounded like it had it all and it kind of did. Sports, single day, friends to lovers, brothers best friend--- but maybe that was the problem there was TOO much shoved into one book

Unfortunately we didn't feel a connection to the characters and the chemistry just wasn't there. This book didn't work for us.

He performed a random act of kindness that he never thought would be repaid. Carrie cannot let her first meeting with Seth go without repaying the kindness he shared. They strike up an easy friendship that they both secretly desire. Circumstances change and Carrie takes a job as a nanny for a single father. She never realized that her new job offer was someone she had already met. They balance one another out and fit so seamlessly into one another’s life. Will it lead to something more when Carrie needs change so badly? Great story. Absolutely loved it.

I'm going to keep this short and sweet, and also straight to the point. To me, I found the synopsis of this story appealing in a way that made me interested in what the story has to offer. Now, I am not a big fan of stories that are deceived by the synopsis. Meaning, that once you read the blurb and you get attached to it and you cannot wait to start the story, you get tricked by the story and the lack of spirit there is throughout the story.
I gave it a try, don't get me wrong. Being a big fan of single father romances, hot football players, and nanny's to the rescue to save the day, I gave this puppy a try for sure. Putting that aside, I truly did enjoy the story and what it had to offer. The fact that both mains are in situation that cannot be remedied is one that brings an interest as to where the story will lead towards to. With this story though, there was a lot "instant" actions. Meaning that even though "insta" love is something that I adore to read, this one felt a bit forced by both characters. I don't want to say too many negative things about it because to balance that off there are positives to the story.
I am glad there is not too much drama, and there is a lack of conflict in regards to their everyday lives. The balance they keep both personally, and professionally is one I liked to read for sure. It wasn't like they were pawing at each other or something... [internally they were]
Overall, the fact that this story is written in a third perspective is also another triggering point that made me dislike it a little. Like I said, I gave the story a try and maybe this story is an ideal romance for some. However for me, it was a no indeed. Thank you to the publisher for giving me a chance at reading an advance copy of puppy, but I don't know if I'll be looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

I just don't get man buns.

Why is she unemployed? We need teachers.

She can't afford take-out, but she was going to buy all that food? She does know how credit cards work, right?

This should not be a sexy conversation.

Poor kiddo.

She doesn't inspire confidence.

Oh, what fresh hell is this.

I had no idea football players spend time in a hotel even if they're home.

It sounds like Maddie was the queen of middle school in Houston.

Wait, she would rather have anonymous sex than do her job?

Yeesh, your life sucks if playing football qualifies as me-time.

Dude, your kid has you by the balls. You say you want a girlfriend, then break up with her because your kid told you to. I mean, it was your choice to screw the nanny.

**4.5 STARS!

Somewhere between the groceries and the tampon aisle, I too fell in love. With Carrie and Seth, that is.

This was a sweet romance that had me smiling way too hard and also didn't allow me to put it down for fear that I would miss out on anything!
Though it was such a fast-paced read, I felt it went great with the speed of Carrie and Seth's romance. I mean, who wouldn't immediately fall head over heels for a hot, well-built athlete?

I also wanted a bit more of comic book talk, given that Seth's daughter and Carrie had that in common, but I also really just loved the moments between our two main characters. It was steamy and sweet all at once and I could help but root for them all the way to the end-zone! (See what I did there? *slowly backs away*)

I recommend this to all my nerdy comic book lovers who has a soft spot for football, a few flirty texts, and a whole lot of swoon!

Everything about this was uncomfortable, weird, and awkward. The bones of a good romance story were all there: athlete, single dad, brother's BFF. But every conversation and interaction between Carrie and Seth just had me scrunching my nose and asking why. I didn't feel tension; I didn't get chemistry. I got awkward texts that were (supposedly) sexy. I got brother's BFF trope where she had never even met the guy before they began a "relationship" and the brother was absent most of the story.

I enjoyed Maddie (the daughter), but again, everything felt so off. Like the fact that Carrie and her basically have everything in common. Diet Dr. Pepper! Comics! Cosplay! And that was all just talk. We rarely get to see them interact together as pre-teen and nanny so I didn't feel like they were that close or Maddie should be that distraught over learning about Carrie and Seth.

Sadly, this was a huge miss in my book.
