We did adopt Sir Tim Wants a Dragon by Judith Koppens into our classroom libraries. My students found Sir Tim Wants a Dragon to be funny and enjoyed the illustrations when I read this book aloud to them.
'Sir Tim Wants a Dragon' by Judith Koppens and Eline van Lindenhuizen is a picture book about a young boy who wants a very specific pet.
Young Tim likes dressing like a knight. When his mom tells him he can have a pet, he is emphatic about what kind of pet. Sir Tim wants to get a dragon. The local pet store offers Tim all kinds of options, but they are too small or slow or fuzzy. Will young Tim find the dragon he is looking for at the local pet store?
This is a really cute picture book about wanting what you want. I loved the cute story and the cute illustrations that went along with it. The final outcome is completely adorable and should be a fun read for the young ones.

Sir Tim Wants a Dragon is a picturebook written by Judith Koppens and illustrated by Eline van Lindenhuizen. It is currently scheduled for release on July 1 2018. Sir Tim wants a pet, but not just any kind of pet. Tim wants a dragon, because “All knights have dragons.” Tim says decisively. “I’m a knight so I need a dragon!” Tim and Mom go to the pet shop together, but the pet shop does not sell any dragons. Or do they?
Sir Tim Wants a Dragon is a cute picturebook about a young man with a big imagination. As he plays knight he becomes determined that he needs a pet dragon. Not an unexpected result to any parent or caregiver to be honest. When they go to the pet store he is disappointed that there are no real dragons. I liked the illustrations, I found the artwork to be very nice to look at, and offering extra details and some humor on each page.
I was glad that Sir Tim refrained from having a temper tantrum when a dragon was unavailable, but disappointed that a bearded dragon or other aptly named lizard was not the solution, I was half expecting it. I did like that he was able to compromise- although I was less than thrilled Tim ends up with a labor intensive pet with no talk of responsibility and no preparations. I know it is a book for the youngest readers, but the idea of getting anything you want without working for it or responsibility bothers me.
This was an adorable book about a little boy, Sir Tim, who likes to pretend to be a knight. He wants a pet, a dragon as a matter of fact. He and his mom go to the pet shop to find a dragon. He explores many different pets. This was very cute and the illustrations were so nice.

I read this book with my children and they were delighted. Both of them are boys and they enjoyed it so much.
It is about the boy Sir TIm, who is of course a knight and he is looking for a pet dragon. So his mommy takes him to the pet shop to prove they don't sell dragons.
It is funny, especially when the pet shop owner is suggesting different pets for Sir Tim. It is entertaining, humorous and writes about universal topic. We really liked pictures they are wonderfully done.
High prise for this book and we can't wait for new book from this author.
It's a silly story, sorry!
The pictures were nice - both my son and I loved them. But the story was just...well, after reading it together, I asked what he liked, and what it was even about, and he simply stared into the middle distance repeating Where's the dragon? I guess my son wouldn't drop an idea of a dragon for a puppy. So maybe a few more pictures or pages needed to added for him to see the point.
What pet do you get when all you really want is a dragon? Well a turtle is too slow, and a rabbit not ferocious enough. Maybe just maybe Sir Tim will find his dragon. A fun story about finding the perfect first pet.
Young Tim wants a pet. As Sir Tim, he knows he wants a dragon. His mother takes him to the pet store to see what they can find. The ending shows us that there is always more than one answer to a problem. The illustrations are cute and whimsical. The simple story is easy for children to understand and would be a fun read when someone is looking to get a family pet or just anytime.
A cute picture book about a little boy - oops, sorry, about a knight named Sir Tim - whose mom tells him he can have a pet. Of course, being a knight, Sir Tim wants a pet dragon. Very cute illustrations.
This was very cute and very appropriate for small children. I read this to my cousin and he loved it! I recommend for parents and teachers of small children.
Got this book throubh Net Gallery, enjoyable read for early readers, with beautiful illustrations that can be used to start talking topics in the classroom, about colours, animals etc.
Well written will appeal to most children..
A must for school library and classroom reading corners.
Tim is a little kid who thinks he’s a knight. Told he can have a pet, he decides on a dragon, though his logic is faulty; knights kill dragons, not keep them as pets. Plus it’s really hard to find a dragon at the local pet store.
Mom looks amused throughout, except when mice enter the discussion, so that’s a plus.
Pretty lucky coincidence to end it, but a cute story overall.
A sweet little story perfect for early readers. Tim has his heart set on getting a pet dragon, but the pet store doesn't seem to carry any. The alternatives offered don't satisfy Tim until the clever shopkeeper finds the perfect Dragon. The illustrations are cute and Tim's single-mindedness is painfully realistic to anyone who has spent time around small children!
This was a sweet story about a little Knight that just wants a pet dragon. I think most kids would enjoy this because of the subject matter of dragons a lone.

Adorable!!! It is a fun story that I won't mind reading over and over again to my little one. It has animals and a tenacious little boy trying to find a new pet dragon.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC.
This was a quick, delightful story about Sir Tim and his desire to get a pet dragon. The think I like the most in this story is the lack of the typical meltdown from Sir Tim. I read this book to my 5 year old and he really enjoyed the story and the pictures. Overall, this is a story and I would recommend it as a library read. The price point is a bit high. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

Very cute book! Tim wants a dragon, which he decides on after his mother offers to get him a pet. Its a cute book on expectations, how parents cope with different circumstances, how disappointment comes when expectations can be too high, and how solutions present themselves in curious ways that we can embrace, or discard. Wonderful book!!

A charming and clever wee tale for the little ones about a boy who's passionate about knights and dragons, and wants a dragon for himself. Will his mother and the shopkeeper at the pet store be able to make his dream come true? A really lovely mix of the 'dragons and knights' myths so popular in kids books but bringing it into the ordinary everyday too. Charming and delightful. The author does a really great job with the writing - it's a terrific example for other kids' authors of how you can have a story that's not told in rhyme and doesn't have madcap situations and zany language but still 'sings' and holds a little one (and their adult reader)'s interest when it is read aloud. Lovely illustrations to match a very cool tale that leaves a smile on your face.
An easy going light story, about how to negotiate without drama the reality with small children. In other words, if there is not a dragon on sale, at least we can go home with a little doggie, isn't it? Simple, non-challenging and with colourful illustrations.
