I LOVED "The Devil Wears Prada", semi-liked "Revenge Wears Prada". I love love love "When Life Gives You Lululemons"! Emily is such a great character, and this book was just amazing. Definitely my favorite of the trilogy so far. A fantastic "beach read", or a fantastic anywhere you want to be reading read.
Thank you for this book. It is a great beach read. Enjoyed the character development. Did not want the story to end. Enjoyed the real life references, made me laugh many times!
An awesomely entertaining read about the unbelievably wealthy women who inhabit the ultra exclusive neighborhoods of Greenwich CT. It's a heartwarming story of 3 solid friends taking care of each other. The insight into the insane lives and cosmetic procedures of these women makes for a great read!
This book was a delicious read and a perfect beach novel. I loved it from the first page to the last, and was sorry when it ended. My thanks to NetGalley for providing this novel in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you Simon & Schuster And Netgalley for the free review copy!
I loved The Devil Wears Prada when it came out, and I was so excited about this sequel! Emily still has her attitude, but she’s definitely softened a bit with age. I love the addition of the new characters as well, Miriam - a high powered lawyer turned Stay-at-home Mom was the most relatable to me.
If you liked The Devil Wears Prada, I think you’ll really enjoy this sequel! It’s a perfect summer read!
When Life Gives You Lululemons, was the first novel I have read by Lauren Weisberger, and to be honest, I didn't realise it was part of The Devil Wears Prada series, until the first mention of Miranda Priestly. For those wondering, not reading the other books of the series The Devil Wears Prada and Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns, did not impact my reading experience in the slightest and I thoroughly enjoyed When Life Gives You Lululemons as a stand alone book.
After Karolina Hartwell (Face of L'Oreal/Supermodel turned suburban step-mum and senator's wife) is set-up for a DUI by a husband that has too much power and a wandering eye, her old friend Miriam (NYC lawyer turned lululemon wearing mom in uber-wealthy Connecticut suburbia) gets in touch to help. Little does she realize Emily Charlton (image consultant with a career in free-fall, who does not "do" the suburbs) will be along for the ride.
This was a fun, lighthearted summer read that explores the power of women when the band together to achieve a common goal. If you enjoy Liane Moriarty, Jojo Moyes or David Nicholls you'd like this one. I will definitely be seeking out more novels by Lauren Weisberger, so watch this space for more reviews!

If you were a fan of The Devil Wears Prada, get ready to devour this book. When Life Gives You Lululemons follows Emily Charlton, Miranda Priestly's former assistant, Miriam, a New York attorney who has traded in her job for suburban mom life, and Karolina, a former VS model turned Senator's wife. All three women find themselves living in Greenwich, CT for different reasons, yet their situations bond them together in a way. Emily feels like her career as a celebrity image consultant is failing, Miriam is still struggling to find herself in this new SoulCycle loving, Gin & Tonic drinking, Lululemon wearing suburb, and Karolina is working out the fact that she just got a DUI and has a failing marriage. This book is the perfect amount of snarky, witty, and real. I have been a fan of Laura Weisberger since The Devil Wears Prada, so I was thrilled to have some of the gang back in this entertaining book! This was a quick, easy read and would be the perfect book to pack in your beach bag this summer.
When Life Gives You Lululemons was written by Lauren Weisberger. This is a spinoff to her wildly popular novel, The Devil Wears Prada. I must admit, I didn’t even remember that there was a sequel to The Devil Wears Prada, but I was excited about this spinoff because I was looking forward to a relatively light and fun “beach read”.
Fans of The Devil Wears Prada will remember Emily as Miranda Priestly’s assistant. She has moved on from that part of her life, and she now works as an image consultant. She’s going through a rough patch with work, and ends up in Greenwich, visiting Miriam- an old friend from summer camp.
Emily meets Karolina through Miriam. Karolina is a former supermodel who married to a senator. As the story begins, Karolina is pulled over by the police and accused of driving drunk with children in the car. But the champagne bottles rolling around in the back aren’t hers, and even though she begs for a Breathalyzer or a blood test, her request is ignored. Her husband cuts her off from, and she’s left to rusticate in Greenwich.
Emily agrees to help Karolina, and with Miriam’s input, they formulate a plan to change the country’s perception of Karolina- this is not going to be easy, but Emily believes Karolina’s assertions that she would never drink and drive. As the story plays out on the national stage, the three ladies are determined to tell the truth.
This was such a fun book with lots of melodramatic situations. The plot moves fairly quickly, and there are always new developments. The story unfolds from all three women’s points of view, and I think this adds depth to the narrative since each of the characters lives a very different life.
I would absolutely recommend When Life Gives You Lululemons to anyone who is looking for some light reading this summer. I enjoyed reading this book quite a bit. I found it to be surprisingly introspective for a “beach read” as each character contemplates what she is doing with her life, and if she needs any changes. By the end of the book, there was clear resolution for everyone, with no loose plot ends left dangling. This is a book that I’ll go back to in the future when I’m looking for a lighthearted read.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
gossipy mash up of Real Housewives and SATC. Fans of the series will not be disappointed. The characters are well developed and it's easy to care for them and their situations. The dialogue is snappy and flows. The pitch of satire Is just enough when it comes to suburbia placement. Fun to read.

It has been a number of years since I read The Devil Wear Prada, but returning to Emily Charlton is like returning to an old friend. It was easy to get into the rhythm of her character. The author does a good job introducing us to the new characters as well. I find often with books told from multiple perspectives it can be difficult to really get to know each character, but Lauren Weisberger manages this very well.
When Life Gives You Lululemons is a fun read that I didn't want to put down. While the life thee women lead is perhaps a bit more glamorous than mine, their experiences felt so relatable. This is a great book to read by the pool or beach this summer. While it deals with some real serious circumstances, Weisberger's storytelling keeps it from being too heavy.
The only thing that kept me from giving this book 5 stars was the ending. I wish Weisberger had maybe gone with a less conventional choice for Emily's character just to provide a different life perspective.
--->Can we PLEASE get this book made into a movie?!?!?! And a book about Alistair would be fabulous! THAT's ALL

I immediately understood the title and the book as I live in an upper class suburbia where all the moms (including myself) are typically found in our Lululemons! BUT this book delves deeper into mommy hood in one of the most upper crust societies in America and what happens to a scorned and scandalized housewife...

I love a juicy political scandal and once I hit the third or fourth chapter the book would not leave my hands! Well my kindle to be politically correct. If you are a fan of The Devil Wears Prada book and/or movie then you will thoroughly enjoy this book. Its full of humor, wit, mommy hood, married without children, suburbia, the importance of 'mommy juice', and FRIENDSHIP! I really enjoyed this book and all the characters.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an eARC of this book.
Oh my! What a disappointing waste of time. Chick lit at its worse. Since it was not even that entertaining, I have a hard time coming up with a good reason to read it. Save your time.
So this is the third book in the Prada series. I have read the previous two books and this book focuses on Emily. Andy gets a very brief mention and Miranda does pop up a few times but otherwise, this is just Emily's story. I felt that Emily did not live up to her sarcastic, yet lovable, demeanor that was present in the first book. The other 2 main characters seemed to be there just to give Emily something to "do". If you are looking for a good summer beach read, this would be a good option. It is a quick read and it will keep you entertained but it lacks the oomph that the first novel had.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley.
I wasn't expecting much from this book. I enjoyed The Devil Wears Prada, but I hated Revenge Wears Prada. Like "one of the top 3 worst books I've read" hated. This book is an improvement but I still can't say I liked it much. The characters are standard stereotypical rich white women who hang out with other rich white women. Lululemon is mentioned so frequently I figure Weisberger has some kind of deal with them. I get it, it's in the title of the book, I don't need to be beat over the head with it. And here's a fun drinking game - take a shot everytime the author writes about one of the women leering over a younger man. Now ask yourself if you'd enjoy reading about men leering over young women in a similar fashion, over and over. I'm not overly sensitive about this kind of thing but I found myself rolling my eyes.
On one hand, I don't want to be too harsh on this book. It's not meant to be great literature, just entertaining. But entertaining, light fiction can be much smarter than this
Thank you to Simon & Schuster and Netgalley for proving an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
When Life Gives You Lululemons was a juicy read delivering all the things I craved. A look into friendships, womanhood and motherhood. I was unable to put this book down and zoomed right through it. I loved the perspective of each leading character (Emily, Miriam and Karolina) and their unique takes on where their lives are and how they are coping with the challenges thrown at them. Each heartache: Emily's seemingly failing career, Karolina's alcoholic/marriage scandal and Miriam's battle with accepting her new life as a SAHM was presented in such a needed light hearted way. This perfect summer read delivered just the right amount of rich girl problems, gossip and girl power wrapped all in one. It kept the elements we all know and love from the Devil Wears Prada (I think we can all appreciate a little Miranda Priestly making an appearance). You will get a ton of laugh out loud moments. Pick up a copy!
Even though this is a 3rd in a series, it is a stand alone book. I loved the characters. Fast read, very funny. Great ending.
Of all of the recent novels by Lauren Weisberger, this was the most enjoyable! Of course, nothing will top the original Devil Wears Prada, but popping back into former senior assistant Emily's life after Runway was really enjoyable.
Emily's signature sarcasm and wit are still intact as she takes on a new client, Karolina, who is in the midst of a very public DUI scandal. Together with the woman that brought them together. Miriam. the three women battle their own personal problems and work to balance their own lives from the suburbs, where they all thought they would never end up.
Overall, this was a good summer read and I'm glad I decided to pick it up. After being disappointed by (and not finishing) Weisberger's recent The Singles Game and Revenge Wears Prada, I'm glad to say that I enjoyed When Life Gives You Lululemons!
I loved this book. It made me laugh often and is the perfect book to read this summer. If you haven't read the other books in the Devil Wears Prada series, don't worry, this is great as a stand alone.
An easy, breezy sequel to Devil Wears Prada - the very definition of a beach read. No Pulitzers here, but it's well-written and fun and the perfect kick-off to summer!
Another great read by Lauren Weisberger. Loved the characters and current event connections. Picturing Emily as portrayed by Emily Blunt in the motion picture added to the reading enjoyment.
