This was a very unpredictable story with a lot of twists and turns I didn’t see coming. I kept reading so I could unearth Daphne and Heath’s secrets. They are engaged, but have agreed not to share their pasts and to live in the present. The whole time, you are left wondering what exactly are they hiding from each each other?! Alternating chapters eventually reveals all their crazy secrets and leaves you turning the pages to see how it all ends.

I loved how this book was a love letter to one of her favorite authors, very nicely done.

Thank you to Netgalley and Lake Union Publishing for the free electronic copy of this novel.

I honestly don't know where to start with this review, i finished it yesterday less than 24 hours after starting it and i adored it, This book is everything a psychological thriller should be.
From page one I was hooked and this didn't stop till the last page. From page one the tension builds and leads you down a dark, chilling path that you have to follow!

Daphne and Heath are in love, engaged and its them against the world. However both of them have secrets from their past that neither of them wants to talk about, can their love for each other survive their history?

I don't want to give to much away in this review but i will say this is a must read. I have recommended this book to family and friends and cannot wait to read what Emily Carpenter writes next!

Thank you to NetGallery, Lake Union publishing and Emily Carpenter for providing me with an ARC to review.

I had read a lot of good reviews about this book and was excited to read it myself. Unfortunately, it wasn't really my cup of tea. I am a really character driven reader, and for me, it was hard to connect to the characters in this book. That is not to say it was bad by any means. The story was interesting and I can see why people enjoyed this, but for me it fell a little short of expectations.

EVERY SINGLE SECRET by author Emily Carpenter is suspenseful dark psychological thriller focused around domestic drama. This is the author’s third book. Her previous books include: Burying the Honeysuckle Girls and The Weight of Lies. Now after reading Every Single Secret, I can’t wait to read her previous novels. This was a well-written fast-paced read, and I loved every moment of the journey. This novel is definitely a winner, with an exciting plot, well developed characters and an ending that will have your jaw-dropping with disbelief.

Emotionally guarded Daphne Amos always believed she’d found a kindred spirit in her fiancé, Heath. Both very private people, they’ve kept their pasts hidden from the world, and each other, until Heath’s escalating nightmares begin to put an undeniable strain on their relationship. Determined to give their impending marriage the best chance of succeeding, Heath insists that Daphne join him on a seven-day retreat with Dr. Matthew Cerny, a psychologist celebrated for getting to the root of repressed memories. Daphne reluctantly agrees—even though the past is the last place she wants to go.

The retreat’s isolated and forbidding location increases her unease, as do the doctor’s rules: they must relinquish their keys and phones, they’ll be monitored at all hours by hidden cameras, and they’re never to socialise with the other guests.

One sleepless night, Daphne decides to leave her room…and only then does she realize that the institute is not at all what it seems—and that whatever’s crying out from Heath’s past isn’t meant to be heard. It’s meant to be silenced.

Two people with dark pasts with their own baggage, and both harboured secrets from their past that they could not share even with each other.

“He is like me…We are the same…”

To reveal more, would spoil the effect for other readers. All I can say is I highly recommend this novel. Read this book…you won’t be disappointed! I loved it!

Many thanks to Lake Union Publishing via NetGalley for my copy.

This book started a little slow for me but picked up about mid way and held me tight. I had a lot of questions about the secrets each was keeping and I love the way the secrets were slowly revealed. I did not see that coming! The ending was extremely satisfying and I enjoyed the final page. Solid thriller that keeps readers engaged!

The first two-thirds of this book were fantastic. A great premise and great characters. The two timelines, actually three now that I'm thinking about it, work perfectly to keep the reader turning pages. I flew through this book in record time to find out why Daphne is running through the woods, which timeline this is from - is she a little girl or a grown women when this is happening, what terrible thing happened to her when she was a child, what are her fiance's secrets now. But, the last third lost me - and mostly because of the science. Why would that particular treatment help that particular child? Probably some more research into the particular theories would have helped. Thanks for the opportunity to read this.

A Woman’s Worst Nightmare!! No woman would ever imagine that walking home from work one evening would be the last time she ever did! Debbie, loving wife and mother of 2, worked some extra hours that night. It was a rainy evening and she had to walk home. After being offered a ride home from someone she has seen before, she quickly says thank you but no thank you…but “he” doesn’t take no for an answer.
Debbie has been missing for four years. Told from alternating perspectives, this story was so gripping. Reading Debbie’s POV was enough to make any person’s stomach turn. Kovach did such a great job painting the picture of the squalid conditions that Debbie was forced to live under that I really felt like I was there. I think I caught myself a couple of times holding my nose and feeling the heebie jeebies up and down my neck when this disgusting man came into the room. Most disturbingly, this very thing has happened to woman in our world and it is the most frightening thing to imagine.
As the story progresses, Luke (Debbie’s husband), has reluctantly given up hope that Debbie will ever be found alive again. He feels outrageous guilt for wanting to move forward with a nice girl that he met. JUST when he begins having feelings for Brooke, he gets word of an abandoned baby being found outside the local library. But what does this baby have to do with Luke? How is this baby girl connected to Debbie? Luke’s life will never be the same!
I absolutely loved this story and how it was written. The story flowed in a fast paced manner and kept me guessing what the outcome would be until the very end. It was so hard not to feel utter disgust for this sicko man, pure heartache for Luke and his family, and crushing fear for Debbie. Carla Kovach definitely gained a new fan and I definitely look forward to reading more of her work!

Every Single Secret by Emily Carpenter is a psychological thriller with a heavy dose of psychological! That’s right up my alley!

I like when an author creates a psychopath or sociopath that is not exactly textbook. Even psychopaths have to have grey areas. Some small thing that reaches them just a fraction. It’s pretty hard for me to talk about all the things I loved about this book without giving away too much.

Daphne and Heath both have checkered pasts, but they have agreed never to talk about them. But the past hasn’t agreed to that. Heath’s past is surfacing in the form of nightmares. Prompting Daphne’s history to haunt her as we relive it in alternating chapters. She grew up as a foster kid in a group home/ranch and she’s got a festering secret. But what are Heath’s secrets? And does she want to know?

I blew through this book in a day. It was creepy good!

Every Single Secret has the perfect title. This book is certainly an action packed, suspense filled mystery that once you start you cannot stop reading until the end. Secrets are never a good thing unless you are writing a fantastic suspense novel. Heath and Daphne certainly have interesting characteristics and Emily Carpenter did a great job with the character building. She would tell you enough to keep you wondering and the ending is crazy good! Let's just say that this retreat week is life changing and a little creepy. This was the first time I have read one of Emily's books and I'm interested in reading another one of her stories! Thanks Netgalley for the opportunity to review this creepy yet wonderful story.

5 stars! I'd been hearing great things about this book and decided to put in on my June TBR list. I must say, it did not disappoint! It was definitely a thrilling read that kept you guessing.

Daphne is engaged to the charming Heath. The only thing is, they don't know a whole lot about each other's pasts and they'd prefer to keep it that way. But when Heath convinces Daphne to attend a shady couples retreat with him where they must give up their phones and agree to be filmed, all of their secrets will be exposed.

I've had a lot going on while reading this book so it took me a bit longer to read it, but it was a pretty intense read. You aren't able to see a lot of the twists coming and I love books like that. I feel like as I was figuring everything out, everything was also being revealed to me. It wasn't too fast paced but it didn't drag either. I think it was the perfect pace. I also enjoyed how much about the past we were able to see. I really felt for Daphne and the way that she had to grow up, and I think you will too. I highly recommend this as your next thriller!

Many thanks to the author and publisher for my ARC!

4* Creepy Stars

This was a very creepy and twisted read. It had suspenseful moments too and I was holding my breath with the main character Daphne’s sneaking around. The majority of the story takes place in the remote mountains at an old mansion where “couples therapy” takes place. This is where Heath and Daphne, an engaged couple, are staying for the week so Heath can try and overcome his nightmares through therapy with Dr Matthew Cerny.

The story is told from Daphne’s point of view and begins 6 days in the future and then backtracks to the present and has some past thrown into the mix too. You are taken on a journey that is full of twists and turns. Heath and Daphne as well as the other two significant characters Dr Cerny and Glenys are riddled with hidden pasts, secrets and lies. The characters were very interesting, definitely not boring.

I did not expect the ending but was pleasantly happy the way it ended. I enjoyed this psycho read and the cover of the book is very attractive and inviting.

Thank you Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review Every Single Secret which is now available.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this great suspense novel.

Wow. Seriously. I was a nervous wreck those last few dozen pages (before the wrap-up.) Daphne is a much braver person that I am and such a colorful, strong main character.

Her secret, painful, past anchors Daphne from thinking she will ever click with someone like her. Until she meets Heath. They "get" each other and are planning to marry without ever revealing their past to each other. Daphne is okay with that, other than Heath's horrifying nightmares which are a sign they can no longer ignore.

I won't get into the story after that other than to say I literally checked my fingernails at one point because I felt like I was out on the edge of a cliff, hanging on for dear life, my heart racing like a jackrabbit! I'm impressed with the research the author did to bring these twisted, haunted characters to life!

Thank you to #NetGalley for the advanced copy of #EverySingleSecret!

I was a huge fan of this book! The story starts out with Heath asking his fiancé, Daphne, to join him at a couples retreat so he can try and figure out why he is having violent nightmares! Throughout the book you'll find out secrets on both sides and realize not everything is as it seems. The ending was rather surprising to me. I'm one who tries to predict what the "twist" is going to be throughout the entire book and didn't see this coming!

This is a very mysterious, eerie thriller that will keep you on your toes!

Heath and Daphne are engaged to be married and are a perfect match for each other. They both have secrets, have no intention of revealing them, and are quite happy with that arrangement. One day, out of the blue, Heath decided he wants to seek help for his hidden memories. He convinces Daphne to tag along with him to the Baskens Institute for one week of intensive therapy. Daphne reluctantly agrees to support him, but will not be participating in any kind of therapy herself, she’s there strictly for moral support.

I admire Daphne’s persistence and patience! Her love for Heath is quite clear. I love the fact that she will do whatever it takes to help him. Her determination to unlock the secrets of Heath’s past is admirable.

The timeline bounces around quite a bit, but I think it works really well for this story. From present day to days leading up to present day, as well as the occasional childhood flashback. It all adds to the intensity and buildup of the story and is easy to follow.

There was an intensity to the story that I really loved! Throughout most of this book I had a very creepy, uneasy feeling. I kept expecting something really bad to happen. I was completely on edge and kept expecting someone to jump out and yell “BOO!”

I had no idea how this story was going to end for the first 75% of this book. I absolutely love when that happens! Emily Carpenter has become one of my favorite authors and I cannot wait to see what she does next!
