A twisty tale of what happens when Meredith goes missing and her sister Greer searches for her. They both tell the story- and you might like one more than the other. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
I feel like most of the book was fast paced and great. but the end did not hold up to the beginning of the book. Quick read. Just wish that there was an alternate ending.
A twisty psychological thriller about a woman who disappears and the desperate sister trying to find out what has happened to her. "The Thinnest Air" is a big page turner with lots of surprises. I had a hard time figuring out the solution, and I love books like that. The writing was also solid. Fans of psychological thrillers may want to check this out.
This is a wisely plotted story of a pretty young wife gone missing. Did Meredith went voluntarily or unvoluntarily? If not from her own will, who is responsible? Meredith's sister Greer wants the answers.
I have enjoyed this fast-paced mystery; where the frantic timeline of lookout is mixed with the Meredith's voice telling her story from the beginning of her marriage.
Several red herrings are thrown our way and I was sure several times about the solution, only to be proven wrong. My bad, but also my good, as I like nothing that much as a smart plotting!
And let me say this - I understand why Meredith is written as such a character and several motifs are set on her being the person she is, yet I still do not like her. But I like her sister.
I will follow Ms Kent from this novel on as she definitely can bring one swift, intelligent mystery on the table!
Thank you so much for the opportunity to review this book and to be an early reader via NetGalley! However, I will not be writing a review for this title at this time, as my reading preferences have since changed somewhat. In the event that I decide to review the book in the future, I will make sure to purchase a copy for myself or borrow it from a library. Once again, thank you so much for providing me with early access to this title. I truly appreciate it. Please feel free to contact me with any follow-up questions or concerns.
Ms. Kent never fails to astound me. Her thriller novels draw the reader in and keeps them there until the end. This is yet another novel that I predict will be on the screen someday. It has that made for television flare. Engrossing, mesmerizing, fast paced story line with the novelty of a small, ski town in the mountains of Utah.
The story is about a young, beautiful woman, who was raised by her older sister. Hence, a bond developed between Meredith Price and Greer Ambrose that was unbreakable. The two shared everything until Meredith fell in love with Andrew, a rich older man, whom whisk her away to a glamorous, yet lonely life. Unfortunately, that lonely life led Meredith Price on a path of distrust, lying, secrecy and infidelity. Then she just vanished out of thin air.....
Ms. Kent weaves a plot full of twist and turns, that kept me drawn to the edge. The characters were well developed in their rolls and I found myself sympathizing with them one moment and disgusted with them in another. I highly recommend this novel to those who enjoy a suspenseful ride of who done it.....
I was afforded an advanced reader copy from the author in exchange for my voluntary review.
I am sorry for not reviewing fully but I don’t have the time to read this anymore. I believe that it wouldn't benefit you as a publisher or your book if I only skimmed it and wrote a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for not fully reviewing!
Two sisters, one missing, one determined to find her, and the perfect charming husband
That’s about all I have here for this one. The Thinnest Air is an easy, simple story with not too much new or different. It is a change of pace from the dark and twisted I usually read but just wasn’t that entertainment to have me invested enough in the story for it to work or me.
I did enjoy the bond between Geer and Meredith and I did find Geer to be a bit interesting character and I enjoyed her POV. Meredith was just not that memorable.
Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for a copy to read and review
I had a difficult time putting it down to get anything else done! The storyline and the twisty plot kept me engaged from beginning to end.
This is the third book I’ve read by Minka Kent. All are great reads.
This book is centred around two sisters-Meredith and Greer. Greer is the older sister who runs several coffee shops with her ex boyfriend called Harris. Meredith is young and naive. She married Andrew a multi millionaire twice her age, against Greer’s advice.
Then one day Meredith goes missing from a grocery store car park. Her purse and mobile phone are left in her open car. Greer flies to Glacier Park to help find her sister. But not all is how it seems.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were well depicted and multi faceted. However I felt that the ending cold have been less predictable. Definitely worth a read. Thank you to #netgalley for the opportunity to review one of my favourite authors.
I really enjoyed reading this. The story of a missing woman, and her sister will stop at nothing to find her. Is it her husband, the older and richer father figure? Or is it her stalker, who was supposedly dealt with by police? It definitely take a bit of a surprising turn!
ARC in exchange for my thoughts
I really don't know what there is to Minka Kent's stories but I am drawn into them as soon as I start reading. It is not only the setting and the plot but the whole package!
So far I enjoyed every single book by this author. She creates clever and suspenseful yet believable stories. This book is no exaption!
I do not want to give away too much about the plot.
If you enjoy thrillers with authentic charakters and lots of red herrings this will work out for you.
Fun read! I liked the alternating timelines and viewpoints. I didn’t see the ending coming! I have never read a book by Minka Kent before and I will definitely be seeking out more.
I've read a few Minka Kent books and they really are hit or miss when it comes to reader engagement and overall shock/thriller value. This one started off very interesting and I was expecting so much more from it. Meredith is married to Andrew, a man almost double her age. Andrew is wealthy and Meredith's sister, Greer, scoffs at the fact that Meredith said she would never become one of "those" women with the shoes with the red bottoms. One day Meredith seems to disappear into thin air. Thus the title. The author takes the reader on a bit of a cat and mouse chase until the facts all come together into a predictable ending. This book really could have been good with a more creative ending.
Thank you to Netgalley, Minka Kent, and Thomas & Mercer for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A beautifully written but disappointing read that did not deliver the twists and turns I’d hoped for. SO sorry, but I can only rate it 2 stars.
At first glance, this book had it all: an intriguing setting (a ski resort town filled with filthy rich businessmen and their wives), two sisters, a stalker, and a disappearance… I was hoping for something like Gone Girl, something with plenty of twists and turns to keep me guessing at every page.
Instead, the book delivered none of those twists. This is one of the most predictable thrillers I have read. It was just bland, boring, with a cast of characters so deeply unlikeable I honestly didn’t care if any of them made it out alive.
Perhaps it’s because I’ve been reading some truly amazing thrillers lately (like Sometimes I Lie and Friend Request), but this one fell abysmally short for me and I am so SO disappointed because I’d been looking forward to reading this for months.
I will say though, that I immensely enjoyed the writing style. I loved the intricate, details descriptions of everything, but they almost felt like they were more suited to a different genre than a thriller. I think I would’ve enjoyed this book more if it were a sort of romance. As a thriller, it just didn’t measure up.
This was my first book by Minka Kent. I’m not really convinced I should read more by her, but I am still interested in The Memory Watched and The Perfect Roommate, since I’ve already bought them. I’m just so bummed I didn’t enjoy this. If I do pick up another book from her, I’ll do it for the writing style and definitely not expecting a thrilling/twisty ride.
Would recommend for: I honestly wouldn’t recommend this book. Unless you maybe want a very very light thriller that’s more just suspense women’s fic. I can’t really compare it to anything either, but I’d love to find a book in a similar wintery setting done well (that setting could’ve been used way more too, as it was so intriguing!)
4.5*
Let me start off by saying, what a pleasant surprise this book was. I’d been putting off reading this one after seeing so many mixed reviews. I desperately wanted a genuinely, thrilling read. (And who doesn’t?) So…from the start to the very last words, this one fully delivered. Thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it!
This is the second book I’ve read by Minka Kent, the first being The Memory Watcher and I enjoyed this one equally as much.
The author has the ability to quickly draw you in and keep you focused, engaged and guessing throughout.
Meredith meets the man of her dreams. Okay, he is a little older, but love conquers all, right?! Wined, dined and pampered, and in an extremely rapid fashion, she is now sporting the new initials MRS. and living among the 1% in an exclusive ski village in Utah with her new husband Andrew.
Here comes the bump in the road... One day Meredith vanishes...seemingly into thin air!
Told from both the perspectives of Meredith and her older sister Greer, from timelines of before and after “the vanishing.”
Again, what a pleasant surprise that I most definitely recommend!
A fast and fun buddy read with Susanne!🌸
Thank you to NetGalley, Thomas & Mercer and Minka Kent for an ARC to read in exchange for an honest review
I’m so into Minka Kent’s thrillers. Fun to read and so suspenseful! I didn’t see the last twist coming at ALL.
Definitely a page turner. A very gripping Psychological Thriller. It had you thinking you knew who did it and why then all of a sudden the plot thickened and changed. The mistakes Meredith chose could have cost her her life. With pieces of the story not adding up and the love that Greer had for her sister, she never gave up until she found her.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC for my Kindle.
The book started out and continued for the most part as a page turner with twists and turns that I didn't see coming. But then the ending seemed rushed and was over too fast for me.
Great book! Kept you on your toes.
Could not wait to turn the page!
You are drawn into the characters and find that you are not sure which side of the law you would be on,.
