The Shadow Rider Series
.
Shadow Rider: I’ve read this book over and over again. I can’t seem to get it out of my head. It’s starting to look a little well loved and worn but that’s ok. This is the first in the series and it’s an amazing build up of the Shadow Rider world.
.
Shadow Reaper: I have to admit it took me a little longer to get into the second book in the series. But once you get there...holy hotness, Batman. There are ropes involved...that’s all I’m sayin...
.
Shadow Keeper: This is the steamiest of the series by far. I love a heroine who takes what she wants and then asks for more. Too many alpha hero books have meek heroines. Sasha is just as alpha as the hero in this one.
.
Shadow Warrior: The slowest of the series so far but the hero is the closest to a true alpha besides Stefano. He even calls himself a dominant. The love story works but the under lying suspense plot was a little drawn out.
.
Shadow Flight: One I’ve been waiting for. Besides the sister’s book. I liked the slow burn lead up through the whole series to this couple.
.
I’m not going to lie. I didn’t read a lot of Christine Feehan until my twenties when I discovered the Carpathian series. I binge read for awhile but fell away. At a convention a friend told me about the new series about to come out (my friend is one of Ms. Feehan’s beta readers so she had the inside scoop). Once I got my hands on the book I fell into this world of shadows and alpha men. I love it.
.
Have you read any Christine Feehan?

Another book in the Shadow series. Giovanni Ferraro is tired af being a playboy until he meets Sasha, the waitress in his club. When their shadows meet, he knows she is his.

Set in Chicago, the Shadow Riders series is a paranormal saga with crime family flair. The series follows the no-nonsense love and life adventures of the Ferraro family. Perceived mafia, the Ferraros live an outward life of privilege, but a private life of duty. Those within the sanctity of Ferraro territory can expect unparalleled protection and those who cross the Ferraros can expect unrivalled wrath. As riders of the shadows, the Ferraros can exact their stealthy vengeance with impunity.

Book three is the tale of Giovanni; a middle brother who has been sidelined from the action due to an earlier injury. Playing the role of lascivious playboy of leisure becomes a tiresome burden when Sasha sashays into Giovanni’s nightclub. Sasha, repulsed by Giovanni’s reputation, is a hardworking server uninterested by the lure of her darkly decadent boss. Soon, Sasha realizes there’s more to the Ferraros than she initially believed.

I love this series. Three books in and I’m as riveted as ever. With at least two sibling stories simmering on the backburner, anticipation is mounting. All three books have followed the same basic pattern with the same elements. The fact that I’m still hooked is a testament to Feehan’s effective storytelling. I’m still a little unclear on how the paranormal aspects of the story work; this element of the series is certainly nuanced. What’s not nuanced is the romance. The Ferraros – these dangerous, hardened assassins – fall hard and fast. As with any Feehan vehicle I’ve read, Shadow Keeper is rife with scenes of graphic, steamy sex between hard-bodied beauties with unparalleled sex drive. And if that’s not paranormal, I don’t know what is. Personally, I enjoy the ride.

Love feehan and she's done it again. The next brother must find his shadow rider and tame her to the life. A great book that brings you even more into this crazy world and family.

Sasha has had a hard time dealing with the changes in her life. Her parents are dead, and her brother requires full time care for a brain injury. She is working two jobs and living in Ferraro territory which means she is theirs. Giovanni Ferraro is miserable. Because of an injury, he can’t do his job, so the family has him distracted the media by playing the role of playboy. He hates it until the party gets him waited in by Sasha. This paranormal romance birders more on the line of erotica with an interesting twist. Shadow riders can disappear and ride the shadows to commit crimes or exact justice. Could Sasha be just what the Ferraro family has been waiting for?

I should really know by now not to request any more Christine Feehan books. I sufficiently enjoyed the first in the Shadow Riders series that I had higher hopes for the rest of the books. However, I couldn't even finish this one. Next time I see Feehan's name on a title, I'll definitely know to pass. DNF @ 25%

In this series, Ms. Feehan presents her readers with an elaborate fantasy that involves riding shadows wearing specially crafted clothes to dispense justice. To the world these dangerous and dedicated riders present a billionaire playboy façade with groupies hanging off their arms. True love is extremely rare and many have almost given up the hope of finding that one rare soul mate whose shadow will merge with their shadow making them complete. It was in one of Giovanni Ferraro's lowest moments that he's destined to meet his soul mate and that too as an employee working within his own club. Their path from that moment is far from smooth but...…….
Sasha is an innocent from the wilds of Wyoming who needs her job at the club to pay for the special treatment for her brother who suffered traumatic brain injuries in a car accident that killed their parents. Bowled over by Giovanni's charm, Sasha is determined to resist and maintain her independence even as she comes under direct attack by some of the rich patrons in the club followed by an obsessed stalker.
Someone is obsessed with Sasha or is someone looking for revenge against Giovanni? As the threat level against them rises the Ferraro family mobilizes to protect them and keep them safe. In this book we learn a lot more about the Ferraro siblings. The young girl Nicoletta who the Ferraro brothers rescued from sexual slavery is now coming off age and is a definite mate for one of the brothers, given all the tension between the two so far can't wait to see how that one plays out into a happily ever after. Then there's Emme, the only Ferraro sister and her romance with her Romeo and Juliet romance with her family's enemies. Finally the matriarch Eloise who continues to be a bull in a china shop alienating her son's beloved spouses.
Fair warning to fans a lot of this book is an erotic treatise of sexual interaction between Giovanni and Sasha as they play out various dominant games.

Feehan has refreshed the paranormal romance genre with this series. It's easy to see why she's at the top. New storylines, dark yet likeable characters, plotlines that intrigue and entice. My patrons can't get enough of her!

I LOVED SHADOW RIDER and I had a hard time getting into SHADOW REAPER, so I was very hesitant to read SHADOW KEEPER.

I will admit that Giovanni doesn't start out SHADOW KEEPER on the right foot. In fact, he was a total douche. The author tries to rationalize his behaviour, but really there isn't an excuse for it and I think this scene could have easily not been included and it would have made the book better. Looking past that Giovanni did grow on me. I liked Sasha from the moment she was introduced. She had her moments of irrational stubbornness that got herself and others in trouble, but I really enjoyed learning about her.

I absolutely love the Farraro family. I love their interactions and I love the way they support everyone. They are always such an integral part of each Shadows book and you can't help but root for each of them even when they aren't the main focus.

The stalker storyline of SHADOW KEEPER was both suspenseful and horrible at the same time. I couldn't imagine having to go through what the characters did in this book. The horror of knowing someone has been in your space and touched your things and is waiting for the perfect moment to do horrible things to you and those you love. Just horrible.

SHADOW KEEPER was a hit for me. I am once again excited to read what comes next.

4.5 stars---SHADOW KEEPER is the third instalment in Christine Feehan’s contemporary, adult SHADOW RIDERS erotic, paranormal romance series focusing on a species of humans- The Ferraro Family- that are able to ‘use and ride’ shadows, to move about in secret. This is Giovanni Ferraro, and cocktail waitress Sasha Provis’s story line. SHADOW KEEPER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

SOME BACKGROUND: The Shadow rider male must find his mate –a woman who is capable of riding the shadows-or at the very least with the ability to bear children with the shadow-riding gene. Within the family, the Ferraro siblings are tasked with finding a mate, fated by DNA, who is capable of continuing the family line.

Told from several third person perspectives including Sasha and Giovanni SHADOW KEEPER follows the building relationship between Giovanni Ferraro, and cocktail waitress Sasha Provis. To the public and the paparazzi Giovanni Ferraro is the family playboy, a role he despises since the shooting that left him unable to ‘ride the shadows’ but a role that keeps the spotlight away from the family business. Meeting Sasha Provis, the newest cocktail waitress at the family owned club, pulled at more than our hero’s heart but at their mutual shadows the began to intertwine. When several MMA fighters turned their attentions to Sasha Provis, Giovanni knew he had to protect the woman with whom he would fall in love. What ensues is the building and fated romance between Sasha and Giovanni, as the Ferraro family come together to protect one of their own.

Sasha Provis is a feisty, independent heroine who struggles to take care of her elder brother since the car accident that left him a shell of his former self. Alone but well aware of her surroundings Sasha and her shadow will cross paths with her future, a man as dangerous and powerful as he is beautiful. The relationship is intimate, erotic, intense and provocative. There is some light bondage and rope play.

All of Giovanni’s sibling play secondary and supporting roles, as well as a number of cousins, who use the shadows as they work for the family business, meting out justice for those unable to protect themselves. The Ferraro family is a tight-knit, fiercely protective family unwilling to risk the lives of the people they love including those under the protection in the Ferraro territory.

Christine Feehan does an incredible job creating the intricate, and secretive world of the ‘shadow riders’. The premise is intriguing, edgy and energetic; the characters are inspiring and colorful; the romance is seductive and dramatic. SHADOW KEEPER is an engaging, enjoyable and imaginative look at the paranormal.

I love Christine Feehan novels! She is the queen of mastering the right balance of sexual chemistry and suspense / action!  her latest release, Shadow Keeper, is no exception. I loved the entire book!

Sasha has dealt with a lot of love and loss in her life. I loved watching a character that could have easily folded and given up, strengthen her resolve and never give up. There is something magical about her. (No pun intended.) I was in awe of her resolve, and hope to carry a few lessons from her into my own life!

For all intents and purposes, Giovanni is the eternal bachelor, living the playboy lifestyle. But appearances can be deceiving, and I loved the fact we were able to get into Giovanni's head and see what he's really about. His undying, unyielding devotion to his family and Sasha was amazing to watch!

Sasha does everything she can to ward of the infamous playboy, but the heart wins out almost always, and definitely in this story. Watching the growth of their relationship, and the fierce protectiveness grow was beautiful! When they finally came together, the love and tenderness was a sight to see (or read) !

The action and suspense of this book had me hooked to my Kindle. I love trying to decipher clues and determine who did it, and this was no exception! It had me guessing until the end and the twist, and I was shocked when I figured it out! If you love a good romantic suspense, than this book is for you!

I loved seeing the heroines from previous novels grow and change as well. We got to revisit Stephano and Francesca from book one, and I loved seeing their love story continue and blossom even more! The way this family is so closed off, yet accepting of those they love and protect seems contradictory, but it works. It makes you love this family even more, and I can't wait to read the next book!

As the third book in the Shadow Rider series, Shadow Keeper, ventures more into the lives of the Ferraro siblings, readers get an insight and more information of the shadow world, potential couples, and past events. In Shadow Keeper we learn of the outcome of events that happened in previous book Shadow Reaper as we see Giovanni heal from his wounds while he encounters Sasha Provis, the shadow rider he was waiting for.

Fans of Feehan’s books know that her male characters are always shown strong and unbreakable, but once in a while we see a different side to them. Giovanni is the middle child among his brothers and he has been portrayed as the playboy/party boy in order to take the paparazzi off of his brother’s backs, but this time he shows his vulnerable side. He was previously wounded and can’t go into the shadows. Playing the bad boy is getting tiresome and he is slightly starting to fear that he wont find his lifemate like his brothers have. The reader gets an insight of how it feels for Giovanni to be someone he isn’t and the weight that brings him, so when Sasha comes along, he does a dumb thing and things don’t start out too good for both of them.

So far the shadow rider women have proven to be independent and strong female characters, and Sasha is no different. She is the soul provider for her family and she won’t let anyone stop her from taking care of the ones she loves. She has her mind set on priorities and life, always finding a way to overcome any obstacle. But one thing I loved about Sasha was her standing up to Giovanni’s mother, Sasha didn’t let Ferraro mama look down on her or hurt her with her words, which surprised even Giovanni. I was proud of Sasha 🙂 Sasha did have a difficult time believing that Giovanni cared for her, but in her defense, it was Giovanni’s fault. And of course, she isn’t shy about throwing a few punches. Sasha comes into Giovanni’s life when he most needs her.

Something that I liked about this book was all the minor/big details in the background, such as two couples that I can’t wait to read more about. First, we have Emmanuelle and Valentino, whom we’ve heard mentions of in the previous books, but this time it looks like whatever is going on between them, could harm them both. Then, we have Taviano and Nicoletta whose relationship seems rockier than the rest of the Ferraro siblings. And we’re still waiting for the oldest Ferraro brother to start having children of his own.

Shadow Keeper is the book among the series where I feel we have gotten more information on the family up until now. It shows us a different side of Giovanni and much he sacrifices for his family and his loved ones. It also gave us a great female character daring and brave. If you’re a fan of Christine Feehan, I recommend this book and series. And I especially love this series because it takes place in Chicago!

Memorable quotes:

“Enlighten us to what wisdom our parent passed on to you.” -Stefano.

“I think that’s called being kissed senseless. My brain short-circuited.” -Sasha

SHADOW KEEPER is an extreme disappointment after I enjoyed the previous books in the Shadow series. I'll admit that I found the other heroes in the Shadow series to be slightly over the top. But in an enjoyable way! Unfortunately, in SHADOW KEEPER, Giovanni was a very problematic character for me.

My biggest annoyance happened in the first few pages of the book - so you can check it out in the excerpt link above. The short version is: when Giovanni and Sasha meet, Giovanni basically sexually harasses Sasha while holding her wrist so she can't leave the conversation. Over the course of the book the author tries to rationalize this incident (and the events that led to that) for Sasha and the reader by saying that Giovanni was injured so he's frustrated with not being able to do his job, that he is sick of women just throwing themselves at him because he has money, and also that he's never done anything like that before. Honestly though, those things are no excuse. Giovanni is in a situation where he has power over Sasha and this kind of behavior is not something that should lead to a relationship!

I understand the difference between fantasy and reality, and I understand some people might find Giovanni sexy. But right now, in the political and social climate that we are in, I find that I wasn't able to forgive him for his behavior at the beginning of the book, no matter how good he was to Sasha later. If you read the excerpt and are willing to give Giovanni a chance, I think he does improve over the course of SHADOW KEEPER (though he's still pretty stubborn and controlling), and honestly, if him and Sasha had met in any other way, I would likely have had a very different opinion of this book.

Outside of that, there were some things that I enjoyed about SHADOW KEEPER. I liked the family dynamics between the members of the Ferraro family, and it was fun seeing them more. Sasha was awesome - she grew up on a cattle farm and was both physically and emotional strong, so I enjoyed reading about her, and it made the stalker plot line suspenseful and engaging, because I was invested in her character.

Ultimately, I was unable to get past Giovanni's behavior at the beginning SHADOW KEEPER, and that led to me being unable to believe Sasha would be happy with him in the long run. While I was disappointed in this installment in the Shadow series, I will likely give the series another chance, as I am interested in the other characters (who don't seem to be jerks like Giovanni). In the end though, I almost wish I hadn't read this one.

The third book in the Shadow Rider series is a fantastic read that I was unable to put down until I had read every last word.

This thrilling new paranormal world is full of wonderful characters that are strong, sexy and captivating, easily drawing readers in and holding them hostage until the very end. Giovanni and Sasha are the hero and heroine of Shadow Keeper and they have some strong sizzling chemistry that leaps off the pages and captures the reader’s attention from the get go. The romance is sweet but full of heated passion as well as emotional turbulence as Sasha is introduced to Giovanni’s world of secrets and danger, which means Giovanni has his work cut out for him as he tries to win her heart while keeping her safe.

This fast paced plot keeps readers on the edge with lots of thrilling danger that gets the adrenaline pumping and surprising twists and turns so that there is never a dull moment to be found. And to make it even more suspenseful, Giovanni must determine if he has been betrayed by one he trusted which adds to the emotional turmoil and the uncertainty facing this couple.

So far, I have to say that Christine Feehan has another spectacular series going. She makes all her worlds come alive for her readers as well as making all her wonderful characters vibrant and life like. I can always get lost in her stories and never doubt that I am going to love it, which is why I tend to read them over and over again. Each of her Shadow Riders stories have an intense feel to them and have some unique elements that make them different from other paranormal stories and I can’t wait to read the next one.

Giovanni is living the high life, fast cars and woman but little does everyone know that he is just trying to deflect eyes from the family business of Shadow Riding. Many would love to be in Giovanni’s shoes, but in Giovanni’s case, he hates the role he must personify. When he finally meets his perfect match, Sasha, all she sees is the playboy and not the man beneath. Its his job to convince her that she is his forever.

Sasha is from a ranch in Wyoming, coming to the city after her parents are killed and her brother is critically brain injured. Sasha brings her brother to a place where they can provide best care possible, but Sasha is barely keeping her head above water…working two jobs…and doesn’t have time for a playboy in her life.

I’ve loved the Shadow series from the start, it just works for me. Shadow Keeper just felt different from the past two installments but yet it still works for me :D. This is my favorite book so far in this series.

Sensual with a capital S, Shadow Keeper is a tantalizing, provocative, and flat out sexy mystery thriller all wrapped up in marvelous paranormal romance.

I received this ARC copy of Shadow Keeper from Berkley Publishing Group. This is my honest and voluntary review. Shadow Keeper is set for publication May 29, 2018.

So at RT in Las Vegas this year I met a fun person, Amy, who was jonesing for this book...  I went to the Feehan event because I had others who I know love her stories but after seeing the trailer and being around people who were so excited..  I knew I wanted to read this.  Imagine my surprise when it ended up being one of the books that Erin and the team at Berkley were nice enough to include in the bags they gave bloggers.  Amy also got lucky enough that Jo (Kindle Jo) had her copy and didn't need it so...  AMY SCORED ONE!  I have to say that still ranks as my favorite moment of the convention as the look on her face was priceless.

I went in to this with a slight bit of knowledge about the Shadow Riders but still wasn't sure if I'd enjoy this or not but I have to say I need book 2 NOW because this story drew me in and the fact that I want to know more about the rest of the family.  There is something seriously messed up with the way they were raised but there is such a strong sense of family that you can't help being curious about who will be their matches.  The good thing for people who get addicted is that there are branches of the family so my guess is that if this goes well there will be a lot of stories to tell.

Francesca was a strong character who was put in a bad spot and truly only wants to be safe.  She doesn't want to be beholden to anyone but I also adore that even when she gets the windfall from our hero she is stubborn enough to not want to use any of it.  I liked her strength and the fact that she does want to be her own person even as she is offered the world.  She's also such a generous soul who is so drawn to our hero even when he pulls his caveman stunts but calls him on it then understands it as she gets to know the real him.  I liked how she argued but she wasn't stupid and knew when to back down.  She doesn't run stupidly in to trouble which made me happy.

Stefano... dude he was such an ass at the beginning.  He is used to getting things his way and truly struggles with the fact that something he never thought would happen not only has happened but is happening to HIM.  He's not as huge of an ass as I thought initially because once you get to know him you'll understand why he is the way he is.  Does he have stalker tendencies?  Yes.  Would you be frightened if someone in real life behaved the way he does with her?  Oh HELL YES.  Did I still love his overbearing self at the end of the story?  Yep Yep Yep...  GIMME MORE...  He's sexy as hell and instantly devoted to his Francesca as soon as he senses her.  There is something about such a dominant man being brought to his knees by his finding the love of his life that just does it for me.  He's not a good man by traditional standards but is a good man in so many respects.  You'll understand when you find out the family business...

I can't wait for more stories from this series and look forward to reading all of them as soon as possible.

The third book in Feehan's Shadow Rider series, Shadow Keeper reminded me why I still read Christine Feehan's books. As hard as many of them are to get through thanks to poor (or no) editing, sometimes the characters are still worth the read. Giovanni and Sasha are great characters, with instant and believable chemistry between them that grabbed my interest from the beginning.

The Ferraro family seems to the outside world like a crime family of the rich and famous. Men resent them, women try to catch them for the money. Unsurprisingly, the Ferraros have grown more than a little jaded by the fortune hunters- and it becomes harder when they have to keep up the fast lane lifestyle to cover their true lives: Shadow riders who help mete out justice. Giovanni has been sidelined from riding the shadows thanks to an injury and this is the first book in the series that doesn't actually focus on the shadow-rider aspect of their lives, but on the more human and personal aspects (and costs). Sasha works at the nightclub the Ferraros own and believes Giovanni's playboy image. When he comes to her rescue at the club, she has to reevaluate what she thinks she knows- about him and herself. It was sweet to see Sasha, such an honest and straightforward person, in contrast to all the manipulative money hungry people around her. She doesn't come across as overly naive and Feehan does a good job of letting Sasha stay true to herself, but also giving her enough backbone to stand up to anyone in the Ferraro family.

Shadow Keeper was more enjoyable than many of Feehan's latest books. It was better written and focused, so I didn't have to skim through pages of the same thing over and over again. The mystery and threat of Sasha's stalker stayed front and center, and Feehan didn't let herself get too sidetracked. While Shadow Rider, the first book in the series, is still my favorite, I enjoyed Keeper. The importance of family and honesty is a dual theme woven throughout the book, and really speaks to the core of the entire series. A good book for paranormal romance readers to add to their to-be-read pile.

Giovanni Ferraro is the star of Shadow Keeper and is a deadly combination of sexiness, power, domination and danger. Giovanni is playing the playboy role since he’s been sidelined with injuries and is unable to ride the shadows. While doing what he is needed to for the family, he is out one night at the club, he finds the missing link that he has been missing- Sasha Provis . Sasha needs any and all the work she can get as a waitress; waitressing on the top tier with the high rollers can give her the tips to help take care of her brother’s care. She never expected while working on the high roller level was finding a man and of a love for her lifetime. Giovanni and Sasha’s first impression wasn’t good at first but that chemistry between them is insanely hot and Giovanni knows Sasha is the woman for him and does whatever is needed to make her his. When their encounter sets off a series of deadly events, they are bound together until it completely plays out, giving them lots of opportunity to kiss and make up… All I can say is the intrigue, mystery, danger, angst, tension, drama , intense passion and romance kick this storyline up like 10 notches. I loved Gio and Sasha. Their chemistry is hot, the FEELS that happen in this story and everything in between. I loved this rollercoaster ride of emotions. At the end, their love speaks volumes pretty clearly. This is a MUST READ!!
My Rating: 4.8 stars *****

Shadow Keeper continues the story of the Shadow Riders. These men and women can literally meld into the shadows! They can detect lies by crossing shadows with people. Its really unique and I love the world that Feehan has created with this series!

Sasha left the farm in Wyoming in order to get the best care possible for her brother. She is working 2 jobs to pay for his care facility but she would do anything for Sandlin. When she meets Giovanni, sparks fly. However, she doesn't have the best impression of the manwhore playboy. Giovanni isn't going to let that stand in his way. I liked that Giovanni wasn't really such a manwhore. It was a ruse created out of necessity and it was kind of brilliant in its simplicity. Before he can really get to know Sasha, they discover she has a super creepy stalker. This guy is deranged. It was ominous and really helped build the tension. However, the ending felt anticlimactic and a bit abrupt. All that lead up kind of fizzled.

I can't believe I am going to say this, but my biggest problem was the sex. I love the fated mates thing. That wasn't the problem. I struggle with how they went from strangers to kinky sex and how they had sex all the time. They didn't really talk about what was going on, they just had kinky sex with a few random comments about current events. I skimmed so many sex scenes. So many.

I loved the supporting characters and am really excited to continue reading about the Ferraro family. Feehan's Shadow Riders are fascinating and even with my issues in the book, I was totally caught up in this world of Shadow Keeper!
