I think, Tamara Gill wrote a great book, I have read one of her other books and found the same high quality that is shown in this tale. There is an adventure, time travel, intrigue, betrayal and danger in the offering. It is well written, flows smoothly and is even paced. Kenzie buys a castle, she plans to restore it. So she searches thru history books for some inspiration. She finds out the Laird of Clan Ross. Black Ben, after the battle nothing is heard of him again. His castle is burnt to the ground and his people either killed or runoff. Kenzie is from the twenty-first century and goes back to see what happened and get an idea for the reconstrution.

Time travel has never been a favourite of mine , but this one I loved .
Kenzie travels back to the 1700s to find out what happened to the former owner and Laird of her home , Castle Ross .
Ben is the Laird Of Castle Ross , after loosing his wife he goes on a drunken spree , leaving his home and clan and his son .
The two don’t get off to a good start , but things progress quickly and soon they have to decide does she stay in the past or will he follow to the future .
Love Tamara’s books , this is action from the start and a great read .
I read an advanced copy of this book and chose to submit a review

Kenzie Jacobs is fascinated by a portrait of the roguish Highlander, Black Ben, which hangs in her ancestral home. There’s a mystery surrounding his death, and Kenzie longs to solve it by traveling through time to 17th century Scotland—and perhaps meet the gorgeous laird who haunts her dreams.

Black Ben, Laird of Ross, suited his dark name more than ever since his wife died in childbirth. He has vowed never to marry again. But Kenzie is an intoxicating elixir and even more potent than whisky. As confusing and crazy as she may seem, he can’t get her out of his system. But there’s no way they can ever work, as she does not fit into his plans.

Fate has brought them together, and Ben can’t stop Kenzie from returning to her time, though he would do anything–except marry her–to keep her with him. Kenzie has a life to get back to but leaving her favorite, though infuriating, Highlander behind, might be the toughest thing she’ll ever have to do.

Black Ben Ross has always held a fascination for Kenzie Jacobs. Even from when she was small she was intrigued by a painting of his that hung in her cousin’s house. Unfortunately the history book don’t know what ever happened to the man. Kenzie decides to go back and figure it out on her own. She should have known that her fascination would lead to deeper feelings for the man.

Ben Ross believes that he killed his wife by asking for an heir. She died in childbirth because of a tumor but he thinks it was all him. He leaves not long after his son is born and gets drunk. He stays that way for many months until he lands on his friends’ doorstep, drunk and very ill. He meets Kenzie, who has come back from the future and he’s as smitten with her as she is with him.

The two start an affair but when Kenzie tells Ben why she’s really there, neither of them are sure where the danger is coming from, or how they will keep him alive when it arrives.

This was a decent time travel romance. I really liked both Kenzie and Ben as well as the other characters in the book – except the evil ones, I didn’t like them. ;) The romance between the H/h was slow to start and had a lot of tension between the two to start off with. Of course, that eventually went by the wayside and they became lovers.

I thought the author did a good job writing the time period when it came to the setting but some of the ways that the characters talked who were from 1605 was a bit too contemporary. I was also quite surprised with how many people knew Kenzie was from the future. I would have thought it was kept a bigger secret as they wouldn’t want her be thought a witch, but no one seemed to be too freaked out about it which was strange.

Despite my issues with the book it was a good read and I would definitely read more in this series.

Rating: 3.75 out of 5

I was caught up in the story from the start & wanted to find out the mystery surrounding Ben. The characters are very well fleshed, Ben has sunk to an all time low when Kenzie meets him & even seeing him in such a state she’s attracted to him. Ben is also attracted to Kenzie who is so different from all the other women he’s ever met. The pace of the story is very good & I simply wanted to keep reading until I’d finished it. This is the second book in the series but the characters from the first whilst mentioned have no impact on this story. I’m not a lover of time travelling books but I’ve loved both books.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

My Thoughts:
I have now read both books that have been written in this series.
They are both time travel romances but are unrelated as far as storyline, but they do contain at least one character in common. They are standalone titles and you do not need to read them in order to get the full enjoyment of each one.
Kenzie Jacobs is drawn to a portrait that hangs in her ancestral home of the Highlander Black Ben. There isn't much known about the roguish man as he disappeared and no one knew what happened to him.
Kenzie has an unusual ability to travel through time to an appointed destination. So due to her fascination with Ben she decides to travel back to his time to find out for herself what happened to the roguish highlander.
Never did she imagine that she would fall in love with him and he with her.
What can this mutual attraction lead to?
I gave this book a 4.25 of 5.0 star rating for characterization and storyline. It gets a sensual rating of 4 of 5 flames. These two can not keep their hands off each other once their attraction is perceived by the other.
I received a complimentary digital ARC from both the Author, via an Arc sent directly to my kindle and the publisher via NetGalley. This in no way affected my opinion of this title which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

To Save a Savage Scot is a great time travel romance as second in the Time Travel Highland Love series. This is a good stand alone book, too. The ability Kenzie has of picking out where she will travel places her with her ancestors who welcome her with open arms. Ben is trusted with the family secret and is not surprised to see her at all.

The chemistry between Kenzie and Black Ben is almost palpable. They meet when he is at his worst and stinking, yet she is still drawn to him. What she meets is nothing like the man whose picture hangs in her home. She was expecting a very different man from the one she has to care for who shows up on her great (many greats) grandmothers doorstep. Kenzie does not mind telling Ben what she thinks about his lifestyle. Her grandmother is just as good at telling him he has to change his life. He may be mourning the death of his wife, but both tell him he has to get his life together. Ben realizes these are the only two ladies from whom he would take that kind of tongue lashing.

Kenzie and Ben grow closer even when she follows him to Castle Ross telling him she does not want to miss out on something that might be growing between them. She knows Ben dies or disappears and wants to be with him as much as possible before that happens. Then, along comes Athol, sister-in-law, to mix up the romance a bit.

There were a couple of things that seemed unclear and might be worth mentioning because I thought they were leads to a part of the story. One was the odd illness that Kenzie had making me think that someone might be trying to poison her, but that lead just disappeared. There was the secret room that I thought might be used at some point, but that lead just disappeared, too. At one point, there was mention of a consolation prize. That seemed out of place for the time. None of this takes away from the story – just seems odd.

Regardless, I thoroughly enjoyed Kenzie and Ben’s story. You really know what is going to happen, but the lead up to the results is worth your time to read.

I really enjoyed Kenzie and Ben's story! I loved that Kenzie could send her self to any place and time. I would love to have this ability!! I would visit so many historical events!

Kenzie had the benefit of knowing about the time period that she traveled back to and since she planned her trip, was able to travel back with things that she might need. Having heard the story of Black Ben her whole life, she is a little disappointed in the man she first meets. But he grows on her as he gets his life back together after the death of his wife.

Kenzie went back in time to solve the mystery of Ben's death, but she ended up falling for the guy. Can she save him so that history as she knows it doesn't come to fruition?

I'm hoping that Gill continues with this series as I am throughly enjoying it!

Kenzie Jacobs has at last managed to buy the ruined castle and grounds of Castle Ross. It's a place that has long fascinated her. Ever since she saw the portrait of Black Ben the Laird of Ross and heard of his mysterious disappearance. Now it's time to use the gift that has been passed through generations of her family to find out the truth. She will travel back in time.
Black Ben is not acting like a Laird. Since the death of his wife he has been doing nothing but whoring and drinking. He is certainly nothing like the man she thought he was.
Can our heroine save him when there seems to be nothing to save him from?
This story is lots of fun. Our heroine gets quite the adventure. It's different from a lot of time travel stories because of the control she has over her gift.
It is part of a series but you could quite easily read it as a stand alone. It's better when you understand the family gift which starts in the first book.
I loved it.

First I want to say this is my first book that I've read by this author and even though this is book 2 in a series i didn't feel like I was completely list since I didn't read book 1. I've been looking for a good time travel book to read and I was very happy to stumble across this book. It was very good and I p!an on reading more books by this author and definitely recommend it for those who like time travel books or people who like books about Highlanders. I fell in love with Ben fairly early into the book. Once I started reading it i didn't want to stop. I like how not only was there time travel back but also had time travel moving back to the current year Kenzie came from

I was on the edge of my seat throughout this story. What happened to Ben? Did he die, did his son die with him? Could Kenzie help Ben and his son? There were so many questions and what ifs and I did not know how this story could conclude with a happily ever after...who am I kidding, of course it could, it is a romance. There were a few plot points that confused me, her illness was one and Athol’s insistence that she marry Ben was another. This series (two books so far, not sure if there will be more) is just fun to read.

I thought this author did a very good job when telling the story of a modern woman traveling back in time to Scotland. Kenzie is what some might call a witch as she can transport herself and others through time . Having always been fascinated by the story of the mysterious Black Ben she sets out to discover what actually happened to him and just why his castle burnt down .
Ben blames himself for his wife's death in childbirth and has sank into oblivion with the help of a bottle or six of whiskey ! Ben definitely isn't expecting his friends and their odd and totally unconventional relative Kenzie to start telling him what to do . Still the lass is pleasant to look at and behaves not at all like the he expects an unmarried woman to . Their attraction is obviously mutual but Ben is needed at home and then has a pleasant surprise when Kenzie follows him . Unfortunately though there are much more unpleasant surprises in store for the roguish Highlander !
I honestly thought the author did a very good job with the dialogue although would say that having someone drink lager quite near the beginning did somewhat jar me out of the story. That and the word ass instead of the more colloquial arse were the only glaring mistakes that I found so yes I did find it very easy to sink into this book. It's very hard to write dialogue in a highland brogue and I actually did as the story unfolded feel I was transported to seventeenth century Scotland.
Ben is a cheeky character and no mistake and he's offset perfectly by bold, modern Kenzie. Her previous fascination with the portrait of the handsome laird does take a bashing though as he's not exactly swoon worthy when they initially meet. Still once he's cleaned up and setting out to charm the pants off her Kenzie very quickly returns to lusting after him ! I won't reveal the plot but occasionally things were mentioned that felt a bit pointless almost like red herrings. Secret rooms and Kenzie suddenly feeling unwell come to mind but happily the author still managed to give a well rounded and entertaining story. Whilst I don't usually read time travel romance I did enjoy this book and obviously the cover with a hunk in a kilt only added to it !
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
