First, I have to say I Love historical romance stories especially about the Scottish or the Irish! So when I had the chance to grab this ARC, I jumped at it. Tamara Gill even threw in time travel to make it a panty melting hate to love story. Kenzie has inherited a beautiful Scottish Estate and she can time travel. The stories of the handsome Black Ben have fascinated her since she was a teen. Especially the part about his mysterious “death”. So what better excuse to go back in time to reunite with her “gifted” ancestor and sole the mystery. But what happens when this very man becomes all to important and you have to figure out how he died and who was responsible! And No changing the past!! I could not put it down. Kenzie and Black Ben practically jumped off the pages. I can’t wait to go back and read the first in the series. So I’m gladly volunteering to write this review and grabbing it.
Love Ben and Kenzie’s Love story. Kenzie is on a mission to solve an old century mystery not expecting to find love. There’s an instant attraction when they meet but danger lurks and Kenzie has a secret. There’s action, mystery and suspense. Engaging. Recommended read.
This time travel romance will have you salivating and wanting more. Very well written, it's loaded with suspense and drama. Lots of emotion and it has a nice twist that I did not see coming. Plus, it's got a handsome Scottish hunk! Well done!
This author did a tremendous job of telling a story of a woman going back in time to the Scotland era instead of having the male lead come to this century. The writing was done really well and the dialogue was spot on. It's hard to do a Scotland brogue and have it come across in the writing, but the author did an awesome job at this.
A good solid story with good characterization and I LOVED the cover. There's something about the stylized effect that's really beautiful. Plus that model - wow.
I enjoyed this story of time travel with a modern woman and a rough-edged Scot from the past. A love of an historical mystery pulls Kenzie toward Ben through the ages. She walks a fine line between changing history and having the love of her life. There are moments that had tears in my eyes and a few head shakes. It is a fun read.
I received a copy of this story through Netgalley, and this is my unsolicited review.
Kenzie Jacobs has always been interested in the local history in Scotland. She is especially interested in knowing what happened to the man whose portrait graces the wall of her ancestral home. Kenzie finally has her chance, and she is going to travel back in time to finally uncover what the history books could not... what happened to the infamous Black Ben.
Black Ben, Laird of Ross, has been in the dumps since his wife passed after delivering their child. He ran away from his home and child in order to forget. Unfortunately for him, he finds himself at the home of his friends, practically at death's door due to his escapades. It is there that he meets the most enchanting creature, Kenzie.
Kenzie helps her relatives from the past nurse Ben back to health. She does everything in her power to find out what causes his death, but has no luck. Kenzie follows Ben to his home, certain the threat is there. Kenzie must return to her own time soon, but first she must protect Ben. Will she be able to let him go when the time comes?
I am a huge fan of time-travel, if it's done right, and author Tamara Gill nails it! In TO SAVAGE A SCOT, Ms. Gill manages to keep facts straight in each time period and her characters don't interfere too much with the timeline. Kenzie and Ben's story is believable... it's not love at first sight, but the attraction is there and continues to grow throughout. I thoroughly enjoyed TO SAVAGE A SCOT.
To Save a Savage Scot by Tamara Gill is Book 2 of the Time-Traveler's Highland Love Series.
Ms. Gill has a way with words and To Save a Savage is hands-down an exceptional read. I have yet to be disappointed with anything written by Ms. Gill. Lurved.This...nuff’ said!
An ARC was generously provided in exchange for an honest review of which this is both honest and completely voluntary.
Fascinated by the mystery of the death of Black Ben, Kenzie Jacobs is determined to find the truth, even if it means traveling back in time to when he lived in 17th century Scotland. But as Kenzie and Ben get to know each other better, there's just one problem. Sooner or later, she'll be returning to her time. Will she be able to convince Ben to go with her, or will they lose their chance at happy ever after?
What an extremely engaging and fascinating read Ms. Gill has delivered in this second book of her Time-Traveler's Highland series where the fast-paced plot drew me in from the beginning and had me reading quickly, determined to discover whether the heroine would get the answers she wants; the main characters were compelling and had me intrigued by their back stories, especially Black Ben, as he's been through so much in losing his wife and not coping with her death; and the dialogue was absolutely riveting, as someone is determined to see that Ben and Kenzie have no future together. Will Ben and Kenzie be able to overcome the obstacles they face together including whether Kenzie will stay or return to her time and the trouble Ben faces that could cost him his life?
As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories and the danger these two face because no way will Kenzie let the hero face it on his own. Moreover, the heroine is resilient, courageous and I liked how she stood up to Ben's in-laws who are rude and nasty and don't deserve to have such a good man like Ben in their lives. I also liked how determined she was to help Ben, even though it's difficult for her to open up to him about the real reason why she's time-travelled. Will she ever confess why she's moved through time to 17th century Scotland? Yet, what I liked so much about the heroine was her determination to win Ben over, especially when she does something he may end up hating her for. While the hero, he's strong, brave and I liked how determined he was to protect Kenzie, especially since she's not used to the barbarity of the time and why people are so willing to hurt others. I also liked how loyal the hero was to his people and that he would do anything to keep them safe, even if it means putting his own life on the line. Will Ben be able to protect his people?
Overall, Ms. Gill has delivered a wonderful read in this book that I could not put down and where the chemistry between this couple was intense; the romance was delightful and had me loving these two together; and the ending had me worried for the hero and heroine because of the trouble they face, but had me cheering for this couple's happy ever after because of how they overcome their biggest obstacle to be together. Will they stay in 17th century Scotland or will Ben go with Kenzie back to her time period? I would recommend To Save a Savage Scot by Tamara Gill, if you enjoy Time Travel Romance, the mysterious strangers trope, or time-traveling books by authors Angeline Fortin, Catherine Bybee, Nancy Scanlon and Sabrina York.
Kenzie Jacobs is a business woman who has ties to Scottish history and she longs to solve a 17th century mystery surrounding of Black Ben and his son’s sudden disappearance. Kenzie has inherited her family’s ability to travel through time to explore different eras. She has a portrait of Black Ben that hangs in her ancestral that has always fascinated her and she decides to travel through time to visit relatives and solve the mystery of his disappearance.
Black Ben, Laird of Ross is a laird grieving over the loss of his wife after childbirth. He been wondering trying to deal with his grief when he meets Kenzie. Ben is a handsome bold, adventurous Highlander who’s decided he’ll never marry again or put another lass at risk. Kenzie is not too enamored of Ben when they first meet, he certainly doesn’t live up to her expectation initially, but once he’s cleaned up he sets out to charm her and the sparks soon fly. Kenzie is determined to found out what happened to Ben and his son, but along the way she unexpectedly loses her heart to Black Ben and her heart’s desire then turns to saving him. Love how these two come realize their love and desire to keep the other safe at all cost in this love story.
This is my honest opinions after I voluntarily read a copy of this book that was provided to me with no requirements for a review.
I got swept up in this fabulous time travel story, Kenzie, is curious about the picture of Black Ben and returns to the seventeenth century to find out the mystery that surrounded his death, never counting on falling in live with him, trouble is she has to return to her time, or does she?
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and I am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion
i finally had the opportunity to read this author but been on my list for ages. I used to read by the dozens Highland books but when discovery of new authors there always seems to be short on time lol. I mad the time for this one with it being the description that called to me. It though has a element I do not read too much any more but this author made it enjoyable. Time travel is in this one with the allure that done it I do believe. It also centers around Kenzie and Black Ben whom begin to slow boil our emotions with their tale. You too are caught up in the past with her but then he is delicious but you want to see where they lead you. To speed through is also something you want to do to see where you end up at.
To Save a Savage Scot by Tamara Gill is one of the best historical romances I've read in awhile. Superb plot which kept me hooked from start to finish. Throw in some timetravel and you have a winner.
Tamara Gill does it again with her second book in her Time Travel Series. Kenzie Jacobs, our heroine, of present day, lives in her ancestral home with a picture of Highlander, Black Ben on the wall. She has always been intrigued by Black Ben and longs to travel back to Scotland in the 1700's. When her dreams come true and she does land back in his time, Ben is living up to his name after the death of his wife and child. Can you image someone from the future landing in your time years before she was born? Haven't we all kind of dreamed of that? Okay I have and I do not think I am unique. But to try to understand each other would seem a little confusing. But as Ben and Kenzie spend time together, an attraction grows but Kenzie feels she needs to get back to her world and time. Can Ben keep her from going back to the 21st century? A wonderful read that will hold your heart as these two strong forces try to make it work. This is part of a series and although I have read the first book and loved it, this can be read as a stand alone. Be prepared to get lost in a story that have you turning the pages!! PS, don't you love this cover?
This was a fast paced time travel story with an abundance of action. Kenzie has travelled back to the 1600s to meet her ancestor but also to solve the mystery of what happened to Black Ben, the Ross laird. It was different from other time travel stories I have read as the main characters either knew or were told that Kenzie had come from the future. This was a very entertaining read with two strong main characters, Kenzie and Ben. I kept turning the pages wondering how matters were going to be resolved and keeping my fingers crossed that there would be a happy ending. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
To Save a Savage Scot is the enchanting second book in Tamara Gills Time-Traveler’s Highland Love Series. Book two tells the tale of Kenzie, who we met at the end of To Conquer a Scot, and the infamous Black Ben, who, let’s face it, we all fell in love with during Aedan and Abigail’s journey.
Tamara Gill’s writing has that indefinable quality that draws you in and makes you turn page after page. A combination of writing style, world building, and characterisation, brings the story to life, and it is so very easy to get lost in the world and people described in the pages.
I found To Save a Savage Scot a bit lighter than the first book, but that could simply be due to Ben’s more fun-loving personality rather than the more stoic Aedan. At the end of the book, you do have to try not to overthink things too much and just go with the flow. But after all, who wants too much ‘reality’ in their escapist fiction? Not me, reality is complicated and stressful; the simplicity of romance stories, the belief that love conquers all, is, to me, the biggest draw of the genre.
I’d recommend To Save a Savage Scot to anyone who likes strong men and women with marshmallow cores, a few laughs, a hint of danger, and kilts, let’s not forget the kilts!
What a brilliant, time travelling adventure this proved to be. Well, if you want an indication of how good it was, I’ve now purchased myself a copy of the first book in this series, To Conquer a Scot, and plan to read it shortly. Here’s my review of the book that inspired me to do so!
Kenzie Jacobs is a business woman who has been fascinated by the portrait of the handsome but mysterious Black Ben which hangs in her ancestral home. He lived in the seventeenth century and was the Laird of Ross but somehow disappeared without trace, taking his baby son with him. Kenzie has inherited her family’s ability to travel through time to explore different eras and she’s determined to visit the area during the time of his disappearance in an attempt to discover just what happened to this renowned Highland warrior. She plans for her travel carefully but those were turbulent times with Clan wars and danger lurks as visits her ancestors and meets the charismatic Highlander!
This is an enthralling, well written time-slip romance with great characters, plenty of historical information, an intriguing plot and a brilliant ending. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending it. (Mind you, the fact that I went and purchased the previous book in the series should help reinforce how much I enjoyed this one!)
I requested and received a copy of this novel via NetGalley. This is my honest review after choosing to read it.
While I enjoyed this book, I didn't get into it nearly as much as I did the first one. I think the reason behind that was because Kenzie knew what she would be in for before going back in time and was prepared for it. Also, everybody she spent time with knew she was from the future and that she had every intention of going back. Ben and Kenzie also got along really well (well, except in the beginning when Ben showed up drunk), which of course is a good thing, but it made me miss how Aedan and Abby would always push each others' buttons to get a rise out of the other.
So Kenzie is the descendant of Gwen's who sent Abby back to her love in the first book. She has worked hard to learn to control her powers and has firm grasp on them. Her whole life she has been nearly obsessed with finding out what happened to Black Ben the night that he simply disappeared, and the time has finally come for her to back to that time and find out. Though, honestly with how fast I figured it out, I was shocked it took her so long. Gwen is excited to have her stay with them and they tell everybody they're related. Which is true enough.
With the the death of his wife, Ben has been drowning himself in women and alcohol. Not something befitting a man of his title to be sure. When Gwen and her husband cross paths with him on their way to the land Aedan gifted them, she invites him over. And he does go. Completely drunk, but also very sick.
The first interaction between Kenzie and Ben goes pretty badly. But as she helps nurse him back to health, Kenzie softens toward him. Maybe a little too much. Ben wants to start over with her and be friends because she is related to Gwen but also because he really likes being with her. It's not long until the two of them get together because they want to get as much happiness as they can before Kenzie decides to leave. But Ben has been gone from home for too long and Aline's family is acting unacceptably in his own home, so he must go back sooner than expected. He never thought that Kenzie would follow him. They soak up the happiness they find with each other but it's not always easy. Because of their positions there's a lot of gossip going around. Add to that an obvious plan being enacted by Ben's late wife's family and there's all sorts of trouble to fight thru. But at the end of the day, love conquers time again and Kenzie gets her answers.

Scotland, Present Day 2018
and 1605
Kenzie Jacobs of present day in the 21st century, has inherited the power to time-travel from the future to the past. She has always been obsessed with a portrait that hangs in her ancestral home in Scotland. It is of Black Ben, Laird of Ross of the 17th century. He seems to of disappeared after a fire in her ancestral home, yet no record of his death anywhere. Kenzie would love to solve this mystery, besides seeing the changes of her ancestral home, four hundred years prior to her current time in the 21st century. She is also suspicious of Black Ben’s disappearance with no record of him in history. In addition there is no history of his family lineage and his castle did not survive. It is basically a crumbling mess in pieces. This is the mystery Kenzie wants to solve though she suspects foul play - believing Black Ben was murdered.
A few months after she times travels to Scotland in 1605 where she meets Gwen and Braxton Maclead, her great-great-great too many to count grandparents! It os hilarious as Kenzie is actually older then her ancesters when they meet face to face in 1605.
Black Ben, Laird of Ross is in a horrible state wasting his life away. He left his keep not able to see the looks of sadness and sympathy from his clan. As his young wife died from complications from childbirth. After she had delivered him a healthy son, Black Ben is living with guilt as he never even loved his wife not that she loved him either. So he is basically drinking at this inn which is more of a cheap dirty whorehouse. He is ashamed of his current condition, but not ready to return home yet.
Now it defintley was not love at first sight when they first meet. As Black Ben is a total mess with bad breath, unbathed as his body order stinks to high heaven and his hair is unkept and matted! A big disappointment. Than he gets a high a fever, and nearly dies. Luckily Kenzie brought some of her 21st century medicines with her that saved Black Ben’s life. Though Kenzie has had a crush on Black Ben since seeing his portrait as a young girl. Now once he was bathed and clean he was absolutely drool worthy from top to bottom! His bulging biceps, dark silky long tresses, sensuous smile and sexy scottish brogue. Kenzie kept telling herself as did Ben that no feelings could surface or it would rip her heart out. Ben was trying to get over a wife's death he never loved, he knew Kenzie was everything he wanted in
a woman. Would he ever be able to let her go? Or would it be heartbreak and devastation, once this 21st century beauty returned to her own time?
This is the second book is the face paced riveting A Times Travelers Love Series. The setting is beautiful, dialogue is amazing, plotting is brilliant and the characters phenomenal. It is filled with adventure, mystery, paranormal, time-travel, suspense, betrayal, devastation, treachery, sorrow, heartbreak, faith, joy, love and so much more. A book readers can easily read as a stand alone novel or in series order. As there are characters - from the first book in this series making appearances too. I have read both spectacular books where the author Tamara Gill juat blew me away! Bravo!
I absolutely highly recommend the spectacular book! A novel Scottish Historical Time-Travel readers don't want to miss.

A Time Travelers Love series
By Tamara Gill
1)To Conquer a Scot
2)To Save a Scot
I received a complimentary ARC copy from Entangled publishers through netgalley. I voluntarily agreed to read, review and blog an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts, ideas and opinions are my own.
To Save a Savage Scot by Tamara Gill is the second book in the "Time-Traveler's Highland Love" series. This is the story of Kenzie Jacobs and Black Ben, Laird of Ross. I have read the previous book but feel this can easily be a standalone book.
Kenzie has always been interested in the picture of Black Ben and now has moved forward to buy the Castle Ross. This moves her forward to find out what happened to Ben by going back in time.
Ben is upset after his wife died and lost interest in everything except dulling the pain with drinking and women. There is an instant attraction between Kenzie and Ben but can there be a future for them with her being from the future and Ben never wanting to fall in love.
Exciting story!!
