I honestly did not think I was going to like this book. The thought of abuse hits home with me. Not now but back when I was very young, like 16. It was my first time to ever date and he was very mean. Hit then rape. I was alone and had no one. This book was not about rape but it was about abuse. Mental and physical. I’ve read a review that says, why didn’t her friends tell her to leave and how stupid the book was because of his abuse and her stupid for taking it. Things like that are life. Not all life, but some. It happens and it’s good that it was written about. Adam didn’t just start right out being an abuser. Like others he did it slowly. Broke her down and made her fall deeply for him. Then he took advantage of her love and how much she cared about him. He was a very cruel man. She was human. Abuse happens and the abused have a hard time getting away. Sometimes because they have no one and sometimes out of fear. Also from both fear and having no one. Never judge someone who is being abused. It’s an awful thing to go through.

You will love some of these characters and truly hate some. You might even come to care for some that you don’t think you will. Things are not always as they seem. This book is one that after I truly got into it was written very well. Great characters, well some. Great storyline. I think Sandie Jones did a good job with this story and I’m glad I read it even though the end sure made me cry.

I gave this book 5 stars because I think it deserved it. It’s a story that you won’t be forgetting very quickly for sure. Great job!!

Thank you to NetGally and St Martin’s Press for this copy. My review is mine and not because I received this from them. I honestly liked this book.

I’ve read several family dramas recently, so that probably gave me a leg up on solving the mystery well before the big reveal. Suffice it to say that it was a brilliant mystery and one that kept me reading just to see if I was correct in my guess.

It would be easy to berate Emily, the main character, for bad decisions and being easily swayed to poor judgment. At first I wanted to yell at her and say, “Wake up!” However, her justifications and reasoning made sense when taken at face value. A good relationship takes hard work. I’ve often said that my husband and I have to both give 110% just to make it, since we are also compensating for the kids (who aren’t always giving a fair percentage toward our family.) For this reason, I understand why Emily was willing to overlook or second-guess her feelings. Keeping the peace usually means someone has to make a sacrifice.

Emily’s support system included a terrific pair of best friends, Pippa and Seb. I LOVED those characters and the way they fought for Emily! Even when a character is vile and despicable, it adds to a story — in this case, we’ve all heard about the horrors of a terrible mother in law. Jones doesn’t disappoint with her depiction of Pammie!

It’s tough to believe The Other Woman is a debut. I look forward to reading more from this author!

Lindsay and I read The Other Woman with four of our Traveling Sisters and we all pretty much had the same thoughts on this one till that shocking reveal that split us into two different coulees.

The Other Woman is a fun and entertaining domestic suspense thriller with some very unlikable characters. The kind you just love to hate and the kind the can cause you to question them and this created some discussion for us. Our favorite character here that we loved to hate was “the other woman” Pammie who was the MIL form you know where. The length she went to stop our main character Emily from marrying her son Adam left us with a bit to talk about. A few things didn't ring true for us with some of the actions of the characters causing us to suspend some disbelief

On to that ending that none of seen coming and split us into different coulee. The big reveal seemed to come out of nowhere and we began to question if some clues were given to us along the way that we missed or did it just come out of nowhere. For some of us, the ending made the story for us and for the rest it just didn’t work for them.

I recommend this one to readers looking for an entertaining and fun read with some very unlikable character and an ending that we will challenge your detective skills. There is some need to spend some disbelieve with some of the actions of these characters.

Emily thinks Adam’s perfect; the man she thought she’d never meet. But lurking in the shadows is a rival; a woman who shares a deep bond with the man she loves. Emily chose Adam, but she didn’t choose his mother Pammie. There’s nothing a mother wouldn’t do for her son, and now Emily is about to find out just how far Pammie will go to get what she wants: Emily gone forever. This book had me turning the pages SO fast. I had a deep hatred for Pammie (which also made me thankful I have a great MIL haha!) and the ending totally threw me for a loop. I never would have seen that coming & I love when books keep you guessing! This one totally took a turn I never would have thought of at all!

Many thanks to NetGalley, Minotaur Books, and Sandie Jones for the opportunity to read this deliciously creepy debut novel - 5 stars! I can't wait to read more from this author.

Emily meets Adam they fall happily in love. Everything seems perfect - until she meets Pammie, his mother. Pammie seems hellbent on destroying any chance of happiness the two have, exploits Adam's neediness for his mother, and never misses an opportunity for a snarky comment. Adam seems oblivious to his mother's treatment of Emily which only threatens their bond further.

Enough said - you need to just read this book. The ending will leave you speechless! Highly recommended - I couldn't put it down and loved this book!

The wicked witches in fairy tales seem to have nothing over Pammie! She seems like she will be the mother-in-law from hell! So many twists and turns in this well-written and fast-reading book but I don't want to give anything away so it's hard to write a comprehensive review. Some characters I liked, some I hated; and more than once I wanted to shake some sense in Emily! The descriptions are good and the narrative moves along at a fast pace. I didn't want to put this book down until I was finished reading!

Nobody is who they seem and there are secrets galore - with a big twist ending I didn't see coming. A great thriller!

I really went into this book thinking that I would love it but it really did not hit all the right notes for me. I don't know if I just didn't really care about any of the main characters or what, but I found myself wanting to flip ahead to see what happened instead of riding it out. It is not a bad book at all, it just was not for me.

Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's for a copy of this book.

The Other Woman by Sandie Jones
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Did not see that coming. Without giving the ending away, I must say this book kept me engrossed with a love/hate relationship for Emily's almost mother-in-law. It seems Pammie (MIL) was always on Emily's case where her son, Adam was concerned. She actually didnt want them to get married and did everything in her power to break them up.

I sometimes wanted to ring Pammie's neck myself. But Adam and Emily trudge on to make their relationship work even when little baby Poppy comes along. You will love this book and not want to put it down as you follow this weird relationship of the Banks family.

Thank you Netgalley and the Publishers for allowing me to read this ARC, The Other Woman by Sandie Jones. This book started out a little slow for me and I thought I had it all figured out but was wrong. The author does a good job of bringing the characters to life, I alternated between wanting to will some backbone into Emily for what she let slide, to wanting to shake Pammie for what she was doing to Emily and then there is Adam......don't get me started on him.....

I have a soft spot for UK-based domestic suspense novels. So I when I read the plot summary of The Other Woman, I was hooked. I haven't had much experience with mother-in-laws being the cause of the circumstances. Unfortunately, this book stumbled from the beginning with a main character that I didn't really like and then it skipped over some key character and relationship development that caused me to not care down the line.
And the ending. The ending felt so rushed and the twist was so unbelievable. I had to read it twice because it was such a leap and the epilogue was pointless.
Such a disappointment, but I am open to reading another book from Ms. Jones.

Here we have a love triangle of a different sort. That of a mother, a son, and his soon to be fiance. Yet love is not really a word I would use in this particular scenario. Because mother, Pammie, despises her son Adam's fiance, Emily, and she will stop at nothing to keep the two apart.

I need to give Sandie Jones credit in creating a wicked villain in Pammie. She is the reason why I continued to flip the pages. Every word that came from her mouth made me seethe with fury. Initially my heart broke for Emily and I wanted her to succeed in outwitting Pammie but as the story progressed I started to find Emily just down right pathetic. Adam, of course, believes his mother is a saint and that Emily is the one causing the rift in the relationship.

There were just SOOOOO many opportunities for Emily to prove to Adam how malicious a woman his mother could be but she just chose not to in fear of upsetting him? Really? I would of kicked this mamma's boy to the curb long well before this. I really wanted to smack some sense into her.

All in all it was a decent read that I enjoyed and it was nice entertainment for a couple days. 3.5 stars!

Thank you to NetGalley & St. Martin's Press for providing me with a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review. Also, thanks to BookishFirst for sending me a physical copy that I won in a giveaway.

Definitely not an original story and not big on British storyline, I definitely had a hard finishing.

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to preview The Other Woman by Sandie Jones.

When you meet the man of your dreams, you are so happy. YOu are eager to please and especially excited when you meet the "family". A woman meets the mother in law from hell and it goes from bad to worse.
This thriller is a bumpy ride and readers will start to wonder how this is gonna end - and it looks bad for everyone.

Interesting and fast paced.

Fans of twisty, tense, psychological suspense (see what I did there?!) will eat this one up! Absolutely floored that this is a debut!

The Other Women by Sandie Jones is a thriller about Emily and her boyfriend Adam. The other women in this story is Adam's mother Pammie. Pammie takes every opportunity to destroy the couple's relationship. I enjoyed this book even though I didn't like the 3 main characters. Emily never stood up for herself, which really bothered me. I did love the twist in the end, so it was worth the read. I recommend this book for if you enjoy thrillers,

I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

It's always exciting to discover a debut novelist who leaves you wanting more. That's how I feel about Sandie Jones and her book "The Other Woman." This is a fun, fast-paced psychological thriller about a couple in love and his truly hateful mother. Emily is deeply, madly in love with Adam, but Adam's mother seems to be singularly determined to thwart their relationship. Seriously, over-the-top! But Emily persists, marrying Adam and having a baby. And then things go awry, leading to an exciting last chapter twist.

I enjoyed this novel, but only gave it 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4, because it felt a little too familiar to me. Maybe I'm just reading too many psychological thrillers with twisty endings lately? I also just couldn't tolerate Adam, which made it hard for me to be empathetic with Emily. I would have dumped his ass the first time he sided with his mother over me! And I would never have let him dictate my friendships.

Nonetheless, it was a fun read and the ending was very satisfying. I would definitely recommend "The Other Woman" and look forward to Jones's next novel.

Psychological thriller is exactly what this book is. I was stuck to the edge of my seat while reading word after word, page after page, and chapter after chapter. I could stop reading. I won’t give it away but it seems no one is at he/she seems. Everyone has a secret and until the end of the book, you won’t know who is telling the truth.

This is a tough review to write only because I want to tell you all about it but The Other Woman needs to be read without knowing the spoilers. I knew how it would end, I knew that Emily and Adam would figure out how to get past his crazy mother, Pammie would figure out how to accept Emily…everything I knew was not quite what happens. I have to say that I wasn’t totally wrong but I wasn’t totally right either.

The Other Woman in one of the best psychological thrillers I have ever read and definitely one of the best in 2018. As a debut author, Sandie Jones is now one of my must-read authors.

Whoa. I’m going to be very frank here - I almost gave up on this when I was about a third of the way in. It started very slow and I wasn’t sure where the author was going. But Ringa started building, and then they just kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger and then BOOM came the ending that I did not anticipate. While I’m really glad that I finished this, there are a lot of things I didn’t like about this book. I found it difficult to connect with any of the characters. Emily really annoyed me. She was so oblivious to all of the warning signs around her that I actually found myself yelling at her at one point. I didn’t find Adam to be likeable at all, so it was very difficult for me to understand why Emily fell for him.

I’m giving this three stars but really, it’s more like 3.5 stars from me.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The Other Woman by Sandie Jones drew me in the blurb and kept me engaged with the story. How far would a mother go to protect her son? Or at least protect him as she thought best. I am not sure where to start, except you just have to read this.

Emily fell for Adam. She thinks he is just about perfect. Everything about him is what she wants in a man. Then she met his mother. Pammie loves her son. More than anything in the world. So much so, that will do whatever it takes to keep any woman away from her son. And so it begins!

The Other Woman was a story full of twists and turns and the unexpected! Nothing new here, but the story was engaging and I could not wait to see what would happen next!

Happy reading!

Wow, this book was shockingly gritty and addicting! It grinds like sandpaper on your every nerve, but yet you have to keep reading! Some aspects of the storyline were rather cliche, but the pacing and the writing were enough to keep me engaged and satisfied.

Emily has finally found the man of her dreams in Adam. He is sweet and caring....but a little too close to his mother, Pammie. Emily tries to play nice, but Pammie will have none of that, and wants nothing more than to have Adam all to herself. Adam himself defends his mother and often blames Emily for the rift between the two women.

For all of the grinding of the nerves throughout the book, on top of everything there comes an absolutely CRAZY ending that I did not see coming!
