This story is about pirates in the Caribbean in the late 1600’s. The book is written from many perspectives and to me, was hard to follow.

There are many different characters and the story alternates between things occurring in Jamaica and on the sea and other locations. Even though this was the first book in this series, I feel like I missed quite a bit of backstory only vaguely referenced in this story.

Due to the difficulty in following the story line and keeping the characters straight, I did not enjoy the story. It definitely had potential, and with more details about the backstory, it may have been easier for me to follow. I found the writing to be good and enjoyed some of the descriptive writing.
