Emotional romance…

Jenna had loved Curt for what was almost her entire life. When they came together again, and again, there were so many chances to get it right. Too bad emotions kept getting in the way…

I’ve loved this author’s stories for years. Covering a number of romance sub-genres at the heart of each read is always people. Their foibles, their strengths. Their ability to overcome and forgive. I haven’t read a lot of this series though I’ve devoured the Haven books like cotton candy. I have been avoiding BDSM lately but I couldn’t resist Jenna and Curt’s story…

And I’m so glad I dived in! This was a whirlwind with new characters to enjoy and much-loved ones to savour. Getting a chance to reconnect with Haven folks was great as they reminded me why
I loved their stories so much. A re-read is definitely coming up! This author knows how to convey emotion and the complicated things that are family and love.

If you haven’t read Haven I suggest you do because this story will be even better!

All Jenna wanted was to help people. That’s why she went to medical school. Why she joined Doctors Without Borders. She knew she could make a difference ...until the day her world is ripped apart. Curt Nolan didn't feel hope any more. He didn't feel much of anything. The only thing that got him out of bed was his job at Black-Gray Investigations. Until he is hired to rescue Jenna. She’s everything he isn’t. Good, kind, sweet. And when he realizes the danger to Jenna isn’t over, Curt knows he’ll do whatever is necessary to protect her.
This was not a bad read. I read it pretty quickly. The sex scenes weren’t quite at hot as I was hoping, but ehh. It uses a very familiar trope that started when the female was VERY young. I’m still not quite sure how I feel about that one. I’m probably going to read more from this author though.
**I voluntarily read and reviewed this book

I must say that this is one of my favorite stories so far in the Doms of Decadence series. I loved Jenna! And I appreciated how realistically her anxiety and other issues were dealt with after her tragic ordeal in Sudan.

Curt certainly doesn’t make himself much of a sympathetic character, at least not during the current time period. Not only does he reject Jenna at one point, but he does so in a particularly cruel manner, and right after she’s opened up to him about some of the trauma with which she has been dealing, no less. Although tiny glimpses of his true soft-hearted self do occasionally peak through, like when he brought Sergeant Teddy to Jenna upon her rescue from the terrorists.

Watching these two finally come together and then slowly start to form a caring and trusting relationship is nice to see. As usual, the peripheral characters in the story are interesting as well, the side stories entertaining, and the dialogue often cheeky and fun.

Some of the BDSM elements are a bit over the top for me, but nothing too extreme; and the love scenes are definitely hot. There are also a couple of incongruencies in the timeline of the story, but other than that this is a sizzling, well plotted, endearing and entertaining read.

The blurb sounded amazing, but unfortunately the book fell very short for me. While the idea behind it was different and intriguing I struggled with Jenna.

The book opens with a flashback of the "relationship" between Jenna and Curt. One that is built on a significant age difference and almost a brother/sister protection. Fast forward a number of years, Jenna is now all grown up and Curt is dealing with incredible heartbreak after the death of his wife (Jenna's cousin). Jenna is overseas with Doctor's without borders when the unbelievable brings Curt back into her life. Then we again fast forward until Jenna is in danger yet again when Curt comes back into her life this time to reveal what really happened when she was kidnapped.

All sounds interesting right?

Well, at some point during this story Jenna becomes this weak little woman who can't do anything for herself. It's as if when she found out that Curt was into BDSM and decided to explore it further, her entire being became a sub. She lost the person she was and was only focused on pleasing Curt. I hated how dependent and weak she suddenly became. It didn't fit with the character that had been developed up until that point.

A very sexy book with danger & suspense to keep you turning the page! I've read a few from this series and loved them all. They can be written as a stand alone. Great read!

Very good book. I like the characters and how the develop throughout the story. It's one of the better bdsm stories I have read in a long time.

Another fabulously hot BDSM romance by Ms. Roberts. She had done a great job with Jenna and Curt's story. Good solid plot. Enjoyed

I do love that this series is very serious about the issue of consent and the stories are all guaranteed a happy ending (pun intended).

In this book, Jenna suffers some pretty horrific traumas when she's out in Sudan with the Doctors Without Borders organisation. Thankfully, she has a knight in shining armour on hand available to save her and bring her home.

This book revolves a lot more around emotions and PTSD than I expected, the fuzzy emotions are really sweet but I found that there was quite a lot of suspension of disbelief required to get on board with the main characters wanting to get naked most of the time. As a rule, enormous psychological trauma is not sexy.

What I did really enjoy though was that Jenna never gives up on her career as a doctor and she ends up in a small Texan town called Haven, where we meet with some of the characters from that series (I've never read them but I can spot a reference when I see one!) and she finds her community.
All of the characters are strong, the men are incredibly protective (annoyingly so in many cases) and are obsessed with defending the womenfolk - great if that's your jam but a bit oppressive if not.

After reading this, I seem to be working backwards through the series and will probably branch out into other series by this author so that tells you all you need to know!

Didn't find this that enjoyable despite the plot and premise feeling me in.

A delightfully sinful romp through the world of BDSM. Would make a great addition to a library's eBook collection.

This was my first Laylah Roberts read and of course the first in the series I've read. However, it wasn't necessary to read the other books in the series before this one, although it would have helped in keeping the men straight since there were so many to remember...

This was a great read and I thoroughly enjoyed the balance of suspense, love and heat. I particularly loved the beginning of the book - seeing little Jenna interact with an older Curt was absolutely adorable and really drew me into the book right off from the start.

But things are not so pretty after the prologue. We're taken to the moment where Jenna is being held captive in Sudan after some terrible things took place around here. It was heartbreaking to hear of what she endured and saw happen - I can't even imagine and it was all senseless. She thinks she's going to die there, but of course, Curt comes to her rescue (with some help) and he brings her back home. But then he goes and screws things up and they don't see each other for a while.

When they see each other again, it's because something bad has happened once again and Jenna is about to get some bad news that will send them on a journey to find the truth, who kidnapped her in Sudan and of course develop their budding relationship. But again, Curt is an idiot and seems to always say and do the wrong things. This pretty much goes on for half the book before he finally listens to Trevor and tones his harshness down a bit. The first half is full of sexual tension, but neither want to act on it, rinse and repeat.

Eventually, they get things worked out and Curt being the demanding guy he is becomes Jenna's lover and Dom. I was honestly a bit disappointed in the BDSM aspect of the book. Up until the epilogue, the BDSM was pretty basic and boring (it's super hot in the epilogue though). I expected more and was let down, but maybe that's just because I prefer BDSM-themed books to be a bit more daring and not so vanilla. And given the title of the book and series, it just seemed watered down for the genre.

Ignoring all that, the plot is great. I was left surprised and wondering what would happen next every time I turned around, which is probably why I read this one so quickly - I just didn't want to put it down. If there was one part of the plot that I didn't like, it was how things went down with the villain in the end. There was such a build-up until that point that it was boring and disappointing when we get the resolution of the situation.

Oh and I really loved the town of Haven!

I'll go back and read the previous books though and really hope that Trevor gets a book next since I really liked him.

I really liked this read! Curt has been hired to rescue Jenna but he receives so much more. This is a fast-paced read with lots of drama. The chemistry is hot and steamy but it also has a sweet side. A good read!

I strongly suspect that had I read the first 7 books the rating would have been higher as I tend to get attached to series and my rating reflects emotional attachments as well as quality.

Despite having BDSM scenes and some violence this book was surprisingly sweet. A bit too much for me in fact. I debated giving it an extra 0.5 stars but in the end I couldn't justify it to myself and it just didn't feel like a 3.5 read. I know that I can't expect realistic romances, in fact it would be counterproductive to be too realistic, but having a crush on someone since basically a toddler and still having a crush on them some 20 years later is way too unrealistic. I don't even remember the name of my fist crush even though he still lives a couple of floors up in my old apartment building and I visit the place once an year. I'm sure that during those visits I've run into him numerous times but I don't even recognise him anymore yet alone have feelings for him. So for Jenna to still carry a torch for Curt after all these years, especially after years of not seeing him is unlikely. Add to that the age difference and it makes it even more unlikely. You know what would be more realistic and would work perfectly with the rest of the plot, her developing feelings for her after he <spoiler>rescues her from Sudan</spoiler>. I suppose that in a way that's what happened in the book but she kept thinking about him even before <spoiler>he showed up</spoiler> so maybe not.

The unlikeliness of the romantic development and the choppy transitions between some of the scenes and the POVs detracted from an otherwise enjoyable read. The first couple of sex scenes were a bit lackluster but the last scene was really well done. For that alone <i>To Save Sir</i> was worth reading. I even think I'll read some of the other books in the series. There seem to be some very interesting characters populating this world.

A good book to reconnect with sexual fantasies, definitely not too hot for me but has some story that I enjoy. For those who want more sex scenes, this sadly is not it. It does have really hot, steamy and lusty love making, but concentrates on the back of the book rather than spread out evenly. Overall, worth a recommend!
Jenna and Curt too forever to get to the point that I was waiting for, but it was well worth the wait. The story is solid and the sex is... explosive.

An intriguing, action packed book.
Romance, Dom's, bdsm, adventure and sizzling hot.
Wow, what more could a girl want.

To Save Sir reads well although it starts slow and is confusing in some places it gives a good story that is well worth the price. If you like some exotic action to go with you erotic romance this should satisfy you. The intense
bondage and sexual domination is not only pleasant but it is done with a finesse that is both well written and enjoyable.

I really liked this book. Having not read any of this authors books previously, saying that I THOROUGHLY enjoyed this book. These characters are strong and feisty. I have a really good inclination that I will go and start at the beginning of this series. ;). This book was awesome and well written. It didn't feel rushed and each character has its place. Haven,Texas is a town filled with aggressive beautiful ALPHA males and really? What's not to love! It is suspenseful and you don't feel like the female in the read is whiney and dumb. LOVED IT!! Definitely a must read!! I didn't start reading this series in the first book and I didn't feel at a loss because I didn't. Honestly that really makes me want to read the other books in this series more! Loved it!!

I received this ARC from the publisher via Net Galley for my honest review. Thank you Net Galley!!

A very emotional read. Great storyline and surprising plot. Character are very well described and develops nicely. I like the use of words that kept me on the edge. Very captivating from start to finish. The hint of kink is very well written. The story has drama, heartbreak, action, betrayal, secrets, passion, possessiveness and unexpected twists. Story about taking what you desire and what attracts you. To let yourself have your HEA with the one you cannot let go.

I like that the characters from previous books in this series is also in this story. That gives it all an update. But the book can be read as a standalone.
