Inferno is the final instalment of a book series that's starts with Talon and focuses on young dragons who can turn into humans, much the same as werewolves.
From the first book to the last, this series is just a bucket load of fun and fantasy. The first few books I read via audiobook and I recommend this to others as it is such a fun way to read about the troubles between St George, the dragon haters and assassins, and Talon, the dragon company who controls all those under their order.
Our main characters are so much fun and the themes they work through over the course of the series is really entrancing. The themes of two opposing worlds who are taught to hate each other from the moment they're born, having to come together to work with one another and try to form a more cohesive and caring world, was really exciting and I appreciated how vital this lesson is in times such as this in our world.
The romance was sweet and fun, without any insta-love and filled with a kind of Romeo and Juliet vibe that I really loved, where two star-crossed lovers had to fight their natural instincts, natures and complete ideals and morals, to grow and be together, was great.
I loved that both sides were able to overcome their hatred and realise that their ideals and 'sides of the fight' that they once thought were perfection and could never do anything wrong, to realise that their initial views could be corrupted and incorrect, was very valid to our society today. The fact that a dragon killer could open his mind and realise that maybe dragons aren't all mindless monsters, was really enlightening and something we could all learn from.
Here I go again, attempting a review for a book. I have no experience in writing anything other then when I was in high school writing assignments, so please stay with me even if it all is a bit of a mess.
What can I say about Inferno? Being book 5 in a series, I just think I expected a little more. Don't get me wrong I love this series, but there is something in me saying it could've been done in less books. It wasn't as gripping, nor did I get the "on the edge of my seat" vibes from this book as I did from the first couple. I do not give spoilers in my reviews as I don't want to ruin anything for people just looking for some extra opinions. I will say, however, that my FAVORITE character is highly underdone in this book and I want more POV's written about him. (Riley is my favorite btw). His character alone makes me give this book an extra star.
As a whole I rate this book a 4 stars. I still enjoy Julie Kagawa's writing style and read everything she writes.
If there is a Novella about Riley out there I will be pouncing on it straight away!!
I was provided an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, I am a huge Julie Kagawa fan, so when I got approved for an ARC of her new book 'Infero' I was so excited and could not wait to get started, I am happy to say it did not disappoint. I loved returing to the world of Ember and Dante and the twists and thrilling plot lines had me hooked and eager to know what happened next. I loved this book, and would recoment this series to fans of young adult fantasy,
