This is the first book I've read by Eden Summers and I enjoyed it. It was a great late night read! Short and sweet 😉 ---3.8 stars---

Things I like:

Hunter! The man is sure of himself and whenever you are reading a bad boy/mafia/etc type of book that is a must. So in that sense it delivered.

Sarah was a great main character. Well developed and well written. She is a tough strong woman but also one that needs and lacks love. I felt for her and loved her bravery.

The book was fast paced and had all you could hope for: romance, drama, secrets, revenge, passion... It had a great plot.

Things I didn't think were great:

Also Hunter. There was no character development really... by the end of the book I felt I knew as much about him as I did when he first showed up. How did he get into the business of killing people? how come his relationship with his boss is such a close one? Are they family? like family? The guy is a mystery, which is part of the charm but it is also part of the reason it will be eventually forgotten.

The narrative to start felt a little chopped. The sentences were to short and the story therefore didn't always flow naturally.

All in all not a bad romance and one worth giving it a try! I am glad I requested it.

Captain’s Log. Stardate 95754.27. It’s been a tough day at Edgy Reviews. An ARC was dangled in front of me with a synopsis that promised a strong heroine. One who was badass. Could take care of business. She was bent on a quest for revenge. Vengeance. She had been wronged. This was like dangling chocolate in front of a PMSing woman. I could not help myself. The temptation too great. Unfortunately, like most temptations, I should have walked on by. Passed it up. Just said no.

“I was happy once. Loving. Optimistic.”

This heroine was an overdramatic mess who was all over the place. A disaster of epic proportion. And the phrasing…Wow! I’m all for adding a dramatic emphasis here and there. But it was everywhere. At first, it was just eyebrow-raising. A curiosity. A bit of an annoyance. But then it took a turn for the worse. I was hovering dangerously close to DNF territory. Thinking of throwing in the towel. Becoming a quitter. But I’ve already DNF’d 4 books this year and I was determined to see Hunter through to the bitter end. Plus, with this being a revenge plot, I thought surely this would improve.

“He’s never been more masculine. More fascinating. Alluring.”

But the constant influx of overly dramatic phrasing was making it tough. Others may like this writing style but it’s like my kryptonite (Yes, I know. Wrong show but whatever. It fits). It wouldn’t let up. It just kept on and on. It was battering my soul with its melodramatic excesses. I was about to break my promise of finishing but then it dawned on me what this outpouring of overly emotional prose reminded me of…Star Trek! Specifically Captain James Tiberius Kirk.

“All those people who will mourn a depraved man. All the tears. All that misplaced heartache.”

I found the one thing that would pull this out of the ditch for me. Save it. Make it sing to my downtrodden soul. Or at least make it funny enough to continue. My magical, fix it all elixir was imagining William Shatner narrating the book. Suddenly, instead of cringing each time, I found myself smiling. Laughing. Giggling even. I was even reciting lines to my extremely amused husband. Crisis averted.

“So many conflicting aspects. A fucking kaleidoscope.”

When the heroine finds out she accidentally killed someone I had Deforest Kelley whispering in my ear, “He’s dead, Jim.” When a plot hole showed itself (and there were plenty), I could hear Spock telling me “That is illogical.” When the heroine lost her cookies, I heard Chekov saying “I think I’m going to get space sick” in his matter of fact way. Trust me, in my head, this was all kinds of funny. Hilarious even. Slapstick at its best.

Captain’s Log, supplement. Things looked bleak for awhile, but the crew learned an important lesson. Humor can be used as a tool to make dramatic heroines and plot holes entertaining.
With that, my mission is complete.

Rating: 2.5 Captain Kirk-Ism Stars

This is not a light read. It's not a feel-good romance. You won't be saying "awww" at any point. Instead, you're more likely to cringe, gasp, blush, stomp your feet, and possibly even spontaneously combust, so watch out. No matter your physical reaction, you'll be mentally and emotionally hooked by this deep, raw, fast-paced story starring Luke (Hunter) and Sarah (Emma/Steph) as they traipse through their demon-filled lives and navigate their feelings for each other. I don't like overly angsty books, and on the surface, this seems like it would be one, but it's not. It has angst, sure, but it doesn't get hung up on it, and the angst doesn't stick with you as you read. What sticks with you is the heat, the chemistry, the so-damn-sexy hero, and the put-up-with-no-crap heroine. This is the first book I've read by Ms. Summers, and holy crap, I can't wait to read more.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an ARC for review.

This fantastic, action-packed, suspense filled romance features Hunter and Steph a.k.a. Sarah. There are twists and turns on top of twists and turns. This is definitely no hearts and flowers romance. The chemistry between Hunter and Sarah was intense and real. It’s the kind you don’t want because you know it’ll change your ENTIRE life but can’t help wanting it at the same time. There were moments that left me with my mouth hanging wide-open and moments that truly broke my heart.

This is definitely a MUST READ! The story line has you on the edge of your seat from cover to cover. ALL of the characters are amazing! I can’t wait to see what’s next for this amazingly talented author.

A story that captivates you from the first to last page. Very well written with well described characters that develops nicely.
A story that has a lot in it. Lies, drama, action, secrets, passion, twists, revenge, betrayal and hot steamy scenes.
The story is very real and raw in the way it is written. Many romance stories are very predictable but this surprised me because it was not.
The story is written in dual POV and gives the reader much more of the feelings and thoughts of the main characters in this way. I would have liked there to be more from Hunters POV. It flows well of the pages and leaves the reader on the edge at times.
It is an emotional story with twists.

4.25 stars-- HUNTER by Eden Summers is a contemporary, adult, stand alone, erotic, romantic suspense story line focusing on revenge, betrayal and power. This is ‘contractor’ Luke Hunter, and Sarah Carmichael’s story line.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Sarah and Luke) HUNTER follows Steph, aka Emma, aka Sarah as she goes in search of the man that destroyed her life and her family, ten years earlier. What Sarah never expected was to come face to face with a man who is desperate to find out what our heroine knows in order to protect her from herself and from the man in charge. What ensues is the back and forth, antagonistic relationship between Sarah and Hunter, and the fall-out as Sarah must face down a man more powerful than she could have imagined.

Sarah has no idea the can of worms she has upended in her attempt to take down the man that shattered her life but finding the man brings her up close and personal with the darker side of vengeance. Hunter is a contractor whose target is the woman with whom he will fall in love but a woman searching for the same thing as our story line hero. Vigilante justice or an avenging angel, Sarah knows only that she must exact and impose her own form of punishment against a killer who shows no remorse for the things he has done.

HUNTER is fast paced, action packed story of retribution and vengeance: of one woman’s need to avenge the deaths of the people she loved, and one man desperate to protect the bull-headed woman with whom he has fallen in love. The premise is intriguing and entertaining; the characters are colorful, hardened and charismatic; the romance is erotic and intense but, once again, I take issue with a certain four –letter word that holds no place in a romantic story line of any genre. HUNTER is a raw, gritty, dark and engrossing story that will capture your imagination. I hope the author has plans for some of the secondary characters including Decker and Torian.
