Poor writing, pacing, plotting; poor everything. I made it 2/3 of the way through and could not force myself to finish the story. Absolute waste of time. I got this for free and still paid too much!
This was a decent rainy day read. The writing was a wee bit clunky in some places, but I think it is mainly a drawback of the story delivery format in the mode of a futuristic media report. It's like watching the news, you're presented with disparate facts and the occasional snippet of opinion from the broadcaster, but it is missing emotion and tension.
But apart from that, at the heart of this story there is a mystery. As per most Utopias, something is rotten in the deep dark depths of the shiny pristine world. Hmmm... what could it be?!? Pretty early on you start to think, "aliens??" . Then after a while "Aliens. It's gotta be aliens!" . Of course you keep reading because you're intrigued and you really want to know, "it's aliens, right?" Turns out ... (view spoiler)

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the reading copy.
It's a dystopian novel about how humans can destroy themselves by wanting to live forever. The whole book is a report about how things truly are, while the government is stating otherwise. Well, how accurate this is... This book reminds me of something else, some other story, but I can't remember what.
I'd give it a solid 3.5 stars. Good stuff, even though it took me forever to finish :)
Finished Primelife by Robert Golino, above average scifi book that takes a fairly standard sci-fi wish (longevity) on an interesting journey into the human psyche. I do recommend gving it a read or adding it to your list.
Science Fiction at it's best. Original, thought provoking, fast paced, addicting story. Very hard to put down. No blood, gore, and endless battles with aliens but an innovative look at a future perfect world and how it evolved and the unforeseen problems that arise.
Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.
