The blurb:

Can a group of true crime addicts take on the police to catch a serial killer?

A young woman is found dead in her bedroom surrounded by rose petals - the latest victim of 'The Lover'. Struggling under the weight of an internal investigation, DI Dominic Bell is no closer to discovering the identity of the killer and time is running out.

As the murders escalate, Clementine Starke joins an online true crime group determined to take justice in their own hands - to catch the killer before the police. Hiding a dark secret, she takes greater risks to find new evidence and infiltrate the group.

As Starke and Bell get closer to cracking the case neither of them realise they're being watched. The killer is closer to them than they think, and he has his next victim - Clementine - firmly in his sights.

My opinion:

This book starts off very slowly and I wondered whether I would enjoy it or not. I didn't notice until further in how gripping it really was and how involved in it I was. I made a guess as to who the killer was, but was wrong. I would never have thought of who it actually was. I really enjoyed this book and hope it will be the first of a series. I can't wait to read the next one! 4.5*

This is my first book by Marland, but it won't be my last. The story really sucked me in from the very start and I raced through it, eager to know how the mystery would be resolved. This is a satisfying, suspenseful read and I can definitely recommend it!

I am looking forward to more in this series please.
The main characters Clem and Dominic are equally flawed and interesting and their relationship is quite addictive.
The premise of armchair detectives catching a killer is very interesting and I do wonder if this is even possible.....where would you even join such a club?
The story is very urban an very relevant bearing in mind how much or ourselves we place online these days.
I am very much looking forward to reading more.

I really enjoyed this one! It combined my a couple of my favorite things....crime investigation & true crime! It kept finding myself drawn to finish the book; as I couldn't stop thinking about it & wanted to know who the serial killer was. I would recommend this book to my friends who enjoy the genre.

I was first drawn to "My Little Eye" by Stephanie Marland when I saw the cover. It shows a mystery waiting to be solved.
I loved the connection between Clementine Starke (an edgy PHD student) and Dominic (Dom) Bell a Detective Inspector in the London police force.
Both are trying to track down a serial killer - the identity of whom I didn't guess until it was literally written on the pages in front of my eyes!
An exciting, twisty, well written police procedural/serial killer read that I very much enjoyed. I will certainly be keeping my eyes open for the next in the series.

Loved this book. Loved the idea that a true crime group was trying to solve a murder quicker then the police. This is a fast paced crime thriller that kept me guessing right to the end. Thank you Netgalley for giving me the chance to read this book

WOW - this book is amazing! I was literally on the edge of my seat. It all came together really well. My only complaint is that I’m going to have to wait ages for the next book in the series! I’m not sure I can be so patient. One of the best books I’ve read in a long time.

A serial killer is on the loose, dubbed by the press as The Lover by his very specific MO. After him are two sets of people - the Police led by Dominic Bell, a man with a lot to prove to himself and the rest of the force after a previous job goes wrong, and the very flawed Clementine, a PHD student with much to prove, and her band of amateur crime fighters, headed up by the Death Stalker. Who will find The Lover first, and what will be the consequences?

For me the story really stepped up a notch when Dominic meets Clementine. I have heard there will be further books - I hope they the pairing is the same. I really enjoyed the book, though I found one or two unanswered questions at the end.

I must confess that My Little Eye is a ‘cherry-pop’ for me, as I have not read any of the authors previous work. Stephanie Marland (also known as Steph Broadribb) has well and truly popped the lid off my Pringles with this one. I am already desperate for more.

As someone who loves thrillers and crime procedural novels, I am always hesitant to read a book by a new author. Although you have the familiar flutterings similar to when you meet a new friend or date for the first time, expectations are high and there is also a real risk. But it seems this one was worth taking.

So what is the book about:
A serial killer is targeting unsuspecting young women in London, and the murders are anything but tame. As ‘The Lover’ continues his reign of terror, the police are no closer to catching the psychopath. With no clues to lead them to the killer, Clementine Stark steps up to the plate. A PHD student and crime researcher, she quickly delves into the murky waters of the dark web and joins the keyboard warriors and armchair detectives determined to bring this criminal mastermind to his knees.

Of course, every book needs a perfectly flawed cop, it wouldn’t be the perfect book without one, and Detective Dom Bell is a cop with a past. He needs to catch this killer, more for his own sake than for those around him.

This thriller has a very strong contemporary feel with social media playing a crucial part in the plot. The idea of playing with the all too familiar ‘trial by media’ idea really gives the book a current hook. As with most thriller and crime readers, I indulge my passion for mystery watching TV shows along the same lines. And I know I am not alone. So with so many super sleuths being born these days, is it really a surprise that at some point, mere mortals will begin to believe that they can solve crimes quicker than the professionals?

My Little Eye is the perfect first novel in what I hope will become a long-running series. Starke and Bell will keep you hooked, the crimes will keep you guessing and Marland is sure to become one of your 'go-to' thriller writers.

I look forward to reading more.

This is my first novel by this author and she hasn’t disappointed me.

My little eye had me hooked from start to finish, as a big crime thriller fan, I found the story very believable and intriguing. We are introduced to the main characters Clementine and Dominic, their interesting back stories left me wanting more, for me neither character had an edge over the other and while they are both very different individuals, I found them equally likeable.

As the story unfolds we are thrown deeper and deeper into this murder mystery with its chilling twists and turns. An excellent read, and I look forward to reading the next. Highly recommend.

A brilliant start to a new police thriller series. Fast paced with believable and likeable characters.
We meet Dom a detective with issues, unlucky in love and low on his luck trying to find a serial killer who is hunting down women on Bell's patch. The book starts off fast with Bell thrown into a crime seen of a female who's murder has been made to look like two other victims from previous murders.
We also meet Clementine, a student who has her own past that haunts her present. Social media being a big part of her life, she joins an internet group, who have lost faith in the police force and join together to hunt down the killer themselves.
While the start of the book was flawless I did feel the ending was a little rushed at times, I was left feeling a little flat as to the killers motives and felt this could have been explored a little more. I wanted to see more of Starke & Bell relationship, however can understand why this is left open for a second book in the series.
Overall a good start to what I think it going to be a brilliant crime thriller series.
