This is part memoir, part detailed explanation of the many ways polyamory can exist. Johnson writes candidly about current and previous relationships while inserting illustrations that truly add to the narrative. She’s very funny, talented, and thoughtful. I loved how the folks she didn’t want to name were referred to as some version of Rory (a nod to Gilmore Girls). Though polyamory is not for me, I respect that it can work, and I appreciate Johnson putting herself out there.

Thank you, NetGalley!

This was an interesting and entertaining story. I liked reading about the author's life and appreciated her honesty on a subject that people tend to look down upon.

I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a review copy in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion of it.

This is a lovely, thoughtful memoir. She addresses a subject many people judge before knowing much about it, with grace and humor, honesty and vulnerability. It's sweet and funny, plus I learned a great deal. It made me think about my relationships past and present, both romantic and platonic, through a different lens.

This book was all over the place. Felt disconnected, and not complete, like she just started writing and had no direction.
Thanks to author, publisher and NetGalley for the chance to read this book. While I got the book for free,it had no bearing on the rating i gave it.

Sophie Lucido Johnson, is the author of “Many Loves” (2018) that explores the controversial and little known subject matter of alternative relationships—polyamory. Many unfamiliar with this unconventional relationship lifestyle; might think first of swingers or illicit sneaky affairs. Those who practice polyamory are likely to be some of the most non-judgmental open-minded individuals one can meet, with a truth and honestly not always found conventional heterosexual relationships.

Sophie’s parents met and married young, and have been happily married for over 50 years. As a young impressionable girl it hadn't yet occurred to Sophie that there could be other relationship lifestyles outside the role model of her parent’s marriage. While in college, Sophie was attracted to women and enjoyed a platonic relationship with Hanna, and became intrigued with the possibility of finding emotional and sexual fulfillment in multiple relationships. Her debut illustrated memoir tells her story with original artwork— that include sketches, cartoon drawings and quotes. I found it interesting when I checked Sophie’s blog that she advised her followers with “How To” instructional advice: (for example) How To Buy a House, How To Write More Often, How To Give The Perfect Present… I loved the sketches and drawings of this talented writer and artist. ~ Many Loves will be released by Touchstone Books on June 26, 2018.

I appreciated the artists commitment to sharing their story about exploring and adopting a polygamist lifestyle. The part that honestly felt a little much was the authors personal additional details that felt unnecessary and also slightly pretentious. The fact that she liked a "lesser known Indie artist" like M. Ward didn't add to the story and I could've learned about the bond between the author and her first girl crush without the extra name drop - which is likely meaningless to a lot of readers who won't know who that musician is.
