Basically coming from a one-sided perspective of what jobs used to be, and what they are today. The assumption that all the jobs in the past were long term, stable, etc. is an underlying premise which I did not find sustained by any proof provided, nor by my person experience. This is a basic how to get a job and keep it while looking for other prospects, focussed mostly on making money.

As a former Personal and Professional Development Coach, people often come to me when they need career advice, so I like to keep abreast and read industry books now and again. The Perpetual Paycheck: 5 More Secrets to Getting a Job, Keeping a Job, and Earning Income for Life in the Loyalty-Free Workplace is one of those rare books I would recommend to anybody and everybody who is seeking a job or a career switch. It is THE number one book I would recommend, hands down. This book touches upon important topics other books miss, such as how to avoid the long-term position stigma, how to really position your weaknesses to a prospective employer and the concept of your T.O.Y.S. Author Lori B. Rassas expertly organizes the best secrets and strategies to propel your career forward in one well-written and comprehensive book.

The Perpetual Paycheck Volume 2 has plenty of practical tips for the modern job seekers and workforce.
It is full of practical advice and viewpoints on some of the next move that one should have or should be planning for.
Some of Lori's advice are cutting edge and no longer bounded by the old age thinking of being loyalty to the company.
If you are having doubts about pledging your loyalty to a company in today's age, this book is worth a read.
