I didn't get to see every recipe but it was definitely a fun read! We're big Jimmy Buffett fans here and it's nice that they created so many recipes to his songs.
Fun! I found several recipes in this book that my family will and has enjoyed. The recipes had ingredients that most kitchens have and the directions were very easy to follow. Really nice cookbook
Anyone who has heard the iconic song, Margaritaville, by Jimmy Buffet, has most likely dreamed of laying on the beach, drinking margaritas, and eating beach food. With Margaritaville: The Cookbook: Relaxed Recipes For a Taste of Paradise, anyone can do just that, no matter where they are. The book has dozens of drink recipes for exotic drinks that would be good at the beach or around a pool, but it also has recipes for beach food – from beaches everywhere – that are truly mouthwatering. Breakfast dishes include a scrumptious Pineapple and Coconut Milk Smoothie and South Florida Eggs Benedict. There are great appetizer recipes like Volcano Nachos and Warm Asiago Crab Dip (very addicting), both perfect for outdoor entertaining. Luxurious Lobster Bisque (and it is) and Lobster rolls are featured, as well as a decadent Cheeseburgers in Paradise with Paradise Island Dressing. There are dozens of excellent seafood dishes – something for almost everyone – and beautiful and scrumptious desserts. Baked Florida is a take on Baked Alaska with flavors reminiscent of Florida beaches, and the Coconut Tres Leches Cake is not difficult, but is worth every minute it takes to prepare it.
One of the best features of this cookbook is that there are beautiful photographs that make it even more tempting to prepare every recipe.
Besides the recipes, the book features a forward by Jimmy Buffet himself, and also has his stories and vignettes throughout. These serve to set the mood and inspire everyone to want to go to the beach.
Anyone who wants a fun cookbook to add to their collection will want to pick up a copy of Margaritaville: The Cookbook: Relaxed Recipes For a Taste of Paradise. It’s fun, the recipes are fairly easy and straightforward, and the results are mouthwatering.
Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.
I enjoyed the glimpse into the Margaritaville cookbook but was dissapointed it didn't offer more, just a few recipes.
A fun and different selection of Caribbean-infused recipes, this cookbook looks like it will be the perfect summer go-to for entertaining or just an evening in. Can't wait to get a look at the full cookbook!
This is a fabulous cookbook! I love cookbooks, and this is a very good one. The recipes are easy to follow and not hard to make at all. And delicious! This is not your average or boring cookbook. The pictures are also great and make the recipes even more mouthwatering! Even if you don't like to normally cook, try this one. It is fun and easy to follow.
Thank you for the opportunity I can't wait to try all of the recipes that are offered in this book! Very easy to follow too.
Have you ever heard the song or even just the saying "It's 5 O'clock Somewhere? This book will make you wish it was 5 O'clock so you can set down to the dinner table. The recipes in this book can make you feel like its Summer in the Islands even in the middle of a snowstorm. The fun tasty dishes in this book will have you running for the local farmers market to grab some fresh fruits and veggies to add to these recipes.
There are recipes for Smoothies, Appetizers, Soups & Salads, Sandwiches, and main dishes.
I was given this book from the Author or publisher at Netgalley.com in exchange for my honest review. The thoughts are my own, good, bad, or indifferent.
NETGALLEY (only) note: Since I didn't get the full book of the recipes, and because I wasn't really drawn to try any of the recipes in this particular version, I chose to make a couple of the drinks instead. REVIEW below:
I had a great time making this books’ Bloody Maria’s and their Jalapeño Margaritas (in the variation’s section underneath Jimmy’s Perfect Margarita).
The Bloody Maria’s were simple yet flavorful and seemed to make a lot more than I had expected, while the Jalapeño Margaritas turned out to be more of a sipping drink (since I accidentally added a WHOLE thinly sliced jalapeño rather than just one thinly sliced Jalapeño …lol). Still, it was REALLY YUMMY!
I haven’t tried any food recipes yet, but the highlights for me were near the end. They have a super cool section called Tailgating, along with Twenty Party and Menu Suggestions! They’ve even included, "Recipes Organized by Fun!", as well as Practical Party Tips. What a nice way to wrap up such a beautiful looking book!
I received an Advanced Reader Copy from NetGalley for my unbiased opinion of the book. As soon as I opened this book for the first time, I could swear I smelled the ocean mixed with salt and lime. I loved the layout and the recipes. I am about halfway cooking my way through this book. I have tried Volcano Nachos, Jerk Chicken, Grilled Skirt Steak with Carlo's Chimichurri, and several others all fabulous. I look forward to giving these books as gifts.
This preview of Margaritaville: The Cookbook gives only a few recipes, but holy smokes! These look delicious! I can't wait to try the Key Lime Pie inside and there are recipes in the table of contents that look fabulous. This cookbook is epic!
Colorful pictures of recipes and the Florida Keys, this cookbook is visually appealing. A forward fromJimmy B himself, of course. The recipes are interesting, and heavy on the cocktails, seafood dishes, and desserts. It is perfect for fans of the Margaritaville lifestyle, and for anyone interested in a summer menu for relaxing and entertaining.
The recipes are interesting, and some feature favorites from the Margaritaville restaurants. Other recipes are originals from chef Carlo Sernaglia, and worth attempting as none seem to difficult to follow.
All in all I would recommend it.
This is a nice cookbook that really does give the impression of being a laid-back cookbook. I'm not exactly sure what about the recipes in general are 'relaxing' but I'm also not very familiar with the Jimmy Buffet background/lifestyle or the Margaritaville restaurant. It's nice to have a 'twenty party and menu suggestions' section and have the 'recipes organized by fun'. I think it would make a good gift for someone more familiar with Margaritaville and someone who appreciates seafood.
Another great cookbook that had me immediately making a grocery list, and getting ready to try some new techniques in the kitchen. There were so many recipes and photos that had my mouth watering. I can't wait to see this in print. The photos are going to be stunning in person.
I have received a much appreciated digital copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
I received a sample of this from Net Galley. Unfortunately, I was unable to judge the quality of the book based on the digital sample I received. The formatting was so out-of-kilter that recipes were seldom attached to the copy introducing them. It felt like I had embarked on a culinary jigsaw puzzle. However, it looked as if it could be a fun reference, and with the finished book at 350-plus pages, thee should be lots of photos, food and celebrity ambience. I will seek it out at a bookstore after publication.
I am not a fabulous cook and I currently live in a landlocked country which has been a little soul sucking. This cookbook not only helps me with dinner but it makes me feel like i'm home with my toes in the sand.
I received an early sample edition from Netgalley and am very excited for the full cookbook to come out.
Carlo Sernaglia's cookbook will transport you to the beach regardless of where your might actually be reading it. The dishes are bright fun and chock full of island flare, Jimmy Buffet even does the intro. Inventive meals cover breakfasts, appetizers, soup & Salads, dinners, desserts and of course cocktails. The recipes are easy to understand and follow. The ingredients are all fresh and delicious and not surprisingly seafood centered. The photographs are captivating and make you want to sip pina coladas by the beach.
I have Lucy Buffett's cookbook from Lulu's Gulf Shores. The Margaritaville cookbook will be going on a shelf next to it. When you can't get away for a beach vacation you can eat like you are on vacay.
I am excited to see many favorite items in the ARC sample. My first recipe to try will be the batter fried fish and the key lime pie.
Awesome! I haven't eaten at Buffet's Margaritaville yet, but if this cookbook offers recipes from it, I may need to pop in for a bite! I received sample of the book from Netgalley in exchange for a fair review. The recipe sampler looked tasty! I want to try the lobster rolls, Landshark Beer-Batterd Fish and a Pina Colada! The photos, even if they are only b/w on my Kindle, my tummy growl for lunch! I can't wait to see the whole cookbook when it comes out. Worth getting!
I love the tropical flavors found in all these recipes. I enjoy eating at Margaritaville and would be happy to make these at home. I didn't get to see all the recipes in the sampler, but I enjoyed what I did. It also had really great pictures. I will definitely purchase this book.
