I had a really hard time getting interested in this book. It was well written but I struggled to care about the characters, their challenges and the issues that author was bringing to light through this story. Sorry.

Parts Per Million, not surprisingly (based on the title), has a lot going on. This is a post-9/11 story of activism and friendship. A group of activists fight the power on many fronts and the novel has a frenetic feel to both their work, and the fast fall from feeling empowered to overwhelmed. There were some good characters that could have potentially been better developed with a slower pace. In places, this novel reminded me of the recent Your Heart is a Muscle the Size of a Fist.
