Tiger vs. Nightmare is a very cute read and makes for a great standalone graphic novel. Awesome debut graphic novel and always pleasant to see a new name putting out children's graphic novels. Hope to see more from Emily

Lovely story about nightmares, monsters under the bed, and courage. Tiger is supposed to be a courageous animal, but this little one is afraid of nightmares. With the help of her friend monster, they fight the nightmares. Until one day she is courageous enough to face her own mind and get rid of the nightmares for real. The art is gorgeous!

An adorable story of a tiger who works with the monster from under his bed to fend off nightmares. He had the power to keep the nightmares away all along!

I LOVED this book! Tiger (who lives in a cool futuristic world with all animal characters but awesome flying vehicles that I totally want to see more of) has a monster under her bed who fights off her nightmares each night...until he can't. This was just such a cool twist on a common theme - little kids everywhere are equally scared of the monster under the bed and their nightmares, but Tiger here has made her monster her best friend and since he can't scare her, he'll scare away the nightmares...and it has worked out really well! All in all it was a great story on friendship, facing your fears, working together, etc. And I really loved the watercolor illustrations, too - especially at the end the colors got so vibrant!

A terrific story with fantastic illustrations that simultaneously explains how nightmares work and how we don't need to fear monsters under the bed. I loved the story, the art, and the ending.

First Second knocked it out of the park again. This is an adorable elementary grade graphic novel with huge visual appeal. The visual appeal, in fact, is so great that as I was reading, my six year old walked by, plucked it out of my hands, and then devoured the book in one sitting (she loved it). The graphics are full color, with a watercolor effect (unclear if it was hand colored or digital), but either way, the illustrations strike a perfect balance between adorable and gorgeous. The story will appeal to kids who enjoyed graphic novels like Jellaby or Nightlights, or picture books like Jeremy Draws a Monster. Though the cover will clearly appeal to younger grades and readers of Narwhal and Jelly, some of the illustrations offer up a delicious creepiness that will probably resonate strongly with readers grades 3-5. Very sweet book with satisfying story & conclusion. Highly recommend for elementary.

Super adorable and sweet. Tiger’s best friend is the monster under her bed named Monster who protects her sleep from nightmares. One night though a nightmare/monster shows up too strong for Monster to take on alone. Can these two friends work together towards a solution?
I loved this so much. I wish I’d had this when my nephew went through his “monster” phase. I think it would have done him a world of good. Can’t recommend this one enough. So cute.

Tiger has a Monster living under her bed. Not a scary Monster, though - a friendly, adorable monster named Monster that keeps Tiger's nightmares at bay by scaring them off. But a big nightmare arrives one night and Monster can't fight it alone -- so Tiger and Emily devise a plan to fend it off once and for all.

This story is sweet and wonderful and the art complements it beautifully. If you've got a kiddo, know someone who has a kiddo, or remember the terror of childhood nightmares, you should pick this up. It's one of the best things I've read in a loooong time.

This is a cute graphic novel for young readers. Tiger has a monster under his bed, but this monster is different. He does not want to scare Tiger, so instead he helps Tiger by keeping his nightmares away. They even play together and Tiger always brings him something to eat after dinner. His parents think he is make believe, but they do not discourage him. When one of his nightmares is so big, monster can't scare him away. Tiger can't sleep and he is scared. Finally he and monster come up with a plan where they will work together. After all, the nightmares are in Tiger's head. Once Tiger realizes this, he and monster are able to scare away the terrible nightmare. The illustrations are quite cute but the nightmare might be a little scary to some younger children. I don't think this would make a good bedtime story, but if you have a child bothered by nightmares, this might be a good book to read together and discuss. Tiger learns that working together does the trick as well as realizing that nightmares and monsters are just in your mind, not real. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley.

Tiger vs. Nightmare by Emily Tetri is an adorable introduction to graphic novels for younger children. Tiger has a very special friend, a Monster who lives under her bed and scares away her nightmares. They spend their evenings playing games and sharing Tiger’s dinner. Tiger’s parents believe Monster is an imaginary friend, but Monster is much more. When one nightmare becomes too big for Monster to fight off, Tiger and Monster must work together to keep Tiger’s dreams from becoming scary.
Beautifully illustrated and gently told, the story is both entertaining for little ones and teaches the lesson that sometimes you just need a friend’s help.
