I knew this book would be good for my soul. Rory's outlook on life is so uplifting and peaceful, even considering the recent past he's been through. His faith plays such a large role in his day to day life, and I can truly appreciate his outlook on the stories he shared with us. The farm that he lives at with his family sounds like a magical place, and I hope many generations of Feeks get to grow up there.
Would definitely recommend this book to anyone needing a pull at the heartstrings.
Like most of the world, I followed Rory and Joey's story as Joey fought cancer. I grieved with the rest of the world when Joey lost that fight and was called Home. Rory and Joey had a beautiful love story and a beautiful family. I love that her passing is not stopping Rory from continuing to celebrate their love and life. This book is a homage to their life on the farm before Joey passed and how their life is continuing on the farm after her death. Rory is a beautiful storyteller and I love how he is able to inject so many emotions into his writing. This is a beautiful tribute to his bride and how God has worked in his life. If like me the top three in your life are faith, family, and friends then this is the book for you! For me, Once Upon a Farm was ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars. Once Upon a Farm hits shelves June 19th! Thank you @thomasnelson for this advance reader in exchange for an honest review.
This was a sad yet uplifting book by Rory Feek of Rory and Joey fame, his second book sharing about his life. I was not aware of the story of this pair until it came out that Joey was dying of cancer, leaving behind a devoted husband and baby daughter. That was about all I knew then. This book really helped to fill in the story and then some, sharing their beautiful love story and their strong faith, and telling how Rory is now raising Indiana. An advance digital copy was provided by NetGalley, authors Rory Feek, and the publisher for my unbiased review.

Feek’s writing is straight from the heart. His writing is vulnerable as he shares his flaws and he is not afraid to share the bad right along with the good. Rory is a gifted story teller and this book is filled with beautiful stories of faith, love, family, hopes and dreams. A story about trusting God in and through all things. An inspirational and heart warming read.
Once Upon a Farm is a sweet, gentle book. Rory Feek shares life lessons and experiences from his life with his wife Joey, and reading it feels like sitting down and talking with a friend over coffee. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you, NetGalley, for sharing it with me. #OnceUponaFarm #NetGalley
My heart ached for Rory Feek when he lost his wife, Joey, to cancer. This book is a heartfelt tribute to Joey and the legacy that continues through her music and their daughters.
Rory writes in a manner that makes the reader feel as though you're chatting over coffee. It's this casual, everyday person appeal that was also a part of Joey and Rory's persona as an award winning musical duet. You sense the hope and courage throughout this lovely book. It's an inspirational read and I highly recommend it.
I received an Advance Review Copy. All opinions are my own.
This book written by Rory Feek is the story of love and life that developed on a small rural farm outside of Nashville. I haven't yet read the first book written by this author. Rory's love for his entire family is explored throughout this sweet farmhouse story. What makes a house a home? It is purely and simply the people and memories involved.
Through his journey Rory starts with his wife's last days and explores the mountain of grief that he had to overcome while raising his sweet Indiana. As he tells this story, he relives the purchase and remodeling of the farmhouse. With each chapter, the author builds a life and a home.
Faith in God is an important part of this family's journey. Each chapter reveals trials and lessons learned in this crazy thing we call life, once upon a farm.
I enjoyed this story. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this.
I loved this book so much! Rory Feek writes with so much love and feeling, which makes any story he’s telling irresistible. He’s completely honest about the way he looks at life, including those in his life. He speaks honestly about his own flaws and the things he is working on changing. Even the saddest story ends with hope. I would read this one again sometime soon.
This book is great for current Feek fans. Since this was my first intro to the Feek family, it wasn't my favorite book. It includes a large number of short stories about their family and faith. It is well written and sentimental - sure to please fans of the Feek family.
This book has really made me think of how blessed Rory was to be married to Joey! The book made me also feel blessed and made me think of how it has been with losing a loved one but overcoming the sadness! This book was absolutely incredible and I am happy that I was able to read it! I couldn’t put it down!
Another great book by Rory. Thanks for sharing your life with us and being so candid about your struggles. This book will help fans keep Joey in their hearts and will bring healing to others who have lost a loved one and have to go on.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read this kindle version of this book in turn for an honest review. I didn’t know much about Rory and Joey Feek other than the fact they were singers and she had passed away. This book is a sweet heart warming book about a man who loves his dear wife so much and wants to continue raising his daughter just like she would have wanted. He lets us into his life and it makes one rethink how much we are really living according to what God wants for our lives.
I had no idea who Rory Feek was until a couple years ago when he became, as he says, "famous for loving my wife". I read his blog about holding on to her while also slowly letting her go and I was stunned by the power conveyed through his writing. It was no surprise to me then to learn he's a professional songwriter and that his storytelling has taken many forms through the years.
Once Upon a Farm is written in the same format found on his blog so it pulled me in at once with his conversational writing. This book is a compilation of musings on the most important roles in his life as a father and husband, as well as the story of how their farm came to be and what it means to him.
Feek is a dreamer who manages to make so many of his dreams a reality with his belief system, hard work, and quiet determination. He isn't afraid to share his beliefs or his flaws on the page and lift up the people he loves without judgment.
I appreciate his unflinching honesty and willingness to share his life and faith with others. The straightforward writing style pulled me back in to Feek's story to capture my attention and my heart all over again.
I can’t give this any less than 5 stars. Once Upon a Farm is beautifully written.
I don’t listen to gospel music, and I didn’t know who Rory and Joey Feek were when I first read their story on social media a few years ago. At the time, Joey Feek had just had a baby, Indiana, with Down Syndrome, and had recently learned that the cervical cancer she had previously treated was back and aggressive. From then on, I followed Joey and Rory, inspired by their love for each other and for their daughter. Sadly, Joey has since passed away. I bought Rory’s first book about his love story with Joey, but I haven’t made the time to read it. When I saw he had a new book out, I made time for this one.
Once Upon a Farm is an homage to Joey, and I think the first book is a love letter to her. This one expands on the life they made together at their farm, and the story is about life for Rory and Indiana after Joey has passed away. Rory does many things on the farm, learns lessons, teaches his daughter, finds hope in unlikely places, and restores his faith. He speaks from the heart, and his words made me both laugh and cry, sometimes at the same time.
Rory Feek is a simple man with a huge heart and an immense and inspiring capacity for love of life.
Thank you to Rory Feek, Thomas Nelson, and Netgalley for the ARC. Once Upon a Farm will be available on June 19, 2018.
I traveled the journey of Rory and Joey on his blog site for years. I cried when Joey passed away. I watched Indy grow up on pages. This is a outstanding book penned by Rory. He is an amazing writer and storyteller. I continue to follow his blog....and I am honored to have read his story ONCE UPON A FARM. This book is full of love, inspiration, hope, heartbreak and joy. Thank you for sharing your life w/ us, Rory.
A beautifully written hodgepodge of stories by Rory Feek, about his late wife Joey and their family. Have a box of tissues ready when you read this.
5 Stars !
I received this ARC through Netgalley for a honest review.
I received this book "Once Upon a Farm" from Netgalley for my honest review.
I knew a little bit about what happened with Joey and Rory so I thought this book would be interesting. I saw them on "Can You Duet" show. The story is about his life on the farm and raising his daughter Indiana. This book is a detailed story about life on the farm and before. As they say - You never know where life is going to lead you.
This is an honest and inspiring book about one man's journey through life. It gave me hope and reminded me that God is still in control and has great plans for each of us.
A well written and detailed book about life on the farm after the death of his wife. Raising a 4 year old, and having two older daughters in and out of his life (obviously life elsewhere), is the backbone of this book. I like the written voice, and feel like I am in the room while he is telling stories here and there. There is a natural progression, but each chapter is another story he is telling the reader. I know very little about him and his wife except for the sad bits that were shared on the news during her last year. I have also not read the previous book, so perhaps would have made more sense on some of the details here in this one. Still overall, I enjoyed this book, and would highly recommend this sweet story. Great read.
Well written. Real life. Family.. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, Heartwarming and heartbreaking all at the same time.. An honest look at life after the death of someone so very loved and their impact on life ongoing. Definitely worth reading.
