Children - especially young girls - will enjoy reading about the actress who played Wonder Woman. This nonfiction book reads like a story.
This brief look at an up and coming actress is the right length and amount of information for little minds. There is not much you would find in here that isn’t in people magazine, but it is a fun was for kids to look at the lady who gave new life to Wonder Woman.
I requested this book 100% because I have a girl-crush on Gal Gadot. The woman is freakin' BEAUTIFUL. This is a biography geared towards middle readers, so it glosses over a LOT (re: her military service and how countries that aren't so positive towards Israel banned the showing of the movie Wonder Woman in their country because she was Israeli and a warrior, etc.), but it did go into her early acting and modeling career, as well as her training and work in the Israeli military.
Didn't know this, but she was pregnant with her second child when she was filming Wonder Woman. Not for all of it, but for less action packed scenes that needed to be shot, they green screened her belly out!
This was a good intro to the actress and her work. She comes across as very strong and wanting to be a good role model to all girls and women. So crushing on her. Beautiful, smart and classy. What's not to love? Oh, she's also one tough lady! Sigh.
4 stars. Recommended as an intro, but not overly in-depth. Worth it for the read and the pictures. She's so pretty!!!
My thanks to NetGalley and Lerner Publishing Group for an eARC copy of this book to read and review.
