For career women who want get out of the rat race and into a more family-centered existence, this is an essential read.
Staying home with your kids may seem like an unreachable dream but Erin lays out a good plan for getting you there. She also has filled the pages with encouragement that will speak to every mom’s heart!
A fantastic book full of ideas on how to save and make money.
The diy home products is genius.
I especially liked the action steps , these were really useful.
I read this book when it came out as a part of the launch team ,thanks to Netgalley for a copy in exchange for a review - quite a bit late! Erin Odom's blog is so helpful for learning all the things on homemaking and her book is no exception. IT takes it one step further with tangible examples on things like budgets, side income, easy birthdays, holidays, and more. While I am now a single mom, some of the content isn't helpful for me anymore, but any mom would still benefit as it helps you to reprioritize all the things of life to put first things first - taking care of your kids and your faith. I was agreeing with so much of it and inspired to look for ways to do more. Still so helpful in finding additional ways to provide for my two kids and myself. This is a book that never goes out of date and is such a helpful guide for all moms! Thank you!
A quick, easy, practical read. I think this topic is so important - always has been but more and more so now. I really appreciate the insight and plan to recommend this book to fellow parents who want to be at home with their kids but have all the excuses not to.
This book is easy to read and practical! Just what every hectic mom needs! BUT this book is NOT just for moms, there are a lot of tips in here that my cheap penny pinching college self could have used too! This book applies to anyone trying to make things work on a budget.
Erin’s advice is short and sweet and oh so easy to implement. She offers creative ideas to make life on a budget work so that you can stay home with your kids.
This book was interesting seeing as how I’m a stay at home mom. Saving money and trying to help out financially is always on my mind. If you’re just thinking about the possibility of this I highly recommend this book to get you thinking. There are many people who do this and there are many of us who have made it work for years.
This adorable little book is packed full of advice on ways to save money and increase income! While it is geared towards moms that want to be able to afford to stay home with their kids, it is also great for anyone just trying to save money to pay off debt or reach their goals. I have read tons of books about making your money stretch, but this book still gave me new ideas to try out!
Blogger-turned-author Erin Odom has had immense success in creating a financial future for her family. And she also came from years of barely making ends meet.
One thing's for sure: She's thrifty.
And she is great at giving advice to other moms, looking for more flexibility in their lifestyle. In “You Can Stay Home with Your Kids,” she offers 100 tips, tricks and ways to make it work on a budget.
Erin tackles everything from coupons to cloth diapers—and how to date on a dime.
As a fellow frugalista, I found some of her ideas pretty spectacular. I especially appreciate her focus on being health- and environmentally-conscious. Just today, I mixed up some vinegar, baking soda and water to clean my kitchen sink—using what I had on hand instead of buying something with chemicals. That’s a win!
Moms will love this audiobook (narrated by Emma Lysy) as it offers tons of practical tips on how to save money and start a side-hustle business. All with the goal of being able to stay home and be with your family.
While I’m not exactly the target audience for this book, as I’m not a church-going, SAHM, I did like the book. I also applaud Erin for sharing her secrets so that others can live on one income. And/or create a second income stream like she did.
It’s most definitely an empowering book for women, Christian or otherwise. And, if you can look past the faith-based references, it’s still worth the read (or, in this case, a listen)!
I appreciate NetGalley and Zondervan for gifting me a copy of the audiobook in exchange for my unbiased review.
This book was a complete waste of time. Erin is a Christian woman who was determined to be a stay at home mom, even at the detriment of her family. She even continued to have more children although they could not afford to do so. But this book isn't about her life. It is about useless money-saving tips that are basic common sense. Here are a few examples: turn off the lights, drink water, not soft drinks, make siblings share rooms, and bake your own cupcakes. The only good advice she gives is to see a financial advisor. Don't waste your time on this book, just see a financial advisor.
This book was given to me by NetGalley.
This book is awesome!!! So many great practical tips for moms to be able to afford to stay home with their kids! Many of these things we already do since I"m a stay at home momma to 4 and we started having kids when we were still in college, but they were a great refresher and are probably new ideas to many who would greatly benefit in learning about and utilizing these tips in their life!
I thought this was going to be more about surviving the pandemic with kids. Still a great book for moms or dads looking to be single income families with one stay at home parent.
You can stay at home with your kids! By Erin Odom is a great book! She gets straight to the point and gives great advice, tips and tricks to help the reader become a stay at home mom! I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to be home with their kids!
A great book that had some really practical tips! As someone who doesn't yet have kids, but plans to in the future, it was very interesting to read about how I might be able to stay home with them.
I'm a stay at home spouse and I will be a stay at home mom one day. The tips in this book are good, specially if you really need to save money or if you have more than one kid but most of the tips that are common sense like turn off the lights, plan easy meals, look for 'kids eat free restaurants' and shop in bulk or shop at dollar stores and there's also recipes of how to make your own cleaning supplies. I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review
This is a great Book, if you want to make a living but also have time for your Family.
There are some really good advise, which I already tried
So thanks a lot for letting me read this Book.
I received this book ARC in exchange for my review, all opinions my own. This book is basically a compilation of tips for frugality for the most part - how can you live off a minimum budget and be a SAHM. There's some context on kids and larger families and a little section at the end about alternate means of making money. The book did not have a real structure or prioritization strategy which I feel was a bit of a miss. Good reference for those starting out in this world, nothing out of the ordinary.
What a great helpful book for us moms who want to help contribute to our family’s finances. This book was easy to read with tips and tricks that will work for every mom from all situations.
This book is christian based and offers insight for how to lower your spending and increasing your income. Being a millennial mom, most of the content was already familiar to me, Therefore, I didn't garner as much ground breaking information as I would have liked. This author also hosts a popular blog, and if you follow her blog then a lot within this book will feel redundant. However, if you are a mom who has never looked into frugal life styles or small side jobs to supplement income and just not sure where to start, I think you'd enjoy this read a lot more. The writing style was very easy to follow and divided up into precise topics. The author got straight to her tips without needing many antidotes, which I appreciated.
