Loved this book! Eight Simple Rules for Dating a Dragon had me look up the other books in the series which I have also enjoyed. Even though the reader knows going into the story there are going to be dragons, the story does a good job of making the reader figure out who the dragons are and how they fit into the overall world.

Ms Sparks is doing great things with this series. Here Gwenore and Silas have to fight prejudices and a curse to make it to their happily ever after.

Gwen was raised away from her people, with her chosen sisters, all of whom are Embraced. Silas is a dragon shifter, in a country full of dragon shifters, but they are all dying off from a mysterious curse or disease that their healers can’t heal.

These two star crossed lovers work together to find the cause of the deaths to save Silas’ country. Their adventures keep them on their toes while they get to know each other better.

I recommend this and all the Embraced series to anyone that is a fan of fantasy romance with some intrigue. They are best read in order because of the ongoing intrigue that cross over through all the books.

Let's start off by saying I really loved this story, it was fun flirty and a lot of fun and I found myself laughing and giggling throughout the entire story.

Right from the get go, the book drew you right in and this story had you engage almost immediately. Loved the characters, they were all so easy to fall in love with and were also engaging and fun and made us laugh.

Silas was something else, loved how he engaged with Gwen. Silas was fun, brave, loyal, had a wicked sense of humor, charming, protective and definitely had the swoon factor going for him. Oh, puff, you made our heart melt...

Gwen you were an all around sweetheart who was kind, loving and had a large heart, loved how presumptive and smart you were, and your shyness was adorable.

Overall the story for us goes into the keeper pile as we loved the friendships, the intrigue, the mystery and suspense, the characters were awesome, the slow burn romance that was playful, sensual, the chemistry between these couple and the love that it had for one another. Loved how puff add the 8 reasons of dating a dragon, this was his way of courtship and winning the heart of the woman who was destined to be his mate his antics made us laugh time and time again.

Loving this series and a recommended read to all, Ms. Sparks just reminded me why we love her books so much.

With the typical flair for a story and humor this author is known for, Eight Simple Rules for Dating a Dragon brings together a cast and a romantic pairing that makes the reading well worth the couple/few hours. It's got a quirkiness that I appreciate and a passion that made me want to get a fan as well as some very genuine feelings to get them through the turmoil of the plot surrounding them. Definitely a great addition to the authors' catalogue.

It took me a while to post this review. I absolutely love this Authors Love at Stakes series and looked forward to be a part of the ARC review so she can get some of the recognition I felt she deserved. Unfortunately, I was very disappointing with this book. I found the book to be extremely wordy with the storyline very confusing. So much so that I didn’t finish the book.

The only reason why I gave it to stars was because I loved the concept and could see the direction and vision Ms. Sparks intended.

This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and engrossing throughout the whole book. I was invested in the couple throughout the book and felt all the emotions through both the highs and lows of the story. The side characters were such an integral part of this story as well. This is the love story i needed to read at this time. If you want an entertaining and well written book this is it for you

Very interesting read. Wish I had the earlier books, will be seeing if they're kindle unlimited. Interesting characters, definite unique backstory. Never a disappointment

In this charming entry of a series, I found a story well-plotted and interesting enough to be a standalone. I have not read many books where humans are dragons, but reading this novel has had me on the search for more stories like this since I've read it!

I've really liked the world Kerrelyn Sparks has created in this series. Gwennore and Silas are both great characters who have to learn how to trust each other as they start to fall in love.

This was a fun book to read! I liked Silas and Gwennore, and thought their chemistry was really good. However, I felt like the pacing of the story was too long. There seemed to be unnecessary repetitions of dialogues that would be discussed amongst various characters. But overall, this was a fun story and I am interested in picking up the first two books in the series because I heard they are better than this one.

Gwennore is an outcast elf living on a remote Isle of Moon with other women who were also outcast for being born on the eclipse of the planet Aerthlan's twin moons. These "embraced" women seem to hold the key to peace and prosperity of the four kingdoms of Aerthlan. They have made a bit of a society, and two of her "sisters" have recently found love.

While celebrating one of the two feast days of Moon, a child of one of Gwennore's adoptive sisters is kidnapped by a marauding dragon, and she demands that the dragon who was chasing the first bring her in pursuit to save her "niece". Gwennore's journey is frightful, but she lands safely in Norveshka and immediately learns of the strife at court. It seems the queen of Norveshka is gravely ill, and thinks her dead daughter is still alive--she's had the dragons off stealing replacement "princesses" which is what the dragon had been doing. General Silas Dravenko has been trying to prevent such occurrences, knowing it threatens the peace between nations, and he's eager to return the little girl to her parents--who happen to be the monarchs of a neighboring nation. He's not so eager to return Gwennore, however. Not only does he find her very attractive--a novelty for Gwennore as she's been an outcast her whole life--but Gwennore's ability to find the source and cure of a disease is especially appealing. Perhaps she can find a cure for the disease the Queen suffers.

It doesn't take long to find out the Queen is being poisoned, but how, and by whom? Posing as a lover to the general, Gwennore is in a good position to stay close to the queen, and help her recover. In the meantime, Silas and Gwennore are steadily falling for one another. This is dangerous, because the elves are staunch enemies of the dragons of Norveshka. Having been raised on Moon, however, Gwennore doesn't have any prejudice against the dragon land, or its people. And Silas knows this. He also expects she won't stick around once she learns the heart of the long-held secrets in Norveshka. As a member of one of the three "cursed clans" Silas has shifter abilities he's not eager to share with the class--or an elf who might become a sympathizer to Norveshka's enemies.

It's a bit of a slow burn romance, and there's not much sensuality on the page. I liked the themes of overcoming prejudice, and fighting for what's right, even when it's uncomfortable and unappreciated. Having started in the middle of the series, I didn't feel like I missed much, as this romance for Gwennore was really contained and explored in only this story--all the other "sister" characters had side parts. We get a decent amount about Sorcha, as she is an "Embraced" from Norveshka--Silas' born sister in fact. I wondered if she would star in the next book, but I haven't checked on that just yet.

For me, it was a fun read. I think I had two major issues: the anachronistic dialogue and baby talk. The world here seems lush and lively, a bit old-fashioned and steeped in lore and mystery. But, the common use of English slang would snap me out of the fantasy. And, the girl who'd been dragon-napped spoke with that ear-grating, nerve-stretching lispy-talk that I can't tolerate. Having had four kids with varying phoneme emergence, I just get stabby about making kids sound like eenie-weenie-babies, and that's how her dialogue sounded as I read it. I was glad she didn't stay on the page long. I'd definitely read on in the series.

Eight Simple Rules for Dating a Dragon is Kerrelyn Sparks' third book in her Embraced series. Before I start into the review, I'd like to share news on the series as a whole. According to Kerrelyn Sparks' website, this series was discontinued by the publisher after this book. Sparks knew that there were readers out there like me, however, who want to see this series finished, so she searched for another publisher. She found one, and the next book, How To Love Your Elf, will be out in February 2020! The final two books will technically be a part of a new series, but it is the same storyline we are already a part of.

In Aerthlan there are five kingdoms and two moons. I mention the moons specifically because two times a year the moons eclipse and any children born then have magical abilities. They are called Embraced and they were feared for many years by the monarchies because of their powers. One of the five kingdoms is called the Isles of the Moon and Mist, and some of these Embraced children are sent there for their safety. Gwennore is one of five girls who was raised at the Convent of the Isle of the Moon because she is Embraced. She is visably an Elf, but knows nothing else of her past.

Two of her older "sisters" have left, gotten married, started families and become queens. It is during a visit with her sister, Luciana, that Evianna (Luciana's 3 year old daughter) is snatched up by a dragon when Gwennore is watching her. Gwennore grabs onto the dragon's leg in an attempt to get Evianna back or at least stay with her niece to protect her as best she can. They are taken to the kingdom of Norveshka, where the queen is sick of the body and mind and demands children, causing many kidnappings like Evianna's. Gwennore is intriqued by the queen's illness and using her gift wishes to help her. Gwennore can determine ailments, illnesses, and injuries to a person by touch. Silas, the top general in Norveshka, coerces her to stay and help him fix a curse that plagues the queen and kingdom.

As with the previous books, I am not a fan of the dialogue. It's too modern in comparison to the atmosphere of the fantasy. Honestly, even in modern set books I would struggle with phrases like "why don't you just jump his bones?" used multiple times. Some minor characters like Olenka, one of the queen's ladies, spoke too informally and acted oddly for her position. Silas would also speak in an out of place manner that would just interrupt the flow of the story telling. The Prologue which contains the introduction to this fantasy world was a little more condensed in this book, which was better but still too "Once upon a time" for me. The last thing that drove me nuts with this story was the way Silas treated Gwennore. It bothered me how Silas would just ignore Gwennore's requests and make her uncomfortable. He was too hotheaded.

Despite all the things I dislike about this book, the story is verry compelling. There are so many myteries to solve, I felt like I couldn't put the book down. I love the magic system in this world, and I also like the character developments and discoveries. I guess it comes down to really liking the fantasy portions of the plot, and being ok with the romance portion. As usual I skimmed over the intimate scenes because they make me a little uncomfortable, but from what I did glance at it seemed a little cheesy.

I am excited that Kerrelyn Sparks found a way to finish this series for her readers. I am anticipating How to Love Your Elf which comes out in February. With the new publisher, I wonder how the feel of the books might be changing.

Romance and dragons are amazing together!

I couldn’t wait to read the latest in one of my all-time favourite fantasy romance series! This author has created this amazing world filled with compelling characters, complicated royalty and all the evil and good that it can contain…

Is it set in medieval times? Is it Elizabethan? Is it set in some twisted futuristic time? Wherever – whenever! – it is, I need to go there immediately. The sisters of The Isle of Moon band together once again as one of their own is set to fulfill a destiny she never knew she had. And that destiny? Well it was full of danger and action that no prediction could have held! Gwennore was an elf in a world that didn’t know what to make of her. Her sisters loved her but the world in general was not so kind. As she found herself thrown into the role of brave saviour, she came into her own…

Silas was intrigued and attracted to the elf that seemed to know see right into him. Bound by more than just the physical bonds of the world they lived in, their journey was going to test their loyalty, their beliefs and everything in between…

It was saucy, heart-felt and deliciously good from start to finish. The only thing I’m sad about is the next book is so far away… I’ll be waiting though, rereading the first three in the series like I can’t get enough. Oh wait – that’s true!

Simply, WOW! It's been a while since I've read Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre, and boy am I glad that I did! I was hooked in the book from the first chapter. The plot was great, the pace was spot on, and the characters can be invested in very easily. Gwen's dedication to her family is without fault, and when she sacrifices her personal safety to try and save her niece, she has no idea what she's getting into. There's drama, there's twists, there's humor, there's a love story, and there's a happy ending. I could not have picked up a better book to capture my attention, and made me not want to put it down. I love this book and will definitely read the rest in the series, because I want to know the story of the rest of them!

I totally enjoyed reading this book, the characters were strongly written, and the plot was interesting. The best part of this story is the nickname that Gwennore gave to the dragon…Puff. This name brought the lyrics to and an old television show that I watched when I was a child to mind Puff the Magic Dragon.
This story was cuteness and light, with some depressing parts, but these were noticeable from the start. Eight Simple Rules for Dating a Dragon, a well-written book that any PNR fan would be truly interested in. I can’t wait for the next installment.

This review is not going to be long. I am not a huge fan of a review rehashing the entire plot and spoiling it for everyone.

This is a fantasy romance that take place on another world filled with swords, hot guys, magic, and fiery smart heroines. The author does a wonderful job of my making her characters come to life. I didn't want the story to end. I can't wait for the next book.

I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.

About the same amount of enjoyment as the last one, and honestly I read all three in about 3 days total. I wasn't able to go home for Christmas this year, so I was looking for distraction and a bit of humor. This series was just the ticket. Exactly what I needed.

I like all of the girls, so I'm excited to see what comes from the remaining stories. Usually there's always one that I'm not really interested in, but I can't say that's the case here.

I have been a fan of this author for a long time because she is good writing on this theme. I couldn’t get into this book at first, but it grew on me. Silas is adorable as a man and as a dragon. Gwen is a strong heroine. Strong enough for a man like Silas. The story just dragged on too long for me, and the bad guy is still out there, which means more books will follow.. Maybe Socha’s book? It’s a good read though.
