Sizzling hot...HOLY S**T!!! I was not expecting this book to be such a marvelous piece of literature. The connection between Curt and Jenna was felt from the first sentence of the book, The suspense was another great element to the piece. Absolutely can't wait to see what else Laylah has to offer!!!
ARC received for review
Hi, it's me who hasn't read the first six books or the companion series (Haven,Texas). All the names and couples got a little confusing at first but I didn't need to read their HEAs to enjoy this one.
Jenna and Curt have known each other all their lives (since she was 3) with him being significantly older than her. She's loved him forever, even when he married someone else. Took Curt a while after they reunited since he had to pull his head out of his arse and admit his feelings for her.
Now did the Brit really die? And what's with this stupid title...it made no sense with the book.
To Save Sir by Laylah Roberts is book Seven "Doms of Decadence" series. This is the story of Jenna and Curt. I haven't yet read the previous book so for me this was a standalone book. Jenna joined "Doctors Without Borders" but that leads her to need help. Curt has a troubled past where the only thing he seems to care about is his job working for Black-Gray Investigations. When he is hired to save Jenna opens him up to saving himself too.
Enjoyed their story!
When I read the blurb, I was hoping it was more of a 50 Shades of Grey type of romance. Sadly, it was not. While I liked how Jenna and Curt had a backstory throughout their youth, there was a definite ick factor for me in that Curt was married to Jenna's cousin. Also, the whole ending part at the BDSM club was not to my taste (I don't want to give spoilers). Plus, I didn't really see how Curt made the jump from having a friendship with Jenna when she was a kid to having romantic feelings for her. It just seemed like there was this jump in feelings for him and no reason was given. That being said, I would not recommend this read.
I promised a fair and honest review and here it is. Firstly, I would describe this as more action than romance/BDSM. It is hinted at throughout but doesn't really get into it until quite late in the book. It is, however, well written and a good action story line.
I received an arc from Netgalley. This was an emotional and captivating romance. The storyline kept me interested all the way through.
Sexy smart BDSM romance
I've enjoyed Laylah Roberts' Doms of Decadence series very much and To Save Sir is a great addition.
I enjoyed seeing how Jenna and Curt's relationship morphed from Jenna's childlike expectations to real adult life. I thought they were well fleshed out characters and that the plot was solid. I enjoyed the secondary characters many who were crossovers from her other series.
It looks like the next book may feature Travis, I can hardly wait.
I received an advance reader copy from Netgalley.
