Enter the world of financial banking-toss in illegal offshore accounts-mix it up with foreign countries, and you have the perfect recipe for illegal money laundering. I was thrilled to learn more about dummy corporations ,including the establishment of this process, portrayed in a very easy to understand manner that made the book all the more intriguing. When a banker and a high profile Syrian woman fly off the radar and crash into the Alps, the scene is set for a high stakes game of cat and mouse. The alternating chapters are told from the point of view of the crash victim's wife and a newly engaged reporter whose good friend's death appears tied to the crash victim's story. This balance contributes to the intrigue posed by the increasingly complex events unfolding. This is a financial thriller well worth your time and investment.

The Banker's Wife is a first class thriller. Well developed characters, strong female protagonists, an interesting plot and an excellently executed storyline make for a fast paced rollercoaster of a book. I think that the author did a top notch job researching high financing and offshore companies and explaining it to readers.

This book was exciting and interesting, along with being very difficult to put down. This is the first book that I've read by Cristina Alger but it definitely won't be the last!

*I would like to thank the author/publisher/NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for a fair and honest review*

Two women in dangerous situations through no fault of their own.

Annabelle was married, but her husband seemed to be married to his job. After a plane crash, she finds out why there had been a plane crash with him in it.

Marina writes stories about men like Annabel's husband, but this current story is a bit too dangerous to continue with even though Marina does.

Actually a lot of folks seemed to be in danger, and the persons behind this situation are aware of every move Marina, Annabel, and others are making.

After the plane crash and when Annabel was out of her Geneva apartment, it was ransacked. Annabel really became angry and frightened when she came home to the damage. Marina really became angry when she found out some information about her future father-in-law and when she found her friend had been murdered for uncovering incriminating information.

What was going on? It all seemed to stem from the Swiss bank and its clients.

So many people were involved in this illegal money hiding. It is a pretty frightening concept that seems like it could be “real” in today’s world.

The behind-the-scenes hacking and finding out information is also a bit on the scary side.

The story line was interesting, but was a little slow at times with all the technical information. As the story continued, though, the tension mounted as everyone involved in the money scheme was coming to the surface and trying to keep those who knew what was going on quiet.

THE BANKER’S WIFE addressed high profile and powerful men and women where money was the catalyst, and as the saying goes “the root of all evil.”

Perhaps it isn’t a good idea to be a “banker’s wife.” :)

If you enjoy secrets, intrigue, corruption, and love, you will enjoy THE BANKER'S WIFE. 4/5

This book was given to me free of charge and without compensation by the publisher and NetGalley in return for an honest review.

In Geneva a wife is notified that her private banker husband has died in a plane crash and in Connecticut an investigative reporter is found dead. Seemingly these incidents are unconnected but are they? Annabel is devastated by her husband's Matthew's death but has the feeling that there's more to it. Marina, an investigative reporter, is searching for answers in her friends death and what she finds could be deadly. Secrets and lies have these women trying to figure out who they can trust as they try to find the truth and stay alive.

Interesting storyline and plot. I enjoyed the way two seemingly separate narratives were woven together to tell this story of international banking, deception, and loss. However, I found the pace and flow a little slow. Also I thought the writing style was a bit dry. I kept wishing to read more action scenes, and less descriptive scenes. In any book there's a fine balance between showing and telling. The Banker's Wife has trouble with this balance.

3.5 Stars. Thank you NetGalley for an ARC. A page turning entertaining read although I felt some elements seemed a bit too simplistic for characters who were in danger. Some good twists. I enjoyed it.

I absolutely loved this new book by Cristina Alger! I hadn't read anything else she's written, but I will remedy that soon.
This book features three strong female protagonists in a financial thriller that reminded me of Steve Berry's Cotton Malone thrillers. Working on different continents, these women take down a group of corrupt bankers and financiers on a global scale. The plot is thrilling, with twists and turns throughout.
I liked that you didn't need a degree in finance or journalism or computers to understand the different facets of this story. I loved the women driving this plot; they seemed three dimensional and relatable. The plot kept me guessing throughout: Who can they trust? Will they all three make it out alive?
I devoured this book in a day and a half! Put this on your must read list! It's that good.
I received an Advanced Review Copy of this book.

A first class thriller! A banker and his client are killed in a plane crash in the Alps. His wife begins to investigate, thinking that something isn't right. That puts her in danger and she's not sure who she can trust. Meanwhile, a journalist learns her mentor has been killed, but not before he arranges for her to pick up a USB drive with information on it that will make for a huge story. Are these two cases connected? You bet! And, the twists and turns associated with them keep the reader on edge through the whole book. I finished it FAST because I had to know what happened. And, oh my goodness. Well, I won't say more, or I'll spoil the plot. Read this book and find out!

This is one of the most riveting and addictive novels I’ve read in a long time! The Banker’s Wife had me hooked from page one! So much so that when I was just 10% into this novel, I had to look up Cristina Alger on Amazon to check out prior novels! How have I not read Cristina before!?!

The Banker’s Wife is filled with intense twists and turns that will have your jaw dropping! The storyline was fast paced and I loved every minute. While reading I could appreciate how fantastically well written this novel is, but after finishing, I was like WOW that was brilliant! The Banker’s Wife is a solid 5 star novel that is officially a 2018 favorite for me! I highly encourage everyone to read this gem!

The Banker’s Wife is a fabulous, well-paced thriller that delves into the offshore banking business in Geneva, Switzerland. I was drawn into the story line from the first page and stayed invested in the plot until the cleverly-crafted conclusion. Alger takes the time to explain the world of high finance and hidden offshore accounts while developing authentic and strong female characters who anchor the book. She also effectively crafts the setting, making the reader feel that she or he has been transported to Geneva. I highly recommend this book. I received this book to read and review; all opinions are my own.

There is nothing I like more than a taut, well-writen thriller, and this book met my criteria exactly. Three brave women muddle through the confusing world of hidden bank accounts and those who service them.

Alger does such a wonderful job of explaining the world of hidden wealth that I never felt confused. Her main characters are very likeable and I admire their intelligence, integrity and strength.

It is so timely since we are aware of the hidden world of money laundering, often manipulated at the highest levels of government.

I really enjoyed every moment of the book and I loved the strong women who could not be daunted in their search for the truth. In addition, I feel as if I learned a great deal about this system. Don’t miss this book, and be prepared not to put it down. Great job!
