aving the role of the wife comes in many forms but the one that is most prevalent and in today's culture not politically correct is that of the helper. I so much appreciated that this role is not a second class but one that is valued. As a helper, we play an important role the life of our husband. One of those is praying. Are your prayers for your husband general in nature? This text and guide will give you much to think about as you pray for your husband. The goal of any prayer is the glory of God and that in turns helps us to love our husbands well.
The text comes in two parts "The Mantle of a Wife's Prayer and Taking on the Mantle of Prayer.
The first part lays the foundation of the mantle that you are given and the second part leads you into prayer from all things character to the work your husband is in. His well being and all the responsibilities that come with being a husband and father.
If anything this reminds me how much my husband needs my prayers.
A Special Thank you to Harvest House Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
Prayers of Blessing over Your Husband was a helpful tool for knowing where to start when praying over your husband. This book would make a great bridal shower or wedding gift.
I couldn't even get past the first part of this book - I didn't see anything I could really relate to in my marriage or would even want to...I may try to read it again later but for right now I just kept having to put it down (again, and again, and again).
Powerful book on praying over your husband. We expect change but rarely pray about it. This book has prayers and tips on how to pray for him.
This book is meant for every Christian wife who wants to improve her marriage. I found the tone to be uplifting and inspiring, and I enjoyed the wise, honest stories from the author’s long marriage.
Bruce Wilkinson teaches that a wife’s prayers for her husband are powerful agents of change. I have read many valuable books on praying for your husband, and I found a unique perspective in this book. Wilkinson writes about the wife’s “mantle,” or her important responsibility to minister to her husband through prayer. As a wife you are gifted and equipped as a helper, just like Eve was for Adam. One of a wife’s primary, yet often undervalued, roles of helping is through prayer.
Wilkinson writes, "Her prayers to help her husband are in the very center of God’s will! Not only is God pleased, but He responds to her with His help."
This is very encouraging news for a wife who feels trapped in an unhappy marriage. I’ve been there before, and I know the transformative power of prayer in a difficult marriage. Prayer gives you an action step when nothing else seems to be working.
Wilkinson reveals five secrets behind the wife’s mantle, which changed my thinking. I now feel empowered in a new way to invite godly changes into our challenging marriage through the power of prayer.
I love this quote: "Wives are God’s human partner to help mature and maximize their husband[s]."
The second half of this book is chock full of prayer prompts for every imaginable area of your marriage and husband’s life. You will receive many calls to action in areas you probably haven’t considered before. That’s what makes this book so transformative, and the best part is it’s all biblically based.
I highly recommend this book to all wives, but especially wives struggling in a difficult marriage. There is hope for all our marriages, and the door to that hope is prayer.
Netgalley provided me a free preview copy of this helpful book.
A very informative book, that helps bring a couple closer through prayer. Prayer is a key element in our Christian lives, and the author brings out some very good insight on the role of the wife.
Prayers of Blessing over Your Husband by Bruce H. Wilkinson is a very good book. I recommend this book to my sister, my mom, and every wife. I can't stop reading this book! I am so grateful to have found this book. This book will teach you to pray more specifically and claiming the promises in God's Word for your husband.
In Prayers of Blessings over your Husband, author Bruce Wilkinson shares blessings he’s enjoyed and lessons he’s learned from his wife’s years of praying over him.
The book is well-written and educational. It offers insights any wife can use to bolster her husband and therefore strengthen her marriage and increase the joy in that relationship. This is a book to utilize from a position of strength. He makes the very valid point that instead of praying, “Change him God” we should pray “Bless him Lord” and a man showered with God’s blessings will naturally be a creature you want to live with and someone who is easy to love. Still you would need some pretty good communication in your relationship before you could implement many of the practices he promotes.
I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an impartial review. The copy I received was digital and I want to disclose that early-on because the format certainly colors my review.
I’m finding more and more that in non-fiction or reference books the digital format is difficult for me to use and enjoy. In a novel I read it front to back with very little flipping around. If I return to the book it’s usually to read it the same way again. However, in a non-fiction work like this I want to go back and reference certain parts of it – in the case of a prayer-topic I want to go to the secrets that this book disclosed and pray through them. However, it would take many minutes of page turning to find that section again. There is no table of contents where I might be quickly taken to a specific section. Of course I could manually bookmark those sections myself – like dog-earring a page but again that would require an investment of my time.
I can only give one overall rating of 3 stars, but I would really like to rate the content of the book at 4 stars and the digital formatting at 2 stars.
What the world needs now is prayer. The same goes for marriages. In a time when 50% of all marriages end in divorce, praying must be our first defense. This is a practical guide to get an wife started praying for her husband on a daily basis. I felt that just having the book helped me remember to dedicate the time and energy to the practice, a benefit in and of itself. Otherwise, it's well written and well intentioned. Recommend.
