That cover, that cover ladies is the lure right into the spider web that is Barrett Fox. Once there, you won't want to leave. I read this book twice, yes I did.
You know you read a book and wonder what was going on in the authors mind when they wrote it and what they were thinking .....yeah you know. You've done it. Holy hell what a story this is and I loved Cat and Barrett. Barrett took a little getting used to, kind of like trying to scratch the itch you just can't reach. Cat was extraordinary. I loved her. Her wit, brains, sarcasm and low tolerance for Fox's bull. Barrett just gets off on rubbing Cat the wrong way and nicknames her KittyCat. One more thing she added to the pile of nonsense that grated on her nerves about Barrett. The list just grew.
Cat writes a lifestyle type column for a newspaper and her boss decides to kick things up a notch with summer coming and Cat's relationship articles are going to take a new twist when she's going to "fake" date the ex NFL player and now unemployed football commentator Barrett Fox. This serves two purposes, makes the paper money her boss Mia says and Fox needs the good press after his blowout at a bad call on live TV. Cat is instantly against the idea and when she meets Barrett, she's doubly sure she wants no part of this jackal wearing dress pants and nice shoes. Barrett can't help himself every single chance he gets he's busting her chops and totally loaded with innuendo. Oh this man. He made me crazy in the best way. So these two go on dates, each writes a commentary about the date, separately. Neither of them knows what the other wrote until they read it. Barrett really struggles getting his thoughts down and Cat offers to help and he declines, meanwhile he's wooing her with coffee and being nice. Seriously... he is. The relationship evolves and these two throw off more sparks than the 4th of July. Barrett was a panty dropper without a doubt and had Cat purring.
The back and forth was great. The dialogue was over the top. The way they played of each other was the best. I wanted to wake and shake too!
Then like all great stories when one (Fox) of them steps in it and suffers from verbal diarrhea, along with a couple other unmentionable ailments; wow did I ever get whiplash. Cat already dealing with enough and there's Barrett. She did what I would have done. Barrett deserved to simmer in his own juices a little longer than he did. I had a couple WTH moments when I read what he said twice. I told you I read the book twice. Is all well that ends well?
This book is an absolute must read and my favorite book of the series!! Starting with that cover.
Just dive into this one like I did, because it's that good. It deserves far more than 5 stars. It's a keeper.
Insanely great read Jessica!

Rumor Has It was so much fun! I loved the banter between Barrett and Catarina. They made such a cute couple and definitely were a perfect match. Barrett had a lot more going for him then it appeared at first, he seemed like a toddler like ex-NFL player. Thankfully he had a lot more layers to him and I loved watching as Catarina discovered them. I also loved how he made Catarina come out of her shell a bit and not be so "perfect".

Still loving this series! While I might not have loved it as much as I loved the first 3, it was still great. Fun couple, and I've enjoyed this series that I hope there would be more!

In some ways this reminded me of Lauren Layne’s books, particularly “After the Kiss” and “Love the One You’re With” in which sexy writers are charged with writing about their own relationships. In “Love the ONe You’re With,” we get a male and female writer assigned to write about their dates from their perspectives for their respective magazines. I really enjoyed this book and this one has a similar feel. Except, instead of Manhattan, the setting is Columbus, Ohio.
Catarina, the heroine write online relationships pieces for the Columbus paper. She’s assigned to go out on dates with the reputed “Bad Boy of the NFL,” former pro starr Barrett Fox who has had to retire from playing due to an injury. His next career doing sportscasting for his alma mater, The Ohio State University, was blown when he went on a sexist on-air rant about a female referee. Not good. But he wants to regain his reputation so he can get hired again.
Apparently, the best way to do it is to be hired to do a free-lance writing gig about dating Catarina, the uptight columnist. The idea is to have them each write up their dates from their perspectives - the proper, upper-class Catarina and the bad-boy, former lower-class charmer, Barrett. Yeah, that’s the way to get an announcing gig after you’ve just accused a female ref for PMSing her way to a bad call against OSU. And like any editor would hire a guy without seeing at least a sample of his writing.
If you can get past all that disbelief, their relationship was fun. He’s charming and she’s...uptight, biased, and snarky. He was so much more likeable than she was, but their conversation was moderately witty. Of course, her uptightness hides her sexual attraction to Barrett and they move on to a relationship, sorta, from there. Lauren Layne’s books are wittier and more worth suspending disbelief, but this was still a fun read.
I was given a free ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is book filled with sexy and hilarious banter between a sexy former NFL bad-boy, and a straitlaced journalist, that is also filled with sweet and tender moments that has Jessica Lemmon fans and future fans turning the page to see what these two combatants are writing about each other in a “blog” they are covering when she agrees to date a “bad-boy” and Barrett Fox is the bad boy chosen to be her date.
Catarina Everheart is not impressed with the way Barrett lives his life and he goes out of his way to aggravate her and push her to hating him. The more he pushes, she sees woman fawning and practically throwing themselves at him, the harder is for her to resistant his blatant charm. Especially, when she sees the softer good side of this Bad Boy.
Barrett Fox is a skilled off the field as he is on the field, but one shocking and inflammatory act as broadcaster with an open mic and he has to work his way back into the good graces of” powers” that be, to get his job back. So he agrees to this “blog” on dating co-written by Catarina and finds that “fake” dating is not all he wants to do with her. He wants it all….
I really liked this book. It had everything you want in a good sassy love story, two people who start out trying to not fall for one another when forces and their own feelings are pulling them together. Delightful, funny, sexy and sweet is Jessica Lemmon’s trade mark and she does not let us down with Rumor Has it.

This book, peeps!! You need it! I LOVE Barrett and Cat! Love, Love, Love!!! When I first started the story my thoughts were instantly "this is just like that movie!" and had a brief moment where I hesitated. I mean, I love the movie but do I want to reread the entire thing? Yeah, SO glad it was a brief pause because this book rocks!
Barrett Fox is just, so... Barrett. (Also, best name!) He's cocky, he's arrogant, he's a huge jerk, but holy hotness he is one fine bad boy! I Love how real he was. Yeah, he pulled some dick moves, what guy hasn't? But he says exactly what any cocky jerk would and that makes him real. And Cat. Ooooh, sweet little Kitty Cat with her perfect, polished life and job gets saddled with the bad boy. The animosity and attitude was fantastic! I loved their banter. Even when she finally started to figure him out the banter and cockiness was still there. It made me so happy when she started to step out and live a little more. Let's not forget the scorching hot sex! Ummm, is it hot in here?! (Coat closet scene-my FAVE!!)
Read it! Even if you hit the part that feels like the movie (you'll know which one) and you want to stop, DO NOT! **Because the books are always better than movies. ;)

I’m team FoxyCat! Rumor Has It was a nice, sweet read. I’d rank it 3.5 to 4 stars. This is my first read by this author and I enjoyed her writing style. I would certainly read more from her.

A fun rom-com that reminds me of How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days. Fun and light. A journalist and ex-NFL have chemistry.

Another fabulous book in the Real Love series. I loved Barrett and Catarina as a couple. Catarina was not happy to find out she was going to have to work with Barrett, who was the bad boy of the NFL. Catarina took her job as a journalist seriously and just knew that Barrett was going to be a joke. Barrett pushed every button Catarina had and loved every minute of it. He had to hold up his end of being a bad boy even when he really wasn’t. The job was for them to go on fake dates and then each write how it went from their own perspective. After a few dates they started to feel comfortable with each other and be more themselves when they were together. Of course the sexual tension started building on both sides. Barrett was always making sexual comments to Catarina and she kept blowing them off until they both gave in. These two were so great together. Barrett was actually a great boyfriend to Catarina and she knew that his whole bad boy act was just that- an act. I loved this book and how great both Barrett and Catarina were, alone or as a couple. I would definitely recommend this book to people, you won’t be disappointed!

OMG! I LOVE BARRETT AND CATARINA'S STORY! I couldn't put it down. Great read! I look forward to more from this author!

Rumor Has It is the fourth book in Jessica Lemmon's "Real Love" series and it is a great addition. This friends to lovers tale combines humor, heart and chemistry.
Barrett Fox is a former NFL star who has made his share of mistakes in his post football career in broadcasting. In an attempt to try to get back into the good graces of those who fired him, he is using a publicity stunt that could end up paying huge dividends or it could derail everything he's trying to do. He's cocky, he's brash and he's often a jerk, but is there more to this former star?
Catarina Everhart is an accomplished columnist at the Columbus paper and she has been tapped to play a major role in trying to get Barrett back into the good graces of the broadcast team. Her boss has cooked up the plan that the two need to date and subsequently write about their "relationship". For Catarina, there are two major problems; she has a boyfriend and she can't stand the idea of having to date Barrett. Will she end up finishing this assignment unscathed?
This book was packed with things that made you smile - cute nicknames, plenty of barbs and sparring and the chemistry was off the charts. It was a joy to watch as Barrett and Catarina navigated their relationship and in the end the payoff was worth it.
I would highly recommend this newest offering by Jessica Lemmon. It's another fantastic addition to her already strong stable of books!

Rumor has it is a funny, romantic story.
The chemistry between Barrett and Catarina is off the charts even though they live in a state of denial about their love for each other.
Barrett and X NFL football player, play boy and all-around bad boy is trying is now truly in trouble as he fake dates Cat,A newspaper columnist, Who is been tasked with writing an article about their romance. Chemistry and tempers fly while these two are caught off guard when they're fake dating turns to More .
ARC REVIEW

I'd read the author's Billionaire Bad Boy Series and really enjoyed it and was very excited to get an ARC provided by Net Galley, but was unfortunately disappointed. I really enjoyed the hero. Even with being a former football player, I found him playful, fun, but real. The heroine was just unlikable. Truthfully at about 60% I started to scan to get to the end. The heroine finds out something about the hero and how it played out was very unrealistic. I get that this is fiction, but I just couldn't get into it Because of how much I liked the author's prior books, I would buy another book by this author, but this one just didn't hit me.

A sweet and spicy romance that hits the spot. I didn't enjoy this one as much as the author's 'Arm Candy' title--I had a hard time liking Barrett as a swoon-worthy male lead...he was a bit juvenile. Overall though I did enjoy the book and would recommend it!

Perfection does not exist. It's a human trait to gloss over the flaws, never seeing what's really there. Jessica Lemmon never does that. She keeps it real. With oodles of humor and exceptional characters, she makes the hard moments bearable for the characters she creates and the readers she enchants. Catrina and Barrett are colleagues with a love - hate relationship. He loves to push her buttons. She hates the way he makes her feel. He hates her uptight attitude. She loves to put him in his place. Rumor Has It takes us beyond the verbal banter and sexual intensity. The first person narrative allows us into the soul of the characters. What begins as a battle of wills becomes an empathetic look at what it means to be human. Something we all can relate to.

So much to love about this book. Barrett is a hoot, Catarina is fabulous. The dialogue is snappy * you are dating a guy named after a direction!) Their chemistry, attraction, connection is super hot. The story moves along at a great pace.

Good story and characters and really a page turner, it kept me entertained!

This is not a book I should have liked. In fact I was positive I would end up hating it after reading the first few pages. Barrett is everything I hate in a hero- a narcissistic, man child who thinks sexual harassment is the highest form of flattery. But I kept reading even though Catarina is the typical rigid stick in the mud heroine that I can never really relate to. Then suddenly I was so caught up in this enemies to lovers that I was sad to see it end, even the ending was kind of ridiculous. I really really charmed by this story overall mostly because of the way the relationship between the two characters was allowed to develop. We were shown rather than told of their feeling for each other.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review and I am so glad that I did because I might not have finished it otherwise.

Rumor Has It is a fun book to read. After his previous career is thrown off track, Barrett and Catarina are thrown together to write a column on dating. Two people from different backgrounds put into a dating situation that could be disastrous, but the chemistry is off the charts. This book kept my attention all the way through and made the time fly by. Good way to spend my day!!

I received this ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Rumor Has it was freaking hilarious! I loved this book so freaking much. Barrett and Catarina are basically made for each other. Their love/hate relationship was the best thing known to man because it's so freaking relatable! Oh god, I want a relationship like theirs!
Okay, so Catarina is a journalist for a newspaper and she is paired up with Barrett for like a dating segment or whatever it's called. While Barrett was known to be a player on and off the field, since he was an ex NFL footballer, well.. he's also known for demeaning women left and right. So, yeah.. homeboy needs a new image stat! Together they will either have the time of their lives or go home empty handed and in a terrible mood after their "fake date".
Now Catarina isn't necessarily single when she goes on this "date" but then again I didn't even care - yeah, not sorry North! God, I shipped the hell out of C&B. Their chemistry was AHHMAZING! Plus, individually their personalities were so on point which made me love them even more. Barrett was hilarious and sweet - not to mention hot. Catarina was smart, sexy, and super serious. I loved them so much that I wish they were real!!
Overall, loved this book. Love the story. LOVED THE HAPPY ENDING! I can't wait to dive into more books written by Jessica!!
