This was a lovely first-in-a-series cozy mystery! I do tend to like cozies that have crocheting and knitting. This was a great introduction to wonderful characters. The mystery was well done. I thought the additional of Catrina, the cat, was well done. She was her own character as well. I will certainly be waiting for the next book in the series!
Murder, She Knit by Peggy Ehrhart was a refreshing change in cozy mysteries.
The protagonist, Pamela Paterson's daughter is off to college and she stays busy as an associate editor of a craft magazine as well as being involved in a knitting group. She is calm, independent, practical and seems to be content with her life within her community.
I enjoyed getting to know Pam and the other members of her knitting group. I look forward to seeing the characters developed more fully as the series progresses. The plot was smoothly paced and the twists and turns kept me guessing. This was an easy and comfortable cozy that kept my attention throughout the book.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book from Kensington via NetGalley. All of the above opinions are my own.
Not my favorite of the knitting cozy genre but you'll like this if you haven't read many with the same theme. Pamela's friend Amy is found dead- and she's got a knitting needle stuck in her- just as Pamela is hosting a knitters group. Of course, Pamela and her neighbor Bettina must investigate. This part was pretty standard and frankly there weren't as many twists as I like. There are recipes and a knitting pattern, as well as tips for knitters, which is a plus. I don't like to be negative but it felt to me as if there was much more potential here and that Ehrhart was coasting. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
This book's cover caught my eye! It is very colorful and the cat/tea/yarn aspect had me wanting to read. :) The story did not disappoint. The plot moved along at a great pace and the mystery had me interested until the end. I look forward to the next one in this series!
I enjoyed reading this book. Pamela meets an old friend and invites her to her knitting club. Unfortunately she is murdered on her way to the first meeting. Pamela decides to investigate her murder as she feels responsible. The characters are well written and entertaining and there's possible a new love interest. loved the inclusion of the knitting and the cat, Catrina. I was given the opportunity to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley and the publisher.
There’s a good amount of potential here but the super cheesy murderer really turned me off.
Cozy fun mystery. I liked this book. It kept you guessing who committed the murders. And even when Pamela had figured it out, you were still wondering. Lots of fun characters with little twists and turns as you learn more about them. It was fun reading the interactions between the knitting group members...they were each unique and had different personalities. Would enjoy reading more books in this series.
Murder, She Knit by Peggy Ehrhart is a cozy that is as sweet as the cover. It is light, cozy and definitely has some great warm feelings. I love the sense and theme of community and family that this book highlights, and the joys and pains of celebrating the holidays after loss and change. Some touching moments in the book and a good read. I like that the main character has a college age daughter and that she is pretty self sufficient, not in real need or crisis but in a comfortable place when the story begins. It is a refreshing and welcome look at life 50+. Well worth keeping an eye on for your TBR list this month!
What a pleasant surprise, and a great first story in a new series.
Murder, She knit is perfect fro lovers of cozy mysteries. The overall story flowed really well and the characters were so loveable.
A knitting group, with some dark secrets and murder... what could happen?
Steady Plot and Pleasant Characters
Murder, She Knit is the first book in Peggy Ehrhart’s Knit & Nibble Mystery series. The writing flows smoothly, the well-developed characters are likeable, and the mystery was interesting and kept me guessing until the final reveal. There are several side stories in addition to two murders and the author tied everything up neatly. I’m looking forward to reading more books in this series.
Pamela Paterson is a widow with a daughter, Penny, in college who lives in Arborville, New Jersey. She’s an associate editor of a craft magazine and the founder of the Knit and Nibble knitting club that meets every Tuesday evening. In addition to Pamela, the group consists of Bettina Fraser, Nell Worthington, Roland DeCamp, and Karen Dowling. Pamela runs into Amy Morgan, a friend who was her husband’s colleague at an architectural firm before he was killed in an accident at a construction site five years ago. When she learns Amy took a position teaching interior design at Wendelstaff College, recently moved to Arborville, and taken up knitting, Pamela invites her to join the knitting club at her house that evening. Amy accepted the invitation and Pamela was disappointed when she didn’t show up. While looking in her yard for the plastic dish she used to feed Catrina, the stray kitty she’d started feeding, she discovered Amy’s body in her hedges with a metal knitting needle stabbed into her chest. Pamela and her neighbor and fellow knitter, Bettina, are determined to find the murderer, and their investigation leads to secrets, multiple suspects, and some mysterious yarn. The police never warned Pamela to keep out of their case, but Penny is concerned for her mother’s safety.
I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from NetGalley and voluntarily reviewed it.
This first book in a new series introduces us to Pamela Patterson, Mother, widow, magazine editor, and member of the Knit and Nibble group of knitters who meet each week to share knitting projects and have a snack. When Amy Morgan, a former colleague of her late husband who helped Pamela through her loss, moves to town, Pamela notices she’s a knitter and given the invites her to join the Knit and Nibble group. But Amy doesn’t show and after everyone leaves Pamela finds Amy dead in the shrubs in her yard…with a knitting needle stuck in her chest.
Did the murderer randomly use the needles Amy was carrying in her knitting bag? Worried that the needle points to a member of the Knit and Nibble group, Amy and her best friend, Bettina, begin sleuthing to find the murderer and clear the members of their group.
While I certainly hadn’t nailed down the murdered and was surprised, they did pique my interest but I couldn’t come up with a reason why they would have murdered Amy. The clues were enough to make me wonder, but not strong enough to have figured it out until the reveal. While I enjoy cozy mysteries, this one just didn’t quite click for me as I found Pamela a bit boring and a few things just didn’t flow well for me in the story. But being the first in a new series, I look forward to seeing the second installment and seeing where the author takes things.
I received a free copy of Murder, She Knit by Peggy Ehrhart in exchange for an honest review. Pamela Paterson has just renewed her acquaintance with someone who was kind to her during a difficult time. Pamela is excited to invite her friend to join her knitting group and disappointed when the lady does not attend as promised. Pamela’s disappointment turns to shock when she later discovers that same friend’s body in the hedges. Determined to find the murderer, Pamela and her next-door neighbor begin their investigation.
I enjoyed both the plot and the characters, especially the cat! I look forward to the next mystery in this series. Tips for beginning knitters and recipes are included at the end of the book.

Another book that makes me want to learn to knit! Well written with fun characters. The dark secretes was a twist to the usual knitting cozies, but not complaining. Looking forward to more.
Steady plot, pleasant characters.
The Knit & Nibble group meets every Tuesday evening. Pamela, Bettina, Nell, Jean, Karen & Roland are looking forward to welcoming new member Amy. Unfortunately Amy is found murdered in Pamela's hedge as they leave Pamela's house.
The small college town of Arborville NJ provides a number of potential murderers along with potential romance possibilities.
There are enough leads for multiple suspects to be plausible and a surprise ending.
A comfortable cozy with lots of potentially interesting adventures for future stories.
This is a fun first in a new series.
I really enjoy knitting cozy mysteries and this was a pleasant surprise.
A knitting group, dark secrets and murder are all a part of Murder, She Knit.
The story flowed smoothly and the characters were fun to get to know.
I hope this series continues.
The vibrant color of the cover and the description are sure to grab the eye of cozy mystery fans.
I voluntarily read an ARC of this book provided by the publisher and NetGalley.
In this promising start to a new series, widowed Pamela Paterson invites her husband's former colleague Amy Morgan who recently took a job with a local college to her home for the weekly knitting group meeting. When Amy doesn't show up, Pamela assumes something came up at the university. Later that evening while looking for the cat's bowl, she discovers her friend's body in the shrubbery with a knitting needle poking out of her body. The needle seems to point to someone in the group, but Amy made some controversial decisions during her short time chairing the department, supplying suspects outside the frame of the needlework circle. Pamela doesn't think police always ask the right questions and begins to investigate with the help of neighbor and fellow knitter Bettina.
The conclusion of this one caught me a bit by surprise although I confess to coming up with no solution of my own. The clues were present, but not obvious. I'm a bit baffled why the police did not interact with Pamela more and warn her about sleuthing. I loved the cat who adopted Pamela and look forward to Catrina's becoming more comfortable around her pet human. The main characters and setting were well-developed. I look forward to the next installment of the series and to seeing how the characters develop over the course of the series. I received an advance electronic galley from the publisher through NetGalley with the expectation of an honest review.
I am not usually a fan of "knitting" cozies, but I quite enjoyed this one.
The characters were appealing and the whodunit kept me guessing until the final reveal.
I look forward to reading the next in the series.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanace Reader Copy of this book.
I loved this book as it combined two of my favorite things - mysteries and knitting. It had characters I could easily relate to, an interesting plot and it was situated in places that I know and love. Pamela Patterson is going to be hosting a meeting of her knitting group when she runs into an old friend, Amy, who is now teaching at the local college. Pamela invites Amy to the next meeting of her knitting group, but Amy does not show up as promised. When Pamela goes outside after the meeting to find her cat's food dish she instead finds Amy's body, with a knitting needle stuck through her heart. There are suspects galore - ranging from some of the knitting group members to the victim's sister and a special yarn found in Amy's yarn stash which lead Pamela and her friend Bettina on a search for suspects. Then Pamela stumbles across a second victim in the trash at Amy's old apartment building also stabbed in the heart. How are they related and will Pamela find the solution before the police? You will have to read this entertaining book to find out! It's a great one.
