I enjoyed this book and was glad that I came across it. You get an early look into Preacher as he leaves his home one early morning and how he learns about life which is not so easy as he finds out. Later he is asked to help with a wagon train going west and the problems they are having both parts of the story are entertaining and will keep you wanting to read a good book.
Not my usual type of story, but highly recommend to all fans of this genre. Very easy to read. Good choice!
We love westerns around here and Johnstone is one of our favorites. My husband has read every book he has written. I don’t think the books are as good as when William was alive and writing on his own but we are hanging in determined to read all his books
Loved it .Can't wait to read more of this series and by these authors ,thanks Netgalley for letting me read and review this book in change for my honest opinion
Preacher: The Legendary Mountain Man: How It All Began is part of the The First Mountain Man series. I thought it was great read. Highly recommend.
5 plus stars.
A good book, written simply, but details the adventures of Preacher, a mountain man on the western frontier. Makes the history more human, more interesting.
I love all of Johnstone's books but Preacher is my favorite. Reading these makes you feel you are back in the times when life was so very different. The stories pull you in and keep you reading no matter what is going on around you. You laugh, cry, curse and appreciate Preacher's story as he lives it. I can't wait to tell all of my reading circle of his latest adventures.
This is a great book by a wonderful author. This is my first book I've read by William W. Johnstone but it will not be the last. It was exciting, delightful, adventurous, and intriguing. I loved reading every page of this book. If you are looking for a good Western to read then this is it, you won't be disappointed.
