I enjoyed this story for the most part. I really liked Sophie, the quirky heroine who blows into Cain's life. I wasn't as taken with Cain by the end of the story, which was a shame as far as I'm concerned. He had the potential to be a great hero, but there was a scene towards the end of the book that ruined it for me. The first half of the book is a solid 4.5 stars, but I found the story went a little off the rails and that disappointed me. I hope we get to revisit these characters when (if?) we get Bella's story.

I really enjoyed this story of two people who are so different but come together in a way that benefits them both. Sophie is amazing, smart, honest, and a virgin in her mid twenties because she has been very busy academically. Cain has been through a lot and can only cope by drinking. He has women throwing themselves at him all the time but has never met anyone like Sophie. Being accepted for who you are and accepting yourself are great themes in this romance.

So far so good, but I'm not sure how the next book in the series will turn out. Cain's brother isn't painted in the best light.
I love Sophie's quirky personality. Her straight forward approach is funny most of the time.

I enjoyed this book with two relatively unique characters. Sophie, honest to a fault, and extremely smart and Cain, an alcoholic trying to keep the hurt at bay with anger and booze. I liked seeing them get to know each other and how they both got each other and instinctively knew how to deal with each other. There is quite a bit of sexual content (not surprising when they meet up as a hookup), it didn't bog down the story in IMO, as it often lead to communication and situations where they learned about each other. Overall, I liked this story and it kept me engrossed till the end. *I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and this is my voluntary and honest review.

I have mixed feelings about this book. I really enjoyed Sophie as a character. I adored her quirkiness and honesty. There were times I thought Cain had the potential to be a great book boyfriend. I also totally understood the pain he held. However, there were so many things that were not fully developed (what was going on with Bella? will we ever find out?). My biggest issue was the love can fix all ailments mentality. The quickness of the resolution felt rushed and unrealistic.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I have never read anything by Erin McCarthy, and loved her writing and her characters. I am a New England girl, so that made me even more invested in the story. I thought Sophie was great. She reminded me of a female Sheldon Cooper. I thought it was a great storyline with great characters. I can't wait to read more from Erin McCarthy in the future!

The description of this book is what reeled me into wanting to read this story. You have Sophie who is mildly OCD and a bit ‘Sheldon Cooper’ and Cain who is an alcoholic. Sophie is on a quest to lose her virginity and she picks Cain (who she sees at a bar) to be the man to take it from her. These two get to talking and they learn they enjoy each other’s company more than just a quick round between the sheets.
At the times, I felt Sophie was a bit boring and hard for me to relate to, but this could just be me since I have never met anyone like her in real life. Perhaps if I had known someone like her it would have enjoyed her more. However, overall, I enjoyed this book. I would like to read this next boo in this series.
This is my first book by this author.

Cain's life is a mess. He is angry and hurt and has turned to drinking and women to help try to dull the pain. He meets Sophie whose family owns a home in the area. She's only in town for her sister's wedding and is looking for someone just for the night, but what happens when they each might be just what the other needs?

The author does a good job of clearly showing what makes Sophie and Cain tick and why they have the self esteem and internal struggles that they do. Their actions throughout the book totally feel in line with their character, even when it's frustrating to see how they act.

The book definitely has some sexy scenes, but it's really the emotional connections and character growth that made it interesting for me. I liked the set up at the end for the next book, too. Just enough to keep you on your toes for what went down and what might be next.

This is my first time reading from this author and I really enjoyed this book. Loved Sophie's character but really didn't like Cain's until the very end. Can't wait for the next book.

I usually love Erin McCarthy's writing but this just didn't do it for me. I loved the plot but I couldn't connect to the main character.

3 stars only for the fact I couldn't finish reading this, and giving it anything less would have been unfair. I kept getting confused on who's POV I was reading, there was no transition for it, one paragraph was hers, the next his. after 23% in I had to just close it out.
